Nice to see it got to you, i did recommend sending it down to you, as we knew it need some sort of rebuild, and we are not geared up to have projects sat waiting. hell shes done a job on it 😮😮 As a favour we looked at it quickly as we had a massive back log and to get it off the road for him.. We told him the chain had gone, due to that crank being hard to turn, and we never looked more into it, but we knew it was not healthy. It then went to a diffrent garage, who i guess wrote on the bonnet and by all accounts they just pulled the oil filter to dignose it 🙄.

Ricky some years ago I had a customer phone me up with a problem with a Kubota tractor making an engine knocking noise wile running . I turned up on site and turned the engine over by hand , it turned over ok by hand and made a small noise. Well thought nothing of it so I started the engine and then turned it off , it was quite a noise it made . Taken the head and to my surprise like your R8 had no piston only the Conrod and gudgin pin on number 4 cylinder . There was a large groove on each side of the bore where the Gudgin pin was running. This engine was running like this for some time believe it or not . We got the engine bore bored out and dry sleeved it with a new piston rings and new shells . There was no other engine damage we found after a strip down and inspection. Unbelievable.

Seen this a few times when hot testing engines on the test bench, usually caused by the snap rings missing when building the pistons up, once they get warm they rattle their tits off until they go bang. Usually it ended with the rod sticking out of the block and a pair of soiled underpants 💩

U should do all your oil change at 3,000 miles rather than 5 or 6 and don't matter what high quality oil u use just do it at 3,000 miles and u shouldn't have any engine problems if u maintain your car right

The gas struts are mounted the wrong way. The piston rod needs to face downwards. Like they’re mounted now the gasket will fail and they’ll lose gas.

No, more than likely an injector issue causing lean detonation, piston breaks up and the bits get squashed between wjat remains of piston and head.
