'The infrastructure is old' - Mahlobo on Gauteng's water woes

Deputy Water and Sanitation Minister David Mahlobo conducted a site inspection at the Lesotho Highlands Water Project in the Free State on Friday. The department, alongside its Lesotho counterpart, is conducting a mega maintenance project at the tunnel. The system transports over 780 million cubic litres of water from Lesotho to several provinces in the country. Mahlobo commented on the maintenance project and Gauteng's current issues.

The system was not old and operating correctly 30 years ago. The problem is that there has been no management for the last 30 years.
