Dr. Berg, I went on your fasting diet and ate a lot of things you suggested. I want to thank you because no other Doctor gave me the advice that you have. I figured out I was insulin resistant from watching all your Diabetic Vids. I am type II diabetic, WAS overweight. I went from 267 down to 212 and still losing. I take a small shot of good virgin olive oil, coffee in the morning and around 12-1 I have eggs for lunch with an english muffin. Eat a sensible dinner at 6 and don't eat till the next day, sometimes I cheat and have a little ice cream. lol. My A1C is 5.6 and my sugar in the morning ranges from 85 to 95. terrible advice to encourage people to eat that many eggs daily, it is loaded in cholesterol - a NORMAL healthy liver SHOULD in theory downregulate and upregulate cholesterol - unfortunately some people do not properly regulate cholesterol, in the case you cannot downregulate cholesterol production, you must limit your consumption of dietary cholesterol - so the whole eat that many eggs daily is not for everyone..............because it is not safe for everyone.

Thank you! This confirms further to me that eggs are an incredible superfood. When I got diagnosed with T2 diabetes about 18 months ago I immediately adjusted my diet. I started eating eggs every morning. My doctors (primary and endocrinologist) said go easy on eggs, no more than 5 per week. I went from 2 a day to 3 and then 4 and I still do 4 a day and they are JUMBO eggs. I also usually have bacon with it (2-3 strips). When I went back after 3 months of 3-4 eggs per day (and I have been on a statin) my cholesterol, triglycerides had dropped from very high to mid-normal range. Next 3 months later they dropped to low normal. That's after INCREASING my eggs intake. I do 4 a day still, missing a day here or there but almost every day. And bonus - they are DELICIOUS. I thought I'd get sick of eggs but I haven't. And my health has improved, including my diabetic retinopathy (because I understand the lutein in eggs helps eyes so I credit the eggs with that). Thanks for spreading the word. Oh, and my doctors? when I told them I was having 4 eggs per day they both then said (independently of each other, not knowing what the other said) - "keep eating the eggs". Exactly that, they said!!!! They know it is a superfood but I think they're guided to be overly cautious and are a little afraid to tell people to eat them. Thank God for doctors like you who spread the truth about this superfood!!! I am thoroughly convinced - it's been 18 months and my health has only gotten better! By the way they removed me from taking insulin a year ago and just reduced my metformin by half 3 months ago!
@johnny076522 жыл бұрын
@Jul I think, in fairness to the doctors, they tell people how to do natural things to control their diabetes but then most diabetics don't do it at all. Then the doctors become jaded and quickly move them onto medication and/or insulin. Everyone, just about, that I have met and that I know who is diabetic does NOT carefully watch their diet even though they know they're supposed to. One of them even says "Well I'm on metformin anyway so I might as well just let that do its work!!!" So it's not really the doctors, in my opinion. My doctor makes nothing from me taking metformin or insulin. My doctor actively tries to get me off of both of those. But my doctors also deal with dummies like my friends who don't want to change their diets. Here you have a video of a doctor telling people to eat eggs. Most will NOT listen. If they were his patients he'd have no choice but to put them on medication if they don't listen to his instructions on how to NATUALLY manage their diabetes.

Among their many benefits, 3-4 eggs are perfect for optimizing choline and selenium levels. Most selenium supplements are way too high, so that’s why I prefer eggs. The choline content has powerful benefits for the liver and brain, in addition to maintaining insulin sensitivity.

@@Fishin4funout4trout Eggs (and maybe occasional fish) are the best way to get selenium. Brazil nuts are less consistent (the amount varies a lot). I would cook them though, it allows you to absorb the nutrients better.

Most people can synthesize choline, but if you’re not one of those people then eggs are a safe way to prevent deficiency.

How much does it cost to buy and raise chickens?
@jimbinger2 жыл бұрын
Dr Berg. As someone who raises chickens, I cannot overstate the benefits of not feeding your chickens at all. Rather it is best to provide them with a composting mass such as laeves and grass clippings on which they can forrage. This will provide them with warmth, essential mycelium, bugs and potentially worms. In return they will supply you with super rich compost. The most they require from you is water, a safe roosting spot and nesting boxes. Hope you find this useful.
@SuperheroArmorychannel2 жыл бұрын
Am i to understand that you don’t give them any chicken feed at all? What type of climate do you live in? How large of an area do they have for free ranging? What about winter time? I’ve been considering trying this with my flock but i would like to hear more about how you are doing this. Thanks.
@chemtrail292 жыл бұрын
@@SuperheroArmorychannel I would like to know as well.
@jimbinger2 жыл бұрын
@@SuperheroArmorychannel Hi Dr Berg, That is correct. They are not given any feed when I have an ample mass of leaves, grass clippings and other compostable material. We live in North Idaho where the winters do not typically go below 10 degrees farhenheit with substantial snowfall. The composting of the mass provides significant warmth for the birds which, by the way, is amplified by their fecal waste. The chickens constantly forrage which helps keep the process going resulting in beautiful rich compost . Normally there is a more than amply of nutrients (bugs, worms, vegetation, and mycelium) to keep them much better nourished than with feed. It is an odd concept initially although consider any animal's natural diet. The chickens range within a fenced area of aproximately 100' x 100'. The ranging area is not particularly important while ample bio mass is. Hope this is helpful! Thanks for the great video content. Jim
@SuperheroArmorychannel2 жыл бұрын
@@jimbinger thanks for the information! A a few more questions: How many birds do you have in the 100’ x 100’ area? How many eggs do you get on average per day? Is there lots of grass growing in free range area? Or do the bird primarily feed from the compost material?
@jimbinger2 жыл бұрын
@@SuperheroArmorychannel We have 14 chickens (Novagen) and ,in the warmer months, we average 10 eggs per day. We don't provide artificial light during the winter thus production drops accordingly. The area of fenced space is much larger than necessary as it was previously enclosed to protect a garden. Relatively little space is needed for the process itself. The essential element is the size of composting mass one can accumulate. In a smaller mass supplemental feed might be needed but it might surprise you how the birds adapt. We learned of the principle through a video about a very large scale poultry composting concern in, I believe, New Hampshire. If I come across the video again, I'll be happy to forward the link. Cheers! Jim

Dr. Berg is still the better researcher, in my opinion, and his videos are much easier to 'digest,' if you will, because they're so much shorter and more frequent. Dr. Ekberg makes videos that are 30+ minutes, and I don't have the necessary attention span, unfortunately. He does offer very, very good information, though, very much in line with Dr. Berg's. He speaks rather slowly, both to let information sink in, and because he's Swedish, so English isn't his first language, and by his own admission, he has to really think of the words he wants to use. Just wanted to make you aware that there is at least one other good, conscientious physiologist out there who is also working hard to inform people of the dangers of foul food practices, wrong and harmful foods and products, and who does his own research, just like Dr. Berg does.

Dr Berg, when i was a child, 40 plus years ago…my grandma had a hacienda down in Mexico and she of course had animals they consumed, and they planted corn, beans, many veggies, all natural, no pesticides,…. And my grandma fed them left over of our own food. They loved wet corned tortillas made into little pieces, rice, veggies, dry kernels just barely grinded…etc….the were also all day outside running a round…and they had a rooster in each chicken coup. The caws eat the corn husks, the grass and the dry cut cobs, the grass they mowed from the fields.. the goats eat all the leaves from the bushes that had thorns, and the grass from the lower lands of the hacienda…they very seldom had to buy anything to feed the animals, if you know what to do its not hard nor expensive to keep animals. They kept seeds to replant corn, beans….etc….you get everything from the plants themselves…thats how people before used to live… when they killed pig they kept all the fat for cooking, and use every piece of the animal…. If they killed a caw…they eat everything…and even used the skin, their intestine to make sausages, they, with the caw,s milk they made cheese, buttermilk, ….omg everything was so delicious…..

Happy healthy eggs taste best. Poor stressed out chickens have their cortisol thru the roof all day every day how do you think that’s gonna affect the egg or even the poor chicken itself. If your gonna eat an animal at least give it a good life and be kind to it.

You are absolutely right! I grew up in Zimbabwe and we could always tell which house on the street was cooking chicken because of the nice chicken smell, then moved to Australia 20 years ago and the chickens are bland, no smell no flavour i even had to add chicken salt which is so bad for our health. I feel like the damage to both agriculture and aquaculture (fake salmon painted pink just like the egg yolks) is probably irreversible at this point.

You go Stan. That is rightly so. I agree fully with what you say. My mom raised chickens that let them eat insects, and worms, and it was free range as you would say and they were the best.

100% right. We need to stop being so utilitarian and actually consider the lives of the animals we eat - they want to live a decent life too before they die. Ideally free and wild, but if not, at least a decent, albeit sadly confined, existence.

Since I was a teenager, I eat a minumun of 20 eggs a week - and up to 40, including ones that are part of other dishes I make. In the 80's people always told me I "would get fat" and "have high cholesterol" . Almost forty years later, I still have very LOW cholesterol, and a high good cholesterol. Other than +/- 5 or so pounds, I've been the same weight since high school and can wear Levi's that I've had since then - and have a 21.5 BMI. I've noticed that in the past few years more and more health professionals are also realizing the benefits or eating eggs. 😊

I, too, have always eaten at least two eggs daily from childhood, (now over 60). I noticed the difference very quickly if for some reason I "lapsed", (as when they were in the doldrums in the 80s), and quickly restored them to my diet on the grounds that my body knows best.

I also eat 3-4 eggs per day with an avacado and siracha to be specific. I also eat about a 20+ garlic stuffed olives per day and most days some kind of gourd usually in the form of canned pumpkin puree. Those three things alone give me allot of the hard to get nutritional components on the daily. I feel like if you approach nutrition this way it's best. Find a base line of a few ingredients and recipes to get the harder to get micros and aminos etc. For example my olives, avacado and eggs, fish/ lean protein and gourds I eat every day assure no matter what else I eat that day that I got things like vitamin E,A,C magnesium, potassium, "healthy fat" mostly out of the way. I'll get more omega threes in to but I'll use variety there. Somedays I'll eat smoked herring for example others I may just take some cod liver oil. Anyway point my is find some stuff you like that has harder to get micros and is a good spread of everything you need. This should be about half your calories for the day the other half or whatever you just don't have to worry just eat whatever as long as it's not processed junk or all carbs or something. Be consistent and spontaneous everyday. GL. I feel like a babbled and that made little sense. If so just go add up the spectrum and quantities of all the vitamins, minerals, antioxidants etc you can cover with just a cpl eggs 1 avacado 25 olives and can of pumpkin puree or some sorta gord like acorn squash or butternut. You will see almost all of your base.line needs are met with like 1200 calories. you still got another 1200+ calories left for the day to fill in the quantity but at least you won't have missed anything. Ppl for days for example without getting things like vitamin E. That won't happen if you make sure you have a vitamin E food you like you eat every day Another way to say what I'm saying is to use whole foods how people use supplements. Find a few whole foods that represent a set of supplements and eat them.efwry day instead of supplements all the time.

I’ve slowly gravitated toward eating only a handful of foods, my “base”, and it has helped me immensely. I’m no longer a meat-eater, as my blood pressure got out of control, and meat was one of the things that was causing it. My body’s inflammatory response to meat was wearing me down, so I gave it up for a Plant-based diet, and it has worked so far. I don’t miss meat. I found a few “base” vegetables (carrots, kale, celery, plus a few others), and it has allowed me to eat so much better than than I did before. Both my weight and BP have dropped, and my joints don’t ache like they used to.

Excuse me for the prev comment, sent by itself for some reason. People often think especially the yolk is bad for cholesterol but it contain very important nutrients for both growth and healing, the egg whites are mostly proteins. But yolk contains good cholesterols. What’s bad for your cholesterol is eating eggs with bacon and cheese etc 😂 but eating your eggs whole is perfectly fine unless you suffer a sensitivity for certain compounds.

This is a great video, thanks Dr Berg. We made a sudden decision to leave the cities and settle in a rural area in NZ, so my husband retired earlier. In one year we have transformed part of our land into a mini orchard and vegetable garden. All my vegetable seeds are heirloom, so I can save seed. Our four chickens are fed good quality shop bought mixed grain pellets, but we treat them with thawed frozen corn and leftover rice. They are very fussy, and won’t eat the greens that we give them, but they are free range and roam all over our grassy areas. My I ask what kind of grain you ferment to give your chickens please? By fermenting, do you mean just soaking the grains in water for a day or do you also add a fermenting agent. I’ve seen some videos where people soak grains in water for a day, and some experts say not to feed them rye and barley. Thanks.
