Hi! I'm one of developers of The Inn-Sanity! I'm so happy to see our game on your channel! Some comments guessed that our game was inspired by the web comic Sweet Home. You are absolutely right! My colleague is a big fan of it and he asked us to look into it for inspiration. We tried to tell an original story but we kept few memorable elements to pay an homage to the comic. If you liked our game - read Sweet Home!

I think it's because people have been much more creative and it hasn't been the same 3 ideas rotated like when every game was set in a lighthouse, or involved a pig mask killer, or had to do with camping etc people have actually grown into their own ideas instead of just copying what's popular at the moment.

This is a very good adaptation of Sweet Home, lol. Almost down to a T. People suddenly getting nosebleeds and nightmares and turning into monsters? Check. Monsters based on their problems? Check. Giant monster based on muscle envy? Check. Even has a guy who helps from afar who is stuck in a wheelchair. And a parking garage scene too.

I am genuinely impressed. I have to admit, I wasn't super blown away by this dev's other games, they were 'fine' but nothing standout to me I guess. But this is a real treat, a smorgasboard of cool ideas, concepts, themes and style. This one 'definitely' stands out. My take on your ending was that you effectively sacrificed your body to science, and they used you for experiments to produce a vaccine and save what was left of humanity. I feel like if you didn't tell them you were 'infected' you and Robin might've lived happily, but the human race would've become extinct because nobody else resisted the eldritch horror the way you did. So you got the 'big picture' good ending, maybe, but not the personal happy ending.
@melliethemorticianАй бұрын
Yes! The only other game of theirs I liked was 'Mists of Aiden' everything else kind of fell short. This game was much different, it seems they had more time to work on the project and flesh it out giving them a much better game.

Unfortunately, you'll have to send your praise elsewhere lol. Most of those ideas, concepts, themes, character archetypes/motivations, and plot points are almost directly taken from a webtoon. The visual style of this game is somewhat original though (beyond the hypnotic supernatural inner-reflection stuff, that's taken too), albeit stemming from a lot of bought assets.

Really glad to be seeing how many people in the comments are appreciating long videos these days. Sure, it mostly depends on how likable the host happens to be, but still - wasn't always like this. Back when I started Let's Playing, it was still all about short content. Everyone would complain about longer videos and demand that content creators keep it on the short side. When I started recording videos that would last around 40 minutes to an hour, plenty of people still got upset. But now, everyone seems to have adjusted to the format, more or less.
@-.Mitzuki.-Ай бұрын
Ngl probably because a lot of us watching are falling asleep to longer videos- not that it's boring, it's just... Soothing?😂

@goopahАй бұрын
It seems to be extremes these days. People either want tiny tiktok videos or long essays. I'll watch anything pretty much, depending on how much time I have. I try to make a lot of time for myself these days rather than constantly being in the rat race, so I enjoy a nice relaxing longer video like this one from time to time. If they are well done, and I have the time, long videos are my preferred thing to watch. Takes me away from the 'real world,' which has gotten to be crazy hectic and brutal on the soul lately.

I'm 30 minutes in and the white lady and the nose bleed option made me think of Sweet Home
@amandaoliver7743Ай бұрын
About 2/3 through but from the jump, when he placed the razor on the sink, he said something like "good enough to get the job done", then, thoughts of no future, allusions to "why" he came to the hotel. Everything's told me he came to end his life. As for the dream sequences, one of the first convos with the white lady, plus some of the notes reference dreams and water. Water giving good dreams, while early on the anti-government man or radio had mentioned the infection might be in the water. Plus the pool was mentioned as a new renovation, I believe. Water can symbolize so many different things based on context but with knowing he's newly 18, aging out of foster care, facing the world on his own, and I vaguely remember one point referencing not knowing or losing his mother very young I think, it's definitely alluding to his emotional state. Being overwhelmed by change and unable to handle it all. A sense of drowning in emotional turmoil in his waking life. BUT dreaming of being submerged is also supposed to be a subconscious connection to being in the womb, a place of safety and comfort, before pressures of life and responsibility, while still in the care of your mother. I'm really curious and excited to see how this all ties together in the next hour or so. Also, The monsters transformations based on their personality traits and how some freely give in and others can resist more are giving major Sweet Home vibes.
@mcr00kesАй бұрын
This was superbly done. It introduced me to a real condition I was not aware about, nor can currently comprehend (but will do), the characters were great and relateable, and the horror influences this game has (Sweet Home, Silent Hill - nice 302 namecheck, Cosmic horror of something that was almost alone and wanted companionship, yet destroyed many lives as a result) were so well implimented. What an amazing ride!

@MrStatistxАй бұрын
I mean it's already a pretty good game, but i wish there was more interactible stuff, like not just 1 item you are supposed to pick up. I can also imagine an "open" world survival, but with a very limited world, like ... a hotel. You don't build a wooden house that you upgrade into a stone house, but instead you barricade your room, later the floor and expand like that and instead of gathering berries or hunting animals, you plunder vending machines, salvage in rooms and maybe later find a way to have a steady connection to the restaurant which can send you food. Damn, now I want a game like that
@Scriptor13Ай бұрын

Thank you for posting this. I'm not a big fan of horror movies much less horror games but I actually watched this video from start to finish. I liked this video for several reasons. 1) Unlike other playthroughs, you didn't feel the need to show a video of yourself in the corner playing the game. This made the game playthrough feel more like a movie. 2) Unlike a movie, this playthrough included your first person narration which included your think-outloud thought processes that you used while making decisions. Other game playthroughs have not included any narration which didn't offset the fear factor on my part as a viewer. Listening to you speak no matter what horrific event was occuring felt oddly reassuring. 3) I have prosopagnosia and while I don't see people with blurred out faces, I do see them as looking pretty much alike assuming they are of a similar age, gender, skin color, and physical physique. I have never before seen a movie or a game playthrough that features a protagonist with this neurological disorder.

Chris, that was bloody awesome! I've never seen a game with so much STORY in it. I mean sure, we have Max Paine and Silent Hill, but nothing like this. Huge bravos to the devs!!
