About shiny design, i would preferred if only the copper part (ore part) was shiny and the others was not
@ktaylor90953 жыл бұрын
Imagine making a puzzle like this that is so tightly machined that it can only be put together when the parts have the right temperature (due to thermal expansion), and it locks hard when all the parts are the same temperature.
@mrmorton143 жыл бұрын
When I saw the pic that was my first thought.
@fibbooo11233 жыл бұрын
I don’t think it’s temperature as much as it is wringing

I love this idea. Kind of like those glass bulbs with the colored fluid that moves to the top of the bulb when you hold it in your hand.
@xenonram3 жыл бұрын
@@fibbooo1123 he was proposing an idea. How are you going to tell him that the method in his idea is wrong? Temperature would work more than wringing the pieces together. Temperature differential would make it impossible to take apart/put together, wringing would just make it slightly sticky.

I did have the thought "well, there's the proof of concept, but it's never gonna look this good and fit so perfectly in mass production." then I clicked the kickstarter link. $200. Well, you absolutely get what you pay for. A $50 version wouldn't be a work of art on the same level as this and if it's not a work of art then all you're left with is an okay puzzle. Too rich for my blood but I always appreciate the chance to see something like this, made with care by a real craftsman. And, of course, the absolute joy Mr. Puzzle gets out of putting it together!

When I think of copper ore I think of my childhood school days in Butte Montana, where we crossed the railroad tracks for the rail company owned by Anaconda that they used to transport ore from the mines in Butte to the smelter in Anaconda 25 miles away. A lot of ore fell off those ore cars, and we would pick them up and cart them in our pockets to our school, and used them to draw h op scotch grids on the playground. Save the school a lot of expense on chalk, trust me :-)

If you think about ore, its the deposit of a material before its melted down and processed into its pure respective metal ingot (or something like that idk I'm not an expert). So I personally think the rough finish would make more sense than a shiny finish, both of which would look very nice regardless. but just based on the name of the puzzle, "Ore Cube", and what it means, I would go with a rough finish.
