Thanks for this. I found the graphs while trying to rework a stock animated title, but the UI is kinda lame by making the color emphasis on the vector handles rather than on the graph itself. Also, the handles don't behave than bezier handles, so there's a curve to learn how to shape the curves. Typical Adobe inconsistency.

I noticed that if you were working on the "Scale" instead of the "Position", there are two graph editors. Can someone please explain what the two graphs are for?
@Krosskaos
@Krosskaos 4 жыл бұрын
Those are your 1) Value graph (at the top) and your 2) Speed graph (below the value graph) which I show in this video. The former shows you your change in value over time, and the latter shows you your change in speed over time (velocity). You can use either one to achieve similar results, they just visually represent the data differently. You don't get the value graph when you are changing position since it has two parameters. Scale only has one.

Any way to change the exact values of the variables that result in the speed curve? Fiddling with these nameless knobs is driving me nuts.
@Krosskaos
@Krosskaos 3 жыл бұрын
I do not believe there is any place to type in the values for the knobs like there are in After Effects. Premiere Pro's keyframe velocity controls are pretty rudimentary. Right clicking the actual keyframes and selecting the ramp types or choosing Ease In/Ease Out are the main controls which can help get more precise velocity control. Also keep in mind that for most parameters you will have two graphs one on top of the other. They both show the same data but are controlled slightly differently.

@@Krosskaos I just did multiple keyframes to reach *sort of* the desired outcome. Looks like anything motion-related on Premiere HAS to be done through keyframes... This tool feels incomplete, I could do the math to know the exact values I needed for the motion, but if there's nowhere to put them, then there's no point. SMH

For scale I can't seem to independently adjust the speed without adjusting the scale as well?
@Krosskaos
@Krosskaos Жыл бұрын
The graph editor in Premiere Pro is kind of primitive compared to the one that is in After Effects. You'll see two graphs on top of each other: the top graph displays value, and the bottom graph displays speed. They both have a positive and negative half, the default value for keyframes on the velocity graph being zero. If you move the handles on the velocity graph (the bottom one) you may accidentally cause your keyframes to move into the negative side if you pull them too far downwards. So if you don't want to change the value of your scale keyframes at all, I would use the top graph and not use the bottom one. You can use either one just as effectively, but using the top graph ensures that when you move the handles that the keyframes themselves don't change their values.

What if you want a smooth faster movement instead of having it speed up or slow down?
@Krosskaos
@Krosskaos 3 жыл бұрын
In that case you would want to ease in and ease out. You can either drag both of your pivot points towards the middle of your two key frames so that your graph looks like a parabola. Or you could right click your first key frame, select "Ease Out" under Temporal Interpolation, and select "Ease In" for your second key frame. And if the animation is happening too slow for you, you can just pull the key frames closer together, or pull the pivot points closer to the middle.

Thank you!!!!!! How can velocity be removed?
@Krosskaos
@Krosskaos 3 жыл бұрын
On Windows, if you Ctrl + left click on a pivot point, it will reset the velocity back to default. On Mac I believe it is command + left click And to clarify, "default" velocity is no velocity.

How would you do this for Time Remapping?
@Krosskaos
@Krosskaos 4 жыл бұрын
The graph editor works differently with time remapping, and unfortunately is a bit hard to describe in a comment. You essentially add a keyframe at the beginning and end of where you want your time displacement to happen in your footage. Then, you then would go to your graph editor by using the drop-down menu shown in this video and drag the line in between the two keyframes up or down, depending on whether you want to slow or speed up that section. If you want to ramp up or ramp down your speed at the beginning or end, you would click one of your keyframes, and drag to the left or right. This will create a speed ramp effect which you can then tweak to your liking.

is velocity the same as speedramping? When I searched 4 velocity in the search bar, a bunch of videos about speed ramping showed up
@Krosskaos
@Krosskaos 5 жыл бұрын
The concept is the same, but they are different actions. If you were to load a clip into Premiere and click on Time Remapping, you would notice you are animating speed and not velocity. Velocity changes the dynamics of whatever movements you are animating, while time remapping is linear. Some people use those terms interchangeably which can make it a bit confusing. You can change the velocity of the time remapping the same way outlined in this video (under the "time remapping" tab in effect controls). Also, you can't do Time Remapping or speed ramping on anything else other than the "speed" of a video.

is there a way to move the points without moving the entire thing?
@Krosskaos
@Krosskaos 4 жыл бұрын
Not sure exactly what you mean, but the points on the velocity graph mirror the position of your key-frames. Moving the key-frames closer or farther apart from each other shifts the graph. There's no way to stop this from happening, though, you just have to keep tweaking until you get the look you're going for.
@2chill
@2chill 4 жыл бұрын
Krosskaos for example i’m after effects ik your able to get the square point somewhat still while moving the circle that extends out of it to the left without moving the square point
@Krosskaos
@Krosskaos 4 жыл бұрын
@@2chill You can hold shift and drag the point down to "0" to snap your points to 0 px/sec, then drag your anchor points while still holding shift to change the velocity. Or, alternatively, you can set your graph type to "Edit Value Graph" instead of "Edit Speed Graph" at the bottom. This will let you edit the value of the parameter that you are editing instead of the speed (which can work almost the same way). The points do not move at all in the value graph unless you purposefully move them.
