I have an IMP22Y and the Sodbuster Jr. with the plow etch. The Imperial is a little thick behind the edge and doesn't slice quite as well, and a little rougher pull. But I very much prefer he Imperial's blade shape. The Case "bull nose" just doesn't have enough of a point. I feel like I'm trying to poke a hole with a chisel if I have to push it through cardboard. So the Imperial gets more carry time.

When I started collecting slipjoints, I bought an IMP22 for $5 just to see if I would like the pattern before spending the money on a Case. I liked the pattern so much, the next knife I bought was a sod buster jr. Now I've got a whole stable full of 'em. 😆But I've still got that little Imperial, and still carry it once in awhile. Great knife for the money. Cheers, buddy!

I like the price of the IMP 22 But I like the shape of Case Sod Buster Jr. skinner blade better. Case used to list their composition handle as "Delrin" but they seems to have stop using that name So my bet is they are using a non-DuPont thermal plastic. The Case is always loosey-goosey with their steel type. Really good side by side. Thanks for the in depth look. Incidentally, the Sod Buster Jr. showed up around 1970. The Sod Buster in 1965 (the Case TM is for Sod Buster as two words). They also had a TM for Sod Buster Jr. but it looks like that might have expired. So in theory, "Sodbuster" (one word) can apply to any knife similar to the Case Sod Buster as Case didn't TM that word. LOL.

better check out Red Hill Cutlery new custom Case congress made with bourbon barrels for them. Red Hill Cutlery has become my favorite store and some day I want to go there and see the museum and the giant Case Barlow sign out front. they just had the Buck & Bourbon festival there and i can't believe you didn't go and do a live from it. Red Hill is awesome and better than Shepard Hill or Smoky Mountain Knife Works. More unique customs made for them by Case, SAK and Bear & Sons and others
@knifedelights747310 ай бұрын
I'd love to do a live there, but it is quite a drive for me. I did purchase their limited edition Buck110 Bourbon and Blades. I believe they will start getting more of my business. Thanks for watching, and keep charging.

CASE has much better blade steel.....but its hard to sell that steel at 10-15 times higher price. Ive seen the Imperial small frame for about 6$ in yellow, That same CASE can go over 100$ if you get fancy bone scales. For a work knife that you know is going to be used HARD....that IMPERIAL is 1 heck of a deal.
@knifedelights74739 ай бұрын
Those are some good thoughts about the steel. I appreciate you watching, my friend.
