I don't wear makeup and love my jeans and t-shirts. I'm a very happy, centered biological FEMALE. I live in the country and run a homestead, I'm still a biological Female. Yet if current thought were to have its way, they would say I'm really a male in a female body which is downright delusional. I love being a woman.
@meagan86665 жыл бұрын
I do wear makeup, I like it....it is fun for me. I prefer dresses over slacks and pants. I'm a loving spouse of a very long relationship that started when I and my spouse were still in our teens (I have only ever had a relationship with one person my entire life....that is my spouse today). I'm a parent and a professional in a high tech field and have had the same job for almost twenty years. I'm a veteran having served in the US Army during a time of conflict. I'm also a transgender woman. I have been the way I am today since I could remember as early as four or five years old. I was raised in a very religious family and I was taught to be ashamed of myself and to feel a great deal of guilt over being "different". I am neither perverted or someone attempting to gain access to women spaces for evil intent (unless going to the bathroom is evil, I guess it depends on what you eat). I transitioned many years ago, before this all became political. I no more belong in a men's restroom than any of the women on this panel. After years of using the women's restroom the most common thing ever said to me is "I like your shoes". The equality act would keep people from discriminating against LGBTQ people in employment and housing. This just adds LGBTQ people to a list of people who need protection in those areas. The erasure and harm that some small number of women are complaining about just doesn't show up in any real way statistically. Transgender people have been here since recorded history. We can be found in every country in the world and from every social and economic background. My job is highly technical and I'm one of the best in my field, at what I do. There are transgender doctors, lawyers, police, scientists, even military service members.....enough to show that we are far from delusional people. As far as science goes you shouldn't have to look any further than the fact that transgender people exist.....we are telling you that we are here. If that isn't enough here is Dr. Robert Sapolsky who is a professor of neuroscience at Stanford....hear what he says about the state of being transgender and some studies that have been done on it: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e6PIqairbbWHpZo At the end of the day, we are human beings and worthy of fair treatment. Don't hate us because you don't understand us. I'm a good person....if I saw you in trouble and in need of help, I would stick out my hand. Would you refuse it because I'm transgender? What side of history will you be on?

There is some serious political re-jiggering going on these days. I'm a left-leaning academic, but my Twitter feed is filling up with a lot of people who are, like the presenters here, "politically homeless." The DNC has rebranded itself as some kind of social activist organization representing the complaints of ever-smaller minority populations (which bathroom you can use without people freaking out is such a banal, pointless issue that I can't believe we're actually discussing it in the face of all the things that are actually going wrong in the world), and when people don't vote for them, they tell themselves and the world that it's because of bigotry. Meanwhile, they ignore the fact that many of Trump's talking points were CLASSICALLY LIBERAL. Things like protectionist trade practices, protecting middle and lower-middle-class industrial jobs, ensuring that the working class is protected from being outbid by foreign workers willing to settle for much less... If the Dems had any sense at all, they'd see that positions that historically would have been associated with their party are now those of people with "R" after their names. When believing in sexual dimorphism gets you kicked out of the good graces of polite, latte-liberal society, those people seek shelter elsewhere. I think we're going to see more and more of this as the Dems boil off reasonable people, leaving an ever-more-concentrated sticky syrup of batshit insane. Most people, regardless of party or stripe, are moderate. That's because most people are reasonable, thinking grownups.

"Inclusivity means all voices are welcome except women's, except lesbians" I feel so bad for her watching her cry as she says this but inclusivity has never meant what she thinks it does. Were so called "homophobes" included? Should they be? If someone supported their gay friends but opposed public money being spent on celebrating gayness and LGBT issues in school, were they included? Has she learned nothing? Lesbian voices are still included as long as they *as individuals* agree with the woke trans positions. Women are still included unless they are wrongthinkers. She's looking at herself as part of a victim group based on who she is rather than what she thinks. She needs to understand that "the left", or those to the left of her, will continue to use identity politics when it favors them but will ignore the same group based victimhood when it comes to dealing with "transphobes". She has lost her victimhood power and she needs to come to terms with that - she is the evil bigot now and I'm not sure I have any useful advice about how to win from that position because one can't accept that framing but it seems powerful forces are aligned against her.

As she said this my accuser snapped his fingers as if we were at a poetry reading. It was so fake and performative. He didn't care at all for what she had endured." I used to be a trans ally. Welcome to "The Fundemental CHANGE". What many are not seeing is the WHOLE picture. WHY are so many of our youth becoming Gender Confused? WHAT is behind the cause of the confusion and WHO is pushing this physical as well as psycological "Gender Confusion" that has a DIRECT impact on our ability to further reproduce MORE Western children. This is NOT about Homosexuality, as this has been a known sexual "choice" in same sex partners since the begining of time. This is about an Orchastrated ATTACK on the BIOLOGICAL functioning of the people living in Western Civilization and beyond. When you look at all the efforts being put into prohibiting the reproduction of human beings into Western Society, the entire picture becomes perfectly clear. When , without ANYONES permission, without anyones Vote, our entire food chain was replaced with Chemical saturated Genetically Modified frankenfood. Chemicals that we end up INGESTING, chemicals that run off into our water supply. These chemicals have been PROVEN to reek HAVIC in our entire bodies. They said GMO'S were the answer to WORLD HUNGER. why are children in Africa still starving/dying of malnutrition? These carefully chosen chemicals interfere with our Reproductive Systems as well as reek havic on our GastroIntestinal, Neurological and Systems. We are now seeing commercials on TV suggesting "If you have been exposed to Glyphosate, an ingredient in RoundUp, which is a KNOWN Carcinogen, you may be entitled to compensation ......" Glyphosate is a MAIN ingredient in ROUNDUP, the Chemical sprayed upon the replacment food, they are forcing us to eat. The remaining ingreduents, when combined with Glyphosate, create chemical compounds that are NOT condusive to LIFE, be it an insect, fish, birds, cattle, Domestic animals... or Humans. Another Herbicide that saturated the crops that replaced our REAL and HEALTHY "food" , contains ATRIZINE. Atrizine has been PROVEN to completely turn upside down the Reproductive System, so completely, that male frogs exposed to this chemical , start to PHYSICALLY change. They become "GENDER CONFUSED" as their hormones become totally out of sync. Eventually they loose their masculinity, upto and including the lack of scrotum/sperm production. There are videos showing male frogs attemting to have sex with other male frogs, as they can nolonger differentiate the 'female' hormone secretion of the female frogs, as it is also being secreated from the ONCE MALE frogs. These GLOBALIST Scientists ARE NOT STUPID. They KNEW this information, information they themselves witnessed in their studies. The United Nations plan for "REPLACMENT POPULATION" for the West, to "take care of" our inability/ failure to reproduce, wasn't created by chance, haphazardly. It wasn't simply the empty DESIRE to Culturally, Socially Religiously, Financially, Politically, Educationally, "Change" The West, into NWO Globalists lead, Marxist, Wahabbists. This process was a slow but sure process of cause and effect, yes. That "PROCESS" is now on steroids. If you look at the Chemicals these GMO crops are being saturated with, and include the use of the ingredients found in the MANDATED Vaccines, (Vaccines that have quadrupled in # the past 10 years) you will find toxic chemicals such as Polysorbate80, which is another name for "Tween80". Tween80, is the primary ingredient in "The Morning After" pill, designed to induce ABORTION. Lead, Mercury/Thermasol, all TOXIC heavy metals that our God Given, BloodBrain Barrier, USED to PREVENT from being able to cross over into our children's brains. Then, while they were experimenting with Parkinson meds, they discovered a chemical that could BREAKDOWN that protective Blood Brain barrier and made the CHOICE to add it to our childrens vaccinations as well as their food replacment, GMO'S, to ENSURE the TOXINS could work to their FULL capacity. Even GLOBALIST Bill Gates, said to a massive crowd, in one of his lectures, "IF WE DO A REALLY GOOD JOB WITH VACCINES, WE CAN REDUCE POPULATION GROWTH". Even the Floride, intentionally added to our drinking water, reeks HAVIC in our bodies Biological Functioning. Floride interferes with the delicate balance of Magnesium, Calcium, VitD, etc, etc, all of these are dependent on eachother. Floride completely disrputs this delcate balance.These Globalists are NOT stupid, they were/are WELL AWARE of what their onslaught of TOXIC CHEMICALS are doing to those in the Western World and beyond. All the while, Big Globalist Pharmacology, is selling us drugs to TREAT the SICKNESS, THEY themselves create. Add Globalist Eugenisist, Margeret Sanger, and her "Vision", in racial cleansing via Sterilization and ABORTION to the mix, and their vision of "Change" is nolonger a long saught out desire, but a fruitful addition, an assurity to "The Change". They evil Globalist's are even giving FALSE diagnosis to pregnant women, throughout the Western World, and encouraging them to abort their babies. These women, THOUSANDS of them, go for a second opinion, and find out, their was NOTHING wrong with their unborn child, but they were actually perfectly HEALTHY. Many Mothers and Fathers simply informed these "Doctors" they didn't care if their child would have a disabilty and REFUSED to abort.....only to give birth to ...PERFECTLY HEALTHY BABIES. As women's health provider I have been involved in many discussions regarding tubal sterilization. Federally funded insurances require an age of 21 to make that decision. Even then, it's almost impossible to find a physician willing to do this surgery for any women under 25 years old. Many will not do this under 30 years old. So it is astounding to me that radical surgeries and sterilizations can be performed on children under 18!

Cancer treatment wreaks havoc on the body, but we do it because there's no other choice; it's either that, for a chance at living a long(er) life, or it's death by cancer. You're likely to counter that a trans person will kill themselves if they don't get these elective procedures done, because that's the narrative we've been presented, but: 1) Most people who have gender dysphoria don't kill themselves. 2) Lots of people kill themselves for lots of reasons, but we don't and wouldn't recommend life-threatening surgery because they were at risk for that. 3) Suicide is homicide perpetrated upon the victim by him/herself. It is an intentional act, not the natural result of a disease. The trans medical debate is actually part of the much larger problem of the medicalization of the human experience. I fully support adults making these choices. I do not support children doing so, or medical practitioners carrying them out. I think it's a violation of medical ethics.

This discussion has to be in the mainstream. Most of the transgender ideology has thrived in privacy. Legislators need to feel the heat of their electorates, that this isn't something they are allowed to sleep walk through and sign off on because on the surface it seems fair. Quietly, quietly, whilst the western world has been preoccupied with Trump, Brexit, Macron, ISIS, the Syrian refugee crisis, the women who have been the truth tellers for years have been marginalised, bullied, no platformed, called bigots, been abused, harassed, threatened and been silenced. That is why the mainstream has been oblivious. And they need to keep it away from the mainstream, because their ideology just doesn't add up, as the panellists said. Their power over government and the medical profession, education and institutions exists because its been in a bubble with zero opposition or critical analyses. It has been confused with gay rights, civil rights, human rights. So the mainstream can also be the "cover" the panellists mentioned. Too many men are sitting back and crowing and thinking this is about bringing down the feminists. No. They have been the only line of defence thus far. This is about daughters, wives, mothers, sisters, friends. And there is definitely evidence coming in that its many conservative families that will have trans children because of homophobia and strict gender stereotypes. So there needs to be a big think from those who see themselves as traditionalists and conservatives. Any conservative family can fall prey to a daughter doing exactly what the first panellist described. Its RAPID. There is a medical infrastructure being built, waiting for the masses of trans people to start coming through. The gender clinics, the hospitals. They NEED people becoming trans. As Posie Parker, a UK woman who was a wife and mother became aware as she investigated what was happening in her surrounds, all our societal structures have already been groomed. Diversity training. The Girl Guides in the UK is starting to crack. They automatically bowed to instruction that they were to be gender inclusive. That means any man identifying as a woman can become Leaders. It means girls have to share space with boys who identify as girls. Parents were not informed of this. The first people to speak up against this have been dismissed. That's how its been working. So the right of a girl to enjoy the experience of learning and camping and socialising with other girls, free from sex, free from societal pressures, striving for merit and strength, have to sacrifice that to make a boy feel good about himself and include him. Girls who question this are considered to be bigoted and are removed. Boy wins. Girl loses. This girl Alexis... truly brave and had the guts where so many adults haven't.

Modern day feminism is a joke, an infiltrated joke. This is why those women look so stupid in 3rd wave feminism because it's put women at the bottom and allow lgbt to call the shots. The LGBT uses it as a mask so if criticized they can blame feminism when really LGBT is heavily pushing this out using their media pals, lobbying. Gay men have the most clout in that movement and you don't see any gay men protesting against it for a reason. Look at what was written in the 80s by gay male activists. "Gay Revolutionary" and "The Overhauling of Straight America" They are very good at manipulating and if you think men's rights activism and any spot for mostly men haven't been infiltrated with goals to get straight men to turn on straight women (turn on families) ...you'd be shocked.

I'm gonna have to push back on men just standing back. The current rhetoric vilifies men. You say feminists are the only line of defense. Yes, maybe true from a certain point if view. Our opinion is not valid in the public space. The world of intersectionality has taken our voice away because of "patriarchy" and "power structures". Modern feminism, that there are different branches, that are contradictory to each other is problematic. Victim culture, identitarianism has made many people loathe "feminism". But all I can do is reiterate that this is a big enough problem, what those families are going through, its no longer about what feminists are doing. This is for everyone who questions queer theory and post modernism as a basis for our societies to be framed around. And mate, we're all bigots and transphobes now and that shit only holds weight for insecure twits who live in a bubble. Sorry, I don't have an issue of feminism being captained by women only. That men play the role of ally... yeah... great... and as trans identified males have shown, men just do not know what women are talking about what it is to grow up female. And I say that not as a "feminist". But you need to do some research on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd waves of feminism. Germaine Greer... famous 2nd waver, radical feminist... currently can't show her face publicly without protest from trans and intersectional feminists. See? There is conflict within feminism over this. I don't agree with a lot of modern feminism, either... but this is bigger than that. So you either want this version of reality or you don't. And conservatives are against it, too... a lot of traditional leftist warriors are speaking out now. Especially gay men. So... if you need to be validated by someone, somewhere first to care about this issue, look around. There is an identity somewhere you should be able to relate to... even though you hate that stuff, right? Otherwise... fuck off. You sound like a whiny MRA. And don't use the word "cis". @@SeanusAurelius Yeah, Clorox Bleach is right and again, this jaundiced and unfortunately, ignorant idea of what feminism did/does was about... feminism centred the cause of women. Whether you agree with the stages of it, the methods used, whatever, its all up for grabs, obviously, I believe in free discussion, but feminism has been the same as racial civil rights... a class of people deemed to be second class. Women looked around at burgeoning democracy post enlightenment and saw they were left out in the cold. So they began the argument that they weren't second class citizens. If you have a problem with that... then, yeah, join the trans lobby because they have done the best job so far of undermining women as a class of people since the suffrage movement began. What is it? First they came for the radical feminists (aka TERFs), then women in general... and then they came for me... and tore apart biological reality. And queer theory... then you'll be thick in the argument of why no one has the right to have sex with your 8 year old child, even if they consented to sex. Ya hearing me?

I am woe to say, in the spirit of cooperation with feminists on this issue, that the very same tactics that were used to not only achieve equality in law for women -- and then went on to demand/effectuate superior rights for women over men -- is now being used against the very feminists who exploited those tactics. The equality argument that then leads to removal of rights of other classes is the same here for transgenderism vs women, is the same as it was for women's rights vs men. As any MRA can show you, men have been relegated to second class status in society and effectuated law to women, and that is exactly what the feminists here are complaining about in the ascendancy of transgendered people's claimed rights, and what they will do to women's rights when the legal class of women is extinguished by any man who self-identifies as a woman. In fact they will claim superior rights as a transgendered woman to naturally gendered women. As it was pointed out, when men can take the very same superior rights women have won in law, it will minimize, actually equalize, those superior rights women have attained.

All I can say is... they were all warned. Many times. If they are serious enough about this one issue... then I think that they need to show that they are serious enough to actually revisit their stances and positions... where they used political trickery, manipulation of the language, and coordinated activism to achieve all of the goals they personally wanted to achieve... without respect for broader consequences... some of which are affecting them now. They were told that traditional structures have a reason for their existence. They were told that the accumulated wisdom of many thousands of years... even hundreds of thousands, is somewhat beyond our comprehension and that transitory political fads are inherently dangerous experiments which have to be approached carefully and honestly. They were told in no uncertain terms that identity politics was inherently evil. Inherently dangerous. Maybe now they get it. Then again, maybe not. The left has a peculiar talent of assuming conflicting beliefs on a situational basis... telling themselves (and everyone else) whatever they need to say to get what they want. Those lesbians think it's ok that they corrupted the very notion of marriage... the mating pair of our species. They think it's ok that they got hold of a child that really belongs with its mother and father... corrupting the very notion of family. And in all of this they did not mind. Now people more radical and thoughtless than they've been have come along and corrupted the very notion of gender, and suddenly they don't like it. You're conflating a lot of disparate trends here. > Those lesbians think it's ok that they corrupted the very notion of marriage... the mating pair of our species You're right that the mating pairbond is one of the distinctive traits of our species which separates us from the rest of the primates. It's observed in all human cultures (despite what the polyamorists claim). It exists because our species gives birth to its young when it is really still a fetus, and therefore requires much more care than one parent can provide. But: That isn't what the marriage debate was about. That's an incorrect conservative conflation as well. The same-sex marriage debate was not about breeding, or cultural/religious marriage. It was about LEGAL marriage. It was about the right of an adult to designate another adult as his/her LEGAL PARTNER. -Someone who can visit them in the hospital without permission, someone who can make financial and medical decisions for them if incapacitated, someone who inherits all of their stuff if they die suddenly, someone who can file joint taxes... If you're against allowing an adult to designate whomever they want to fill that role, you are against personal freedom and liberty. No one was ever suggesting that a church could not legally refuse to carry out a same-sex wedding. No one was ever suggesting that religions had to edit their scriptures to allow homosexuality. No one was even suggesting that people couldn't roll their eyes when they heard a woman refer to another woman as her "wife." You're free to do all those things, and that was never in question. Even as an atheist, I would be resolutely against the first two hypotheticals, if they arose, and would protect your right to the last, even though I think it's rude. The easy way out of that debate, I always thought, was to rename ALL legal marriages "civil unions," since there is a fundamental difference between the cultural/religious institution of marriage, and the legal institution of the same name. > Now people more radical and thoughtless than they've been have come along and corrupted the very notion of gender, and suddenly they don't like it. Again, you're conflating. Their issue is NOT over whether people should have the right to start dressing and acting like the gender that is traditionally associated with the opposite set of genitals from what they were born with. Their issue is with ALLOWING CHILDREN TO EMBARK ON DANGEROUS MEDICAL JOURNEYS WITHOUT THEIR PARENTS' PERMISSION. Again, it's about LEGALITY. If a kid comes out as homosexual, that's actually pretty low-impact, and if it turns out to be a phase (like it is with many girls, although my fellow lefties would not like me pointing that out), they just switch teams later. All it is is behavior. However, if a kid comes out as trans, a doctor wants to step in and pump them full of hormones and cut off parts of their body. What happens if it turns out to be a phase or (what I suspect), a fad? That's the issue. If an adult wants to do that, then fine. But a kid should not have the ability to fundamentally alter his/her body without parents' permission. We do this not because we're meanies, but because humans aren't really good at conceptualizing long-term consequences until their 20s. There is plenty of cognitive science to back that up. There is also a biological/anthropological angle to this: Homosexuality (especially male) occurs in every society, just like marriage does. And there are men who act more feminine and women who act more masculine in every society, too. But this idea that up to 5 people out of every 100 are "born as the wrong gender?" No. That doesn't happen. That number is way off, and therefore can only really be accounted for by cultural differences. Furthermore, there has been VIRTUALLY NO cognitive/neuroscience support for this idea that transgender people were "born in the wrong body." Gender roles, however, DO show up in almost identical forms in all human societies, and in the womb, male and female fetuses are treated differently by the mother's body, in the number/intensity of testosterone washes. It is very clear that gender identity is NOT socially-constructed, but, rather, is biological. So how do we LEGALLY handle transgender people in a free country that values personal liberty? -The same way we have been: When you're old enough to be considered competent, you can choose to undergo dangerous hormone treatments and have parts of your body lopped off. You can change your name (although I'm not sure about legally changing gender, for health reasons-a transgender body is still the original body with some technological modifications, and EMTs/doctors need to know what hardware they're actually working with). The issue is when we start using LAW to enforce CULTURE. As a liberal, one of the main reasons I oppose a lot of conservative policy positions is that I believe they are overstepping the bounds of what the government has any right to control. The government of the US is supposed to protect freedom without taking sides. Denying people the right to choose their own legal partner because religion says that those people shouldn't be having sex is an abuse of governmental power. The religious angle is irrelevant. However, denying parents the right to make medical decisions for their kids because a social movement (that is indistinguishable from religion) believes it's wrong to question the whims of teenagers is ALSO an abuse of governmental power. I think that gender tracks almost 1:1 to biological sex, but I also believe in freedom, and if an adult feels happier presenting as the opposite gender, or no gender at all, then I will defend that right. But I can't defend doctors making irrevocable changes to developing bodies based on their personal values. Mister Fusion, since you bring up "learning a lesson" in your closing, allow me to continue the analogy: Here's your homework: Go through your ideas on what policies you support and ask yourself why. If the answer is not "it provides for more personal liberty without costing anyone else's," then it's just a personal value, and doesn't belong in law. The only way that any of us can be free is if we respect and protect the freedom of others, even if we don't like those people or their beliefs.

@@g2DN2aTYHzNsVR6o You're simply confused. Example... you think you understand the marriage debate. You do not. All you understand is the one sided conversation that gay activists forced into the courts. You're just parroting what THEY say the issue was... when in fact it was fake. False. Bogus. Making someone a "legal partner" is utter bullshit. Marriage is ********OLDER******** than LAW. What you witnessed, but simply don't comprehend, is that someone used the modern constructs of LAW to assert itself OVER THE ANCIENT REALITIES OF MARRIAGE. Marriage is NOT a legal concept (again, reference that it is much older than law). You might understand this better if you reflect on a case where the LAW proclaimed a man was deceased (as he was missing) The man eventually went before the courts to remedy this, but the courts held firm. They said "you are still dead", in effect, directly to his face. Courts can say ****ANYTHING****. But courts can not change reality. Marriage is the name we give to the mating pair of our species. Period. Then con-artists went before a court and got away with a big lie... one that you repeat here. Law can declare the skies neon green if it wants to. It's still a lie. The issue is, why would you agree to such a lie?
@g2DN2aTYHzNsVR6o5 жыл бұрын
@@RyderSpearmann I'm afraid it's you who is confused, as you're muddling up disparate concepts and treating them as a single thing. The only aspect of marriage over which a governing body has any power is the legal aspect. That is the only aspect that the legal debate was about. Again, if you want to believe there's some aspect of marriage that transcends what it is legally defined as, then that's your right. I agree that every human culture practices some form of it (serial monogamy is the norm, as it is in our culture as well, and most people settle down with some partner who doesn't change around the time that the hormones die down, as is the case in our culture as well), so we're in agreement that it is "ancient." I'd rephrase that as "biologically driven," because "ancient" doesn't imply that it's right or appropriate, only that it's old. Sacrificing children to make it rain is ancient as well, but I doubt you are in support of it. As for the "deceased" argument... Well, it's not an argument. It's an anecdote, sans citation. I fully expect that such a thing has happened, but even then... The courts are not telling him he's dead; they're telling him he's LEGALLY dead. Dead in the paperwork. If the law declared the skies green, the skies would be legally green. Yes. It would not change the color of the sky (although you've picked a very bad example, because colors themselves are a cultural construct-different language groups parse the spectrum of visible light into named colors differently; here in Japan, much of what we English speakers would consider "green" is considered "blue"-those boundaries are entirely artificial), however, for matters of legality, the sky would be understood to be green. No one denies that law is a human construct. In fact, that is precisely the point. Legal marriage is a wholly human construct, and as such, can be freely altered as desired. In our society, we value freedom and liberty, and to deny some people the right to selecting a legal partner because they can't procreate... is a violation of their liberties. The fact that you don't agree with the philosophy of same-sex marriage is wholly beside the point. The fact that same-sex couples can't naturally procreate is also beside the point. If you have a hard time differentiating between law, nature, and philosophy, you've got bigger problems than simply using too many asterisks.
@g2DN2aTYHzNsVR6o5 жыл бұрын
@libertydefined31 I definitely take your point about jurisdiction, since marriage licenses are granted by the states. It definitely was a gray area. In general, in stark contrast to most liberals, I'm in favor of states' rights. The argument was, therefore, much more about discrimination, which is handled by the federal government. But even if it were a state issue, all it takes is one state to do them, and the rest of the states would have had to honor those marriages because of the "full faith and credit" clause of the Constitution. Just as you can drive in Nebraska if you're from Colorado, you are married in South Carolina if you're married in Oregon. As for illegal immigration, I think that gets muddied up as well. 1) Immigration has been shown time and again to boost the economy. More people doing more work means more money being generated. As an American, unless you're 100% indigenous (whether that be Native American or Latin)-and no one is-you are the descendant of immigrants. And a lot of us are pretty recent, even. The British side of my family emigrated right after the Civil War, and my great-grandfather emigrated from Germany just after the turn of the 20th century, and married another recent German immigrant. The rise of the US economy was due to a massive influx of labor. This has been studied to death. Immigration, no matter whether it's legal or not, boosts the economy. But... 2) What "boosts the economy" means is always up for debate. More people = more money = bigger economy. Any study of this needs to look at real wages and see if that "boost" is shared fairly. As a left-leaner, I'm gonna promise you that it's not (Support for "open borders"-which is utter nonsense, by the way-has NOT been a traditionally left-leaning policy!). Who benefits when there's a massive influx of people who are willing to work for much less than the local population-a population expects crazy things like not sleeping 12 dudes on the floor of a one-bedroom apartment so they can Western Union most of their paycheck back home to support their wives and kids? Well, duh, it's whomever is employing them. Lower labor costs mean more profits for them. This also, I strongly suspect, exerts downward pressure on wages for workers in industries where much of the work can be carried out by people who barely even speak the local language. Where once someone could graduate high school (or not!) and get a decent-paying job in a beef plant and work long enough that they figure out that school was better than this, or that they move into management, now companies like that can essentially hire a slave class of people who will take lower pay and worse conditions because they know that if they speak up, they'll be ICE'd the night before payday. I strongly, strongly suspect that illegal immigration does boost corporate profits, and therefore appears to boost the economy, but does so at the expense of the working class. I don't consider myself a socialist (much of socialist ideology is indistinguishable from religion), but come on: That's a textbook case of proletariat vs. bourgeoisie. 3) What also gets muddled into this, though, is racism and xenophobia. It's true that a lot of "build the wall" people feel that way because they don't like brown people who speak Spanish at Walmart. People who oppose immigration on racial/ethnic grounds actually hurt the controlled-immigration cause because they are so easy to dismiss. The overwhelming majority of people sneaking over the border are not rapists or drug dealers. They're coming to do crappy manual labor because the US dollar is stronger than the peso, and they need to support people back home. They're willing to work insanely hard for relatively little because they love their families. These are good people making a desperate choice because their own countries' economies are jacked. The immigration question must be wholly divorced from questions of race/ethnicity if it is to be discussed rationally. It doesn't matter who the people are or what they look like or what they speak. The questions are simply: "Have they gone through the proper channels to immigrate to this country", "Have they secured the proper visa to work", and "Is that visa still valid?" It is not racist to insist that people respect the laws of the country they are moving to, and avail themselves of the policies and procedures set up to allow them in. Neither is it racists to expect someone who expects to live in a country permanently to speak the local language at at least an intermediate level. -And I'm saying this as a guy who has lived in Japan for most of the past 20 years. You have to do your paperwork. You have to apply. You have to be accepted. You have to report to immigration to renew your visa. And eventually, you may be able to apply for permanent residency so you don't have to keep going down to the office every year or three to renew. There are procedures and policies, and it is not racist to expect people to adhere to them. 4) Finally, The Wall (not the Pink Floyd masterpiece): The question for me is simply: "Would it be worth the money?" Would it curtail illegal immigration enough, hopefully (and I suspect this is true, but so far the research on this suggests otherwise) raising low-skilled workers' wages and therefore improving the Main Street economy, to offset the massive expenditure necessary to build the darn thing? Again, the research so far suggests that it would not. The problem, though, is that I suspect the research has likely been carried out by neo-con/neo-lib think tanks, etc., and might have been designed in such a way as to ensure that outcome. Until the anti-illegal-immigration stance can be purged of its racist xenophobia and focused on economic effects, it won't get anywhere. We're coming off of three presidential administrations (Clinton, Bush II, Obama) whose economic policy, when you strip the rhetoric, has been exactly the same (well, actually, Obama was the strictest with regard to deportations). I think the only way forward for us as a nation (and I may not live there now, but I still want a nice place to move back to some day!) is to reject the lie that we are at odds with each other. We're not. Polls of American opinion on many of the big issues of the day show that public opinion is pretty unified, even across party lines. Many of the things Trump got his support from saying are classically ECONOMICALLY LEFTIST positions. What makes me optimistic these days, though, is that I feel like people are waking up. I feel like people are starting to notice that people "on the other side" are saying the same things they are. I think that people are starting to realize that, since deregulation of the media has resulted in 5 companies controlling ALL the "news," the "news" is better understood as "oligarchs' talking points." We've been manipulated for decades at this point. The scary thing, though, is that it gets very hard to tell what to believe. Finally, as for the political correctness, remember that none of this is law. It's culture. The only real danger is that a handful of moonbats are trying to make their philosophies/cultural values into policy or law, and yes, we must fight that. But the reason we must fight that is not that they're wrong (they are, but that's not the reason), but because in America, no one has the right to wield the power of government to ENFORCE his/her own little vision of utopia. That doesn't matter if it's "evangelical Christians" (full disclosure: I'm an atheist raised evangelical, but what I was raised believing about right and wrong and how to treat my fellow children of God bears no resemblance to what I see being labeled "evangelical" now), or ivory-tower queer theorists (full disclosure: I'm a university professor in the humanities, but more on the quantitative end). We all gotta live here, and the promise of America is that the government is not going to get in your way unless you're actively, materially damaging someone. Hurt feelings are outside the scope of government; sorry. The government does not exist to provide its citizens with happiness, validation, or other warm fuzzies. It's there to provide economic and military services. The government is not God.

My partner gets angry with me when I bring up the issue of men being allowed access to women's spaces, yet when I tried to explain the issues he shuts me up saying he doesn't care. Yesterday I excluded him from a social meeting with a friend because I want to be able to express my views and discuss them without experiencing intolerance. Today he listened to me for the first time while I described part of the sheer volume of rapes, sexual assaults, harassment, bullying, stalking, groping and mysogeny I have endured and witnessed other females being subjected to. Added to that is my horror at the growing sexualisation anbd indoctrination of youngsters around an ideology they are far too young to comprehend. He had no idea that girls and boys are being placed on puberty blockers, hormones which are inappropriate for their bodies, then having sexual organs removed, or the phenomena of teenage girls being groomed online by trans ideology, leading to an explosion of the numbers of youngsters seeking "gender reassignment treatments", which are a total misnomer, and surely must be breaking the trades descriptions laws. We as tax payers are funding costly procedures which are sterilising and mutilating youngsters, and disabling them for life. This is not acceptable. Women need to be listened to for a change, and men need to listen and stand by us. If someone wants to be trans, then men who "identify as women" should be called trans men; and women who identify as men should be called "trans women". That would remove at least some of the confusion which some people appear to experience over defining what a woman is.

One thing missing from this discussion is that there are literally millions of people alive today who were prenatally exposed to high doses of artificial female hormones (estrogens and progestins), usually as part of treatment aimed at reducing the likelihood of the mother miscarrying or giving birth prematurely. From my own experiences and from talking to other people with a known or suspected history of exposure to these drugs, the male assigned children from these pregnancies often end up permanently feminized, both physically and psychologically. Doctors have been hiding the physical anomalies by reclassifying things that are actually signs intersexed development has taken place (e.g. hypospadias and undescended testicles), as "genital anomalies of unknown etiology", and usually operating on the affected children soon after birth to make them look more like ordinary males. A second effect of these drugs is that they can prevent the brain from masculinising fully (or at all), producing people who look male enough to have been assigned male at birth, but have intersexed or female brains. Unsurprisingly, these people with feminised brains often have a strong inner sense of being a woman, despite having a body with male genitals and being regarded as male by everyone around them. Hardly any of the children from pregnancies where hormones were used know they were exposed, which has helped obscure the connection, but nonetheless, the link between the earliest and best known of these drugs, diethylstilbestrol (or DES), and transgender, is something that's been talked about within the transgender community for years. A study published in 2005 found that 150 of the 500 DES "sons" participating in the study identified as women rather than men. Here's some personal stories of people who were prenatally exposed to DES: facebook.com/notes/protect-the-unborn-child-from-synthetic-hormones/a-tragic-des-intersex-story/1910413039261661/ facebook.com/notes/protect-the-unborn-child-from-synthetic-hormones/medical-incompetence-causes-gender-dysphoria/1910445085925123/ facebook.com/notes/protect-the-unborn-child-from-synthetic-hormones/des-and-the-other-half-of-it/1910852755884356/ facebook.com/notes/protect-the-unborn-child-from-synthetic-hormones/a-transsexual-biography-parts-1-and-2/1911708495798782/

" "Transtrenders are basically gender-conforming cisgender people pretending to be transgender and using different pronouns because they think it makes them special, and want to be able to say that they are oppressed by being in the transgender community because they think it makes them look cool. Transtrenders are incredibly disrespectful to real transgender people, making a mockery of what transgender people experience, invalidating the problems and hurt that real transgender people face, and turning these people's identity into a fashion trend." www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=transtrender So a small part of what you say may be true. However, just because there are may be a few bandwagon jumpers (who will grow out of it, it's no fun living in a body opposite to the sex you identify as), doesn't change the fact that there are plenty of people who are genuinely transgender. From my own experiences and from talking to other people with a known or suspected history of being prenatally exposed to doctor prescribed synthetic female hormones, I can tell you that being trans is a real phenomenon that results from the wrong hormones being present during the critical time the brain is developing, preventing the brain from masculinizing (MTFs), or causing it to become inappropriately masculinized (FTMs). Many of us have physical symptoms of intersex as well, something that gets completely glossed over by the transgender healthcare industry.

Funny, we know how society influences (Urie Bronfenbrenner's, "Ecology of Human Development"), nature vs. nurture (it is both) but we refuse to talk about the "influences" of media, liberal education, absence of or abusive parents (especially fathers), emasculation of men (presented as "toxic masculinity") and the plethora of other social influence. Add to this the hyper-sexualization of children and sexual imprinting (which includes first sexual experiences) and we think this is something that is ONLY determined by biology... even though the DNA clearly points to a child's gender. If it were "natural", we would not need all the gender reassignment surgeries, hormone replacement therapy, social readjustment and all the other things that have to happen, the presuppositions based on fallacious science are incredibly damaging to the "natural" argument.

Parents used to not let kids get tattooed until they turn 18. Now they are applauded for letting minors have elective surgery and hormone therapy with serious and permanent consequences. Adults need to act like adults until children mature to be able to make their own decisions.

@@peterblaise The method of science (propose a hypothesis and test it) aims to be free of bias, but it is never performed in an environment free of bias. I'm not aware of all the research you mentioned (and I don't have 5 years to dedicate to it), but my perspective potentially flawed as it is comes from when I hear legitimate inquiries being shut down because it supports a different view. Dr. Kenneth Zucker, who had been a leading clinician in this field had his clinic in Toronto, shutdown in 2015 because he was advocating a wait and see protocol with gender dysphoric individuals. From his experience a majority of patience grow to be comfortable with their identities as cis gender homosexuals, rather than transgender individuals. Furthermore recent research on rapid-onset gender dysphoria has been attacked and deemed "pseudo-scientific". No doubt the Littman research isn't the most rigorous study, relying on self reported surveys, but this is not uncommon for exploratory research. The backlash it received didn't seem to be focused on its scientific merits but rather a moral condemnation to signal that this was not a valid area of inquiry to follow. These moral attacks and stifling of inquiry makes it less likely that people and institutions will be willing to keep studying these difficult topics.

This is all so tragic.... One thing I wish these women would understand that they and so many others do not seem to, is that title IX and the 'Civil Rights Act', were and are evil. Two wrongs do not make a right, they exacerbate a bad situation and we are where we were destined to be when we accepted these evils as the solutions to problems, when in fact they ultimately created larger problems. As they correctly mention a few times, many people have not thought things through. Indeed. We are fighting a losing battle.... reason will not work with the enemy that we are dealing with. Look around, it hasn't yet in 100+ years, and we're on the precipice of an unprecedented societal disaster. Feminists may correctly understand the power and money they are up against. They mistakenly think that a great many men do not. That same power backed their movement not long ago, and has turned on them. Promoting women's rights has never been this power's agenda, nor is promoting 'trans rights' the goal now. The goal is confuse, divide, and conquer. The money backing these movements has never cared about the people who believe in them that are used as pawns to promote a larger agenda. There are very evil people in power pulling the strings. All that said, I applaud the attempt and it is a noble and valiant one. In the end though, so long as they hold some evils dear, they will not be able to escape the coming bigger evils. What are they? Well... a few were mentioned, but think this all through.... the erasure of women (and men!) is just part of what is coming. Until these women stop fighting for only women, their cause is lost. Women and men must stand together, and stop allowing the very evil that is threatening to erase them, to divide them, as has been the case for so many decades now.
