This is an excellent book. However, it covers an expansive period of time and many innovations and innovators. As mentioned, it leaves out many technologies and contributors to some of the technology. I did not interpret this book to be a complete history, but more, highlights of many innovations and the significant collaborations that brought them about.

"Who owns the internet". To answer a SIMPLE question; The government and big tech own the internet. The internet; like GPS; was 'purpose designed' to create affective communication methods in order to form an information or data network. GPS was designed to monitor demographics. Both (although 2 of the most expensive infrastructures ever created) were made available free. When something is made available 'free' the price is freedoms.

That's not at all what GPS was made for

So many things wrong with this comment I don't even know where to start. You're not obliged to "answer questions," if you don't know, don't just pretend to know.
