To avoid getting sanctioned by the US if we buy too many Russian weapons. There is nothing inherently special about Israeli weapons, especially when Russian weapons would do as well. India already has a ready supply chain and production facilities for a lot of Russian weapon and parts, so any new purchase would even end up being more economical in the long term. Since Western (and Israeli) defence companies don't want to compete fairly, they resort to threats of sanctions.

@@user-g5rt89 Yes I'll add them too. But we didn't even fully recognise Israel until 1992 when Rao was pm and was opening the country up. After 1992 our relations took off and the aid during the 1999 war when India faced sanctions from the US and other countries because of the 1998 Pokhran nuclear test, was something else. Israel was pressured by the US into delaying the supply and had arms shortages but nevertheless, supplied the ammunition and weapons on time and after that also gave us laser guided bombs. Israeli director general in the Israeli defence ministry said ‘Tell us what you need and whatever we can supply, we are ready to supply. We can negotiate prices and other things later.’ Kargil solidified our ties with Israel.

Don't forget the longest 'serving' prime minister Nehru. He would have supported Palestine even after the continued backstabbing from their side. He wanted a separate Hyderabad state, not just the Hyderabad city mind you, a Hindu majority state to become another Islamic state after Pakistan. Hyderabad 's Nizam was about to be recognised as an independent nation and get UN membership. Thanks to one of his usual long foreign trips, Deputy PM Sardar Patel could act on behalf of him and thus ordered a military operation against Hyderabad and called it police action to signify that Hyderabad was Indian territory. And thanks to PM P V Narasimha Rao we could establish formal relationship with Israel against his party's wishes.

I would also like to add the historical reasons: During the exodus of Jews, India was one of the nation that accepted them wholeheartedly. India is among one of the few places where there were no Antisemitism. Jews were able to live and prosper and practice their religion in peace. Even today we have Jewish synagogues in Souther states of India. And even after the formation of Israel some of them stayed back in India and they still live here in harmony and peace. And I have heard many Israel people calling India home of their ancestors. So i think these sentiments too play a major role. ❤️

Yes, ISRO's lunar mission ( you may know it as Chandrayaan-3 was entirely handled by a senior woman scientist, she was the team lead and responsible for the mission, the women participation in STEM is still not at desirable standards but thigs are changing rapidly. The spacy agency has many more missions in the pipeline, so we may see drastic shift in women's participation in the coming years. Hopefully, thanks for being curious though, it feels good when people are genuinely interested to know things and not make a biased assumption (because I've had first hand experience of how western media manipulates India's achievements) @@freedahlogic8368

Israelis are in love with India and her people… there is some sort of bond there… thard to describe … and it has nothing to do with money, armament or business as per this video … many young Israelis travel to India after their army service to go relax - and there, they fall in love with India- they bring that love home back to Isrsel and now that love in entrenched in Israeli society irrespective of how India is forced to vote at the UN by china… I digress. I think it was Modi’s warm embrace of that child in the video - that child parents were murdered by Islamic terrorist who attacked the chabad house in New Delhi that fateful day. People needs to understand that India support Israel because when India was fighting Pakistan in 1971, no Muslim country was supporting India. Only Israel supported India when India did not even acknowledged Israel as a country even. Israel helped us many times during wars so we will of course support Israel when the whole world was against India. But yes. We condemn that innocent people should not be killed and that is no excuse in the name of human shield to keep on killing civilians. Hope Israel has some better tricks up their sleeves so innocent people don't get killed. But also wanting that Israel should be destroyed as a country and only Palestine should be there is also wrong since Palestine was created from the land of Israel. Which is a fact. Before Romans, there was no Palestine. So a two state solution is the only right thing here. But people needs to protest for the two state solution and the war to end immediately. Not end of any country.

Well said. But the problem is, Israeli elites and its politicians don't want a two-state solution despite how it could bring peace. A constant state of war is profitable to not only divert attention away from internal issues and gain American military aid but also gives them the chance to make their weapons more lucrative by making them combat proven. Not to mention Right wingers like Itamar Ben-Gvir want hostilities and are using it to facilitate US arms sales to its civilians. What is needed is Israel taking a new political approach with the aim of long term peace but that's unlikely and contradicts with the Western aspects of their culture that they share with the US and the West.
