I don't think this is technically a "public service announcement." It was a commercial paid for by the American Egg Board. The American Egg Board's website says: "The AEB is the national marketing checkoff program for U.S. egg farmers. It exists only to increase demand for U.S. eggs and egg products through research, education and promotion." That said, I remember the jingle from when I was a kid.

The difference between a commercial and a public service announcement is that time for a PSA is provided by the station for free. Since the American Egg Board paid for this, it’s a commercial (just like the California Raisins spots were commercials paid for by the California Raisin Advisory Board). On the other hand, the crash test dummy spots were PSAs produced by the Ad Council on behalf of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and aired by stations at no cost.

The "egg spokesman" is a actor. I dont know his name but seen him on various TV shows and what not back in the 70s. Seems like I remember him playing a teacher on something.
