I had one of those queens today that I just couldn't find. I needed to find her as she was going into a nuc I have sold and being picked up this week. I finally found her......after I dropped the comb she was on. 20 minutes later I found her climbing up the side of the EZ nuc box. Needless to say, she got marked!

hahaha, that's often how it goes. Some queens love to run and hide, others just sit there and ignore you.

As a relatively new bee keeper i have quickly discovered how good queen's are at hiding. When I do inspections I don't always even try and look for the queen, instead I look for clear evidence of her prescence. She will just run rings around me.

Soo... The 628DirtRooster is inferring that because he's so big, all the beehives look small in comparison? Referencing that Mr. Ed comment that he's so small, all his hive removals looks big. But I got to say that I could feel both the bees walking on you and that sting, it made my skin crawl! Because I was stung when I was young and it sticks to me still. Hi Randy its Gavin Tanner . Im borrowing another phone for now mine is in for repairs. This small colony looks like it has capensis . Black bees . Im not sure if you get them there but i did see a few black bees and the 1st comb you pulled . The wax cappings aint looking good . I know you found the queen good job on that. Here in South Africa we have scutelata and apis melifera capensis which is commonly known as the cape invader bee. They will eventually take over the roll of the queen and then the hive will collapse. Its a big problem we have here in South Africa. Would be interesting to find out if the capensis made it to the U.S.A Keep the awesome video's Rolling !!!!
@628DirtRooster3 жыл бұрын
Hey Gavin. I had to look that one up. I've never heard of capensis. Looks like it's a problem found in Africa. Thanks for enlightening me to new info. No capensis here thankfully. We don't even have Africanized bees in our state.

The wax cappings are dome shaped and spotty . Red flag for capensis . And Black bees . That hive definitely without a doubt has Capensis. Remember you can still have a queen right colony and have capensis infestation.
