DUDE TY. I could not figure out why I liked this brunswick ball I have so much and I'm able to play so much straighter with it than all my other equipment. After watching this I'm nearly positive its because it doesn't flair, what a great video

What was the layout on the ball before and after? Yes, the pin went from 6 3/4" to 4 3/4" but what did you change on the first and second angles? That's the key.

Good comparison. I have two Phaze 2 balls too. I haven't drilled one yet, but may drill it like the one you had at the beginning for sport shot conditions.

I track over my middle finger for my phaze 2 right now. If I change just the pitch of the ball will the flare rings move and with just moving the pitches and not plugging it completely and redrilling a different layout will the flare rings increase if ever I just change the pitch a little more to go away from the ring finger?

I throw an old Black Widow Venom as my main ball, and on nights where the lanes are pretty dry, I leave as much flare on the ball as I can to keep it in the pocket, conversely, on heavy oil, I'm constantly wiping my ball off.

This makes so much sense. I'm not on a league but I'm just getting back into bowling. Had my first ball for about a year pre-COVID and I left it in the car and it cracked 😭 So I'm gonna get a new ball soon. Anyways, I've always wiped my ball off after every shot, but I'm glad I realized I shouldn't if the lanes are drier. Hopefully this will help with consistency. Thank you!

Feels like you left out a lot of good info here man. Seeing the oil rings was cool, but this felt more like a Phaze 2 ad than anything informative about ball physics.

I’m thinking of getting a new ball, both my balls are around 10-12 years old and I have a game breaker 1. People always ask me about this ball, but since it’s 10 years old it doesn’t always react consistently like it used to, so I’m glad I found this video, I was gonna look at a black widow but after this video might look into the phase 2. My other ball is a big hit by storm and that used to strike a lot for me, but I use it now as a spare ball and every so often use it as a main throw.

Not always true. The Venom Shock is very low flair and those things can have some stank on 'em, thanks to the core/cover combo.

I ripped the cover off the ball. I had a high track pattern and almost no flare. I wore out balls pretty quick but I still had a lot of success

0:40" Flair exposes...." WHAT? What does it expose? That was an incomprehensible series of syllables to my American ear. I played it at 0.75x and 0.5x, still no idea.

Exposes meaning as it rotates it will attempt to use new surfaces of the ball. Low flare layout will almost use the same line on the ball which has been overlapping oil lines thus making the ball appear as if it cannot hook enough or on long pattern.

The more flare the more surface your ball in rolling over. The less flare the less surface your ball is covering when going down lane. So the more flare, the earlier it will react. The less flare the more it will travel down lane before starting to hook.
