I am from Batanes and we'd love to see Tao people of Orchid Island visit Batanes. This video was made 11 months ago and there was a mention of a planned trip to Batanes by boat by the Tao. Perhaps the makers of this video might be interested to revisit the Tao people if they did push through about their plan and to document the trip.

when i was young, i indeed see taiwanese who comes from taiwan and selling their goods around town. yes they don't go thru the embassy but during those time, batanes is very isolated to the rest of the philippines. it's not even a tourist destination yet back then. the locals are not bothered. during foundation day celebration of batanes, they will sometimes come to perform some dance. batanes and taiwan relationship is very deep as their ancestors are the same.

Me also, my mom told they visit and perform some sort of rice dance(pan asad or rice pounding) during our fiestas annually but for some reason they don't visit no more... I've researched their culture and wanna go there in some point in time.

it is them who we're actually the ancestors of the native of philippines, taiwan is the original homeland of austronesian people
@derbdep Жыл бұрын
although this is true for other Formosan groups, on the case of the Tao people of orchid island, they migrated back north FROM the Batanes. the Ivatan language is mutually intelligible with Tao language directly, similar to the mutual intelligibility between Ilonggo and Cebuano (both Visayan languages). both Tao and Ivatan are bashiic languages under the northern Philippine languages branch of the Philippine languages. This means the video is correct- the Tao of Orchid island derived from the Ivatans of Batanes directly.

This specific group is from Philippines, they are not Formosans because they speak a Malayo-Polynesian branch of Austronesian, Batanic to be specific.
@benginaldclocker2891Ай бұрын
The Tao, while their ancestors are from Taiwan, came from the Philippines. They migrated back to Taiwan for some reason, hence why it's the only Malayo-Polynesian branch in Taiwan.

native people of taiwan are related to the native of the philippines they are austronesians and the languages they spoke are related to one another, austronesian languages in the philippines are not dying like the ones in taiwan, those austronesian languages there in the philippines have tens of million of native speakers, the languages never experienced any declines like the ones in the taiwan, all indigenous languages in the philippines are well and alive and they are all thriving, taiwanese natives are pretty unlucky to the situation compared to the philippines despite being colonized by various european colonists like spaniards
