Also when you think how much data we can get on a laptop now, when you think it used to be strobe light and feeler gauges, maybe a vac pump if you were posh, the rest was by ear(pinking) or colour of spark plugs lol

When my son started as an apprentice tech the first thing I told him was get good at diagnosis above all else. He took that advice and is now highly paid with a company car and very few techs get a car to drive. Diagnosis is a learned art and something that can't be taught.

100% agree the best technician I know always used to buy heavily depreciated cars he could not afford to fix. Just meant he learnt to rebuild everything and ensured if he was buying parts it was the right one

I originally came to the channel and got hooked watching you rebuild an rs3 engine. How you rebuilt it in an almost robotic way oozing knowledge and explaining everything you did as you went along as well as detailing the exact reason for its failure in the first place, was amazing. I reckon your best content is showing us what you do how you do it and the end results. Not too arsed about the bikes (sorry just not into em) don’t mind the odd bit of showboating round a track (now and again at most) but I enjoy watching you and the lads work miracles on the things in the workshop. There are very few people as capable as you and your team (if at all) - and it’s addictive watching your skills play out.

Very interesting. I am in New Zealand and have had the engine on my rs4 rebuilt due to broken valve spring including sleeved block and pretty much new everything. Probably doesn’t make economic sense. I do have similar issues with hesitation under light load when cold so may need to have the pumps looked at.The car only has 65000km but I guess age takes its toll.

Personally, I think more videos of diagnosing and fixing shop cars along with playtime activities when they occur would be worth putting some time into. See how it goes for a while then change formula as needed. I'd love more bike videos personally, I thought the MotoGP aero one was one of the best. Hi Ricky, I have been in this trade for over 40 years, the last 12, running our own business. We build and prepare classic race cars, from the 60's onwards. Time after time, trying to save a customer money equals us losing money to do so. It's just the two of us, me & my Son, hard enough to pay the bills and ourselves these days. Bear in mind the owners are often far more wealthy than we will ever be ! Good luck mate, losing key staff at this time is making your life harder, we understand how you feel.

Love these vids! Love the character building as well! RS4 is the car I've always loved but never had a chance to own. Vids of what you have to deal with day to day will give people insight and maybe help them be more understanding when it comes to wait times. Whatever projects you do I think has to be VAG, not Japanese, so what about engine swap into older cars? Or fitting turbos to R8s or Lambos? I think the idea of buying a broken supercar and fixing/modifying at the same time is a good way to go

Loving the content, the banter is very entertaining. The knowledge you share is so mid blowing. I think the problem is that you're running a business that the youtube channel promotes and slips in and out of. The business is the priority and not youtube. It's easy for people that have made a business from youtube to perhaps not understand the difference. I say keep doing what you're passionate about and the lovers will love and the haters will hate but keeping you happy is whats important. Keep up the good work and thank you for delivering amazing entertaining content.

Hi Ricky. Love the channel and, in particular, your work ethic. Doing things correctly and even, in some cases, better than the factory is something that few workshops do. It's refreshing to see the attention to detail you and your guys take and you're possibly the best example of "doing things properly" I've seen. RE future content I'd like to share my thoughts. It seems to be that the videos that do well appeal to two distinct demographics of 1. realistic for the viewer to achieve and 2. Complete fantasy purchase for the viewer. Middle of the road content doesn't seem to attract the same kind of numbers. Given that nobody understands KZbin anyway I'd like to offer a suggestion. More buyers guides. You're knowledge base and experience would make for an incredibly helpful resource for buyers. Personally I watch all of your videos as even if I don't particularly like the content like the bike stuff (sorry) because the banter is as entertaining as the subject matter. Keep the content coming.

This is a channel for the professional mechanics out there looking to expand their knowledge. No “DIYer” will ever do the things you do or are interested in the details. That’s why your channel struggles. It’s very specific stuff aimed at a very specific audience. Unfortunately the masses don’t live vicariously through what you do. While Matt’s Armstrongs channel they do.

I'll never understand why people buy electrical parts from euros etc, its clear they are very hit and miss across all brands. Usually, it's all cheap shit same with abs sensors they rarely work unless they are genuine! Atleast you have managed to get it sorted. Unless you are a business owner the stress of knowing you have problem jobs to deal with is a big weight! Once completed the relief you feel is massive.

Stock pump was all good but restricted the power we wanted. We got a replacement pump from bartek and that was even worse! Bought an 034 motorsport pump and that was all good! After arguing like mad with bartek who were blaming our tune, they supplied a file which it done on there too! More arguing and we fitted a new LPFP.. of still did it! 034 motorsport HPFP fixed it
