Have you tried Absorbine Plus for those bugs. When I lived in the Midwest we used that during the buggy season. It has an order about it that really keeps the bugs out of your face. I used an old hat and rolled it on the brim and it kept the bugs out of my face and eyes. Just a FYI.

Well, maybe a trifle dorky...but how dorky would you look all spotty with skeeter bites? 😉 A great day indeed, can't wait to see some slices. The first red jasper reminds me somewhat of the poppy jasper we find here on the Olympic Peninsula.

That first one was one you could just sit and gaze at forever. Those green jaspers are gifts because they tend to get chewed up by the big currents. Wow,.. I just want to comment on every one you find! That yellow spotted one was fantastic and the dark one was so solid and gorgeous! And you have got to love the gnarly ones with so much character. And then that light one with all of the banding was so bright and uplifting like a beautiful sunrise bringing in the light of a new day. The hidden agate with the blue banded heart was true eye candy. I love those petrified wood knots are agatized or jasperized...nothing better! You are just finding sooo many keepers. Oh so nice! Keep getting out there, MRM. The days are growing shorter and the rocks are calling....seek on...and enjoy those offerings of The Mighty River. I sure did this time. Thanks for sharing. Smiles to ya! (And NO !!!...rockers never look like dorks....well...🙃...we are always beautiful on the inside at least...just like the rocks we find. Our outside coverings just hide our true beauty. )😀

Just crushing it as usual! We get a fairly good amount of palm wood down here in Texas, but I don't recall many pieces that quality that are THAT big, for sure! It also looks like you, I, and Agate Dad all pulled a similar rock in the same week. We were comparing one from his latest vid to one I found the same day, and then here you come with that one at 2:25 on this video. Kinda cool! All I can say is I hope the agates are as big and beautiful when we get up there next month!

What gorgeous rocks!!! Don't worry about how you look in netting. It's better than red mosquito bites or even worse horse flies or black flies (we have black flies in the UP of Michigan...awful). I just got my husband and son net jackets with attached hoods so there is no opening at the neck. You can also get whole suits, including mittens and booties. Check out Michigan Rocks on Lake Superior this summer. He's got a bug suit. You find some really beautiful rocks out there. Can't wait to see what you do with them. Every time you bend over for a rock I see six more that I would like to have too. Especially the petrified wood. I love pet wood and it's very rare where we live. You're very smart to carry a little water in a bucket like that. I've seen that before and I think it's a great idea.

Ooooo fun day! Some of those big agates would look unreal tumbled. Do you ever tumble the big ones? Or are you and Drogon on a slab streak?😆
@MontanaRockMom2 жыл бұрын
Yes, sometimes I tumble the big ones. However, it's usually to get the rough outer layer off to clean it up a bit. I find I need to get the deeper pits or cracks fixed up by hand or else I don't like the finished product. Sometimes I will even clean up some spots with my Dremel.
