I terms of timeline the book ends in current 40k. Since in the Fall of Cadia book, Trazyn mentions he left Orikan buried on the planet. So the finale is post fall of Cadia

I really like how the Genestealers where set up. Starts as a prank, and Okiram cuts off the Stealer's arm and subtly the story of the Trickster King appears in the planet. It evolves and evolves until you get to the point where you get Hybrids that are hypnotic to watch, and then Boom. Genestealer Uprising. Super cool

1:08:29 my favorite enemy scene is Trazyn vs the naval Gargant. 1: it has Trazyn leading the charge, which is a first for him. 2: a mech boy tries to warn the pilots of the Gargant but one of the guide wires literally cut him in half 3: Trazyn uses the orks blind fury against the orks, causing them to tip their own boat

This book was such a revelation to me. I would never have thought that necron, of all creatures, would be so deeply and heartbreakingly concerned about the harm to nature and culture (which are the same thing). Trazin is an OC that I've always dreamed of creating, but lacked the skill. He is ideal, seriously interested in preserving and cataloging history and biology, at the same time he is ready and does not hesitate to drag away everything that is not nailed to the floor (and what is nailed will drag away with the floor). The greatest loot rat.

I finally got the time to watch this and it was a really fun discussion! I've been enjoying your videos and learning a lot about the Primarchs since my own 40K knowledge pretty much only extended to Necrons at first, and I was excited to see y'all talk about this book. It's the first Warhammer book I read and how I got interested in the lore. Also, if you want to know more about that inquisitor that y'all mentioned who has the tesseract labyrinth, Inquisitor Valeria, I strongly recommend reading a short story called 'Mindshackle' which is also by Robert Rath. She's honestly one of my favorite 40K characters despite only being in some codex lore and one short story hdsgjhg

My favorite part of the book is when Trazyn finally gets fed up with Orikan, goes to him as a Deathmark and shoots him in the face. When Orikan says he does not have the Mystero, Trazyn says I don't care and you can keep it.

In fairness to humanity: they wouldn’t be in this situation if their robots didn’t rebel, exponential rise in psykers appearing and FTL travel having become impossible for few thousands years, followed by a rebellion that devastated the imperium when it was relative enlightened causing it to back pedal hard. Now the first three are out right eldars fault, including the rebellion of the men of iron if certain theories are true. The last point they had a hand in when some of them and some others decided they could make humanity self destruct and starve chaos. Aka use humanity as a sacrificial lamb to fix a problem they let fester/caused, depending on how you look at it. I am not excusing humanity’s failures, but eldar and necrons are not faultless in all of this.

If we got an I&D sequel they would almost certainly be fighting each other because of the necron civil war going on in current lore between the Sautekh dynasty (Orikan’s dynasty) versus the Szarekhan and Nihilakh dynasties (the silent king and Trazyns dynasties)

Great episode 👍 I love that book. I tried 40k novels a few years back and didn‘t like them much. I bought the audiobook because of all the positive buzz around it and fell in love instantly. Since then I found a lot of other 40k books, that I enjoy and I wouldn’t have without The Infinite And The Divine 👍

Trazyn and Orikan aren't gay, ftr. They're rivaling eggheads who learn to work with each other when the council caught their crimes. Right before the epilogue, Orikan was trying to keep Trazyn from awakening the source of Solemnace, more out of necessity than compassion. The real gay Necron couple is Obyron and Nemesor Zahndrekh

Personally I prefer Oriken. Trazyn is fun but he has some moments that I disagree with a lot. Trazyn has no loyalty and can be downright cruel. Him "pranking" and later beating a broken Oriken were big minus points for Trazyn. Even his humane scene with his human servant is pretty f'ed up.
