@rohitb58342 ай бұрын
32 Brahmos isnt possible. Each BrahMos weighs 3 tons, which is almost 3 times heavier than similar Anti ship missiles on warships around the world. So 16 x BrahMos is literally a "heavy" punch. Same with the ASW capabilities. It employs Heavy 533mm torpedos which are 3x heavier than Light torpedoes employed globally on warships.

Let me tell you guys of a hilarious weird-ism of Indian navy. Back in the day when they started first building a serious blue water navy, subs were understood to be the most complex and most painstaking tech and vehicle to develop and deploy, and nuclear subs (ssn and ssbn) were considered top echelon even among those, so they prioritised developing those, thinking they would take 3-4 decades to develop (indian navy had to start from nothing in that particular case) so they just kinda paces themselves and kept developing it thinking its gonna be half a century before they can realistically deploy something like that. Funnily enough, because project was so focused (ssn and ssbn) and it was basically an undertaking by indian navy (not even indian MoD) the project was fast and and entirely completed and deployed in 30-35 yrs. What it means is india ended up having nuclear powered subs with nuclear ballistic missiles launched from them all on their own in 3 decades. It's basically a Guinness world record for developing and deploying nuclear sub program. So where's the funny part ? Well its too focused, so now india can make as many nuclear powered subs it wants but it cant make a Diesel electric sub.... :/ (indian navy has to basically buy Diesel electric propulsion retail from other accomplished OEMs... 🤦🏾♂️

those 7 warships arent the only ships India has built in the last 22 years. India has built and commissioned over 40 ships in the last 22 years. Not bad. And as of 2024, India has almost 50 ships under construction, ALL of which will enter service in the next 7 years. One of the largest naval shipbuilders in the world.
@Aerrow622 ай бұрын
@rohitb5834 Your argument is moot. It's like saying my neighbors built more apartments than me, so my performance is great. This project ran for 22 years now and consumed $7.6 billion for 7 ships that together don't carry enough ammunition to engage a major fleet by global standards. It cost is over a billion dollars per ship. That's half of what it costs for an Arleigh Burke class, which carries three times the payload. Even the numbers you gave sound terrible. Major nations have built 10 times those numbers, including cruise liners that are larger than US aircraft carriers. The production rate is too slow. They have been designing the next generation destroyer for 6 years now.
@rohitb58342 ай бұрын
@@Aerrow62Neighbors..apartments..what? Anyway, Kolkata and Vishakapatnam Class are adequately equipped for its size and tonnage. Infact they are among the best destroyers in the world today. 1 Bil$+ counts one of the cheapest among its contemporises. There are over 70 Arleigh Burke class ships with more on order. Offcourse the pricetag would be relatively cheaper, as compared to a design with 7 units. Basic economics of scale? No one is taking about Cruise liners or whatever lol. We are talkin about Naval ships. And with those numbers, as of 2024, India stands as the world's 3rd largest Naval Shipbuilder, right behind US and China. India currently has more naval ships under construction than Uk+France combined. Pretty damn impressive.
@Aerrow622 ай бұрын
@@rohitb5834 The apartment thing is an analogy to your argument of ships in other projects being counted to justify the delay in this one. Economies of scale is not a question mark. It's expected in such projects but we have fetish for luxury. China is at number one and its capacity is 232 times the US at number two. China will add over a 140 ships before 2030 making it a 440 ship navy while the US will add three ships every year. India is a very confused country. They want integrate everything in one platform. End result.... takes a hell lot of a time to integrate everything in one whole unit. By the time its up and running, the technology becomes obsolete. Now they want to integrate the new tech and the saga continues. Example: By the time they fitted every goodie on to the Su 30 MKIs, the aircraft itself is nearing its life. All of this was fine when India didnt have much money to spend. Now with the economy better, India should get rid of its scarcity mentality and go for specialized platforms.

confused yes, but India wants the best of everything in a single platform, and thats a good decision. Only thing is, this decision should come quickly without delaying projects. But no lol, technologies dont get obsolete. Vishakapatnam and Kolkata class are among the best Destroyers on this planet. Talking about Su-30MKI, it wont get obsolete before 2040. You have no idea what "nearing its life" means lol

@@rohitb5834 I know Mig 21, mirages etc have gone beyond "nearing its life". Su-30 MKI is already 25-28 years old. India is spending 7.5 Billion usd on upgrading it. This upgrade is done because the technology on it is already obsolete.
@rohitb58342 ай бұрын
@@fun3721 Mirage2000 are not obsolete yet and still capable, atleast till about 2030. Su-30MKI is 22 year old tech (from induction date) and thats nothing lmao. Fighter jet technology dont get "obsolete" for about 40-50 years. Look at the backbone of the USAF, the F-16s. And yes, fighter jets would be upgraded with mid life upgrade packages to stay cutting edge.
@fun37212 ай бұрын
@@rohitb5834 Haha. I strongly suggest you read up on what / How tech has evolved in the last 25 years since Su 30 was inducted. If you are upgrading implies you have stuff thats obsolete. The backbone of the US you mention about.... is considered old and outdated. They still sell it and make money is completely a different issue.
@rohitb58342 ай бұрын
@@fun3721Just because Tech evolves , the previous stuff does not become "Obsolete" . Just because Rafale FR2 came out, Rafale FR1 did not become "Obsolete". Just because Rafale FR3 was inducted, Rafale FR2 does not become "Obsolete". In about a couple of years, Rafale FR4 will be inducted, that doesn mean the newly acquired Rafale FR3 of the IAF becomes "Obsolete". Lol. Study the meaning of the word "Obsolete". There are a lot of areas between "State of the art" and "Obsolete". When the Su-30MKI entered service in the early 2000s, alongside the Eurofighter and Rafale, it could have been strongly argued that Su-30MKI is the best of the three, However as Eurofighter and Rafales evolved in tranches, Su-30MKI fell behind. The Super Sukhoi upgrade program plans to bring it along the same technological capability as a Rafale FR3, roughly. Does not mean the existing Su-30MKI or France operating Rafale FR1 or Rafale FR2 is "Obsolete". What is truly obsolete in the IAF. The Mig-21s. Thats it. Remaining all fighters are categorized as 4th or 4.5th gen , similar to what top airforces around the world have.

For meaningfull control of IOR, we will need both IAC-2 & 3...by the time IAC-3 comes INS Vikramaditya will not have much life left...therefore we must move ahead with IAC-2 similar to INS Vikrant with intended induction being 2030-2034 while the Indo-French IAC-3 could be inducted by 2038
