You know how Gordon was so complimentary of her cakes? Yeah, it turns out that Amy was buying in the cakes from a local bakery. She didn’t even make them. If she was a baker, she would be a better chef than what she is. I understand that baking and cooking aren’t the same, but her skill level in the kitchen is not the skill level of someone making cakes that look that good and taste that good.

I think people usually compare food that they eat in restaurants to the quality of which they can make themselves in their own home. If something is worse than they can actually make by hand, I'd say that it's by itself pretty bad. People don't need a chef's pallete to discern bad from good.
