In this enthralling debate, Professor Tariq Ramadan and Maryam Namazie go head-to-head on the topic of Islam in Europe today.
Listed in a 2008 report called Victims of Intimidation: Freedom of Speech within Europe's Muslim Communities, Namazie has had multiple lectures no-platformed and disrupted. She is spokesperson for the Council of ex-Muslims and for Iranian Solidarity. Her writing specialises in challenging cultural relatavism and political Islam.
Professor of contemporary Islamic Studies in Oxford, Tariq Ramadan has held positions in Universities across the world, he is also persona non grata in at least six countries including Saudi Arabia and Egypt for his challenges to undemocratic regimes.
Namazie and Ramadan will be debating some of the biggest challenges facing Islam today.

@ryan4305 I completely agree but you missed the point of my argument. The issue is that the term (islamaphobia) is more often than not associated with race. Even in 2011 the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) began defining islamaphobia as a form of racism. Every Muslim association and even the Arab League state that"Islam is not a race", but Islamophobia is racism. Which doesn't make any freaking sense. It's like saying "Christianity is not a race", but Christophobia is racism.

ryan4305 Well, the issue is that it's a pretty big word to be misused, especially in modern western society. Imagine Christians using Christophobia the same way Islam is using Islamophobia. A journalist, celebrity, actor...etc.. can literately bash Christians and Christianity to their heart's content without repercussions. By acknowledging that any criticizing of Islam is considered Islamophobic (racist), you are creating a scenario where in western society, you cannot under any circumstance criticize the religion or it's actions. It's bad enough people died by drawing a cartoon of their prophet, but soon we won't even be able to state the obvious problems of Islam without being called a bigot, racist or even worse, be persecuted for our opinions. This "misused word" shouldn't even exist let alone be associated with something like racism.

In that case they allow it, although perhaps not in public. That seems very lenient to me when I think about laws regarding alcohol and drugs in the west.

@Catherine Stonestreet Your argument against the statement "you have no right to say something that kills me inside" is to tell that person to go back where they came from or to assimilate if they want to stay whatever you live. But is that really the right response? There's nothing in the statement that identifies the person as a foreigner and the statement itself doesn't strike me as really controversial. There are many examples of things we forbid each other to say, certainly in public, because it hurts people, because "it kills them inside". I should say because it kills *us* inside, though. We now say "the N word" when that word was once commonplace. And there are some things you can say that US courts have deemed "fighting words" and saying them akin to a physical assault. Who wants the right to say something so hurtful it kills someone else inside anyway? Or what could anyone have to say that is so important it requires being permitted to be so hurtful to someone else. Maybe there is something but I can't think of what it might be. I hope you reconsider the question. I think it's what you would want that other person to do regarding you and your feelings.

Have you researched how your sacred text was put together? Or by whom? I gather that of the some 600,000 writings that were gathered only about 2% were kept and the rest were burnt. This occurred long after his death. One seeking to run everything gathered the writings and he gave them to one man to go through. If Muhammad was a true prophet and the last one what were these two guys? You do not even face in the direction of the gathering place (mecca) that Muhammad went to, searched for his path, and then supposedly found it. Men who come after a person who was supposedly gifted by an entity ALWAYS mess with things. Abdul ..... Malik is the one who picked the guy who burnt 98% of writings about or by your Prophet. Then Malik created the Quran. Muhammad was long dead and neither met him. Petra is the direction the earliest mosques faced. It also fit the physical description of his mecca. Which means dressing "modestly" (a term that extends the full spectrum of burkas to just complete skin coverings like Dubai women.) So of course, now they'll be covering their wrists forever because some imaginary doctors deem them seductive. (Your guess is as good as mine. If the so-called doctors exist, they're male, Islamist perverts) I am in a medical degree and have never heard anything about wrists being seductive. It's comical at best, and simply manipulative and brainwashing at worst. That's how you become Muslim. It's consistent indoctrination from the minute you can tell a cup from a shoe and speak a few words. Plus constantly being fed the idea that kafirs/nonMuslims are lost and bad, and YOU happen to be in luck to be following the right path. A few come to their senses though, eventually. I have three ex-Muslim atheist friends, two male and about 25 years, one older, almost 30. On the other hand, I have another friend who converted to Islam in adulthood (21 years) in a seemingly Traumatic Maladaptive Response. She was in an all Catholic highschool and got massively bullied for having no religion. She wasn't Christian, neither was she atheist or agnostic because her mother simply didn't care about religion. She was into Astrology later on... Her mom was very abusive and she went to love with her Muslim dad who was very nice to her. In her head, this equated kindness with Islam, due to the cruelty of her mom. She became Islam as a result. BUT, she couldn't bear it for even 2 months because she was constantly being haggled to stop Astrology (which she really loved... I don't believe in it but I understood hoe much it meant to her. She would go to Astrology lectures and stuff to actually learn more...) They wanted her to cover up, to be subservient to her stepbrothers, to be silent while men talked... She kept telling me how miserable she was... But stuck it through until she got a job... Then left Islam. I think she wasn't prepared for what it was, and the juxtaposition between her cruel non-religious mother, against her kind Muslim father, fuelled by Christian bullying made her equate Islam with kindness... Only to realise it was just a maladaptive response and kindness can be found in many places that don't come with all these repressivez unnecessary strings attached. My two pence!😂

I am not denying that fact. I was implying that Christians tend to be bullied and oppressed in Islamic countries and often have no protection at all, both physical and legal. In some countries they are not even allowed to be Christian. Can you say the same the other way around?

We in Europe do not except radicalised mentality of many who follow Islam ,millions have decided to come to Europe rather than on fifty Muslims countries ,many of us are alarmed by this religion ,we have been christian countries for more than five hundred years ,and migrates must understand when they come to our or other Christian countries they must understand ,they come here and must adhere to our culture and beliefs not the other way round .

Nations which were conquered by other Islamic nations or nations with a very high percentage of Muslim people know, that when the muslim Population have a certain percentage , the rest will have to change for their requirements. Look at nations like Nigeria, Ethiopia,… when Muslims have a certain they try to form the country into a religious one and are not liberal for other religions. I am talking about the religious and political Islam. There are of course many normal, not so religious Muslims which suffer also from their brothers in faith.
