I don’t want to hear anyone talk about how they don’t need a big physical meeting because of the nature of the two of them. Solas kissed her DESPERATELY in DAI. This is the woman he had to leave behind because he knew he’d give it all up for her. The kiss was cheap for a 10 year wait. She literally tried to chase him in her dreams and change his heart. Like yay happy over this but I’m not fully fed.

If they didn't have a budget on the animations, they could have at least record some lines of dialogue they could play after the fade to black scene. There's just not enough to prove that Solas is willing to do something for Lavellan. For the whole this game and the past one it is her chasing him, and sacrificing things to just be with him, and his response is so lukewarm... Especially now that we know his greatest love was Mythal, and all of the greatest things he has done was for her. Considering they knew each other and loved each other for centuries, I understand why, but just throw us something to show he genuinely wants to be with Lavellan, damn. I understand that Solas retreated to the Fade for eternity, to walk that path - he promises to start atonement with soothing the anger of the Titans, and as such reduce blight. Lavellan going with him probably means she will be joining him on that mission, but that means he will have so much to teach her. I mean, he is still immortal, but Lavellan is a mortal. But she also asks him to allow her to walk this path - "bellanaris" - which in the game was translated "always", but in the codex it means "forever" or "eternity". Would she become immortal on this path with him, if he would tie her lifeforce to the Veil, him, I don't know? It's not clear. It's crazy that she is giving up her whole life and devoting herself to the path of his atonement, for such a lukewarm response.

@@BBS-dl1lt I'm not a writer :p And while yes, you are right in a way, at the end of the Trespasser it always felt like dealing with Solas was Inquisitor's duty - whether they swear to stop him - "If I live, I'm coming for you." or save him - "You don't have to destroy the world. I'll prove it to you.". Inquisitor knew and travelled with Solas for a year and a half after all, dealing with Solas felt like conclusion to *their* story.

I'm guessing you haven't played the trespasser dlc. The arm is a prosthesis since Solas magic'ed away the arm with the rift mark to save her life at the end of trespasser. This scene is the Inquisitor meeting Solas again 8 years after the events in trespasser. if you romanced Solas in inquisition and vowed to redeem him in trespasser, this is the conclusion.

I don't know about you guys, but none of the answers given until now satisfies me in terms of progression of everything we've been trough since Origins. This was supposed to be THE game of DA, at least for me, because they are already revealing the gods of this world. I am extremely disappointed that they decided to give this franchise to people that don't even care about DA, it's ridiculous how these companies are disconnected from the consumers - why it is so hard for them to find some balance, why does it always have to be a fight between quality and money? See this would've made more sense if the Inquisitor had been slightly more involved. U get more explanation on their relation to Solas and it tugs at your heart strings cuz we got used to having them around. The new players they were trying to attract have no idea what just happened or why, ESPECIALLY when you don't translate their Elvhenan!!! Instead of having them show up twice and in casual clothes, have the Inky help coordinate/ command the final battle like a frontline strategist. It sidelines them without making them completely irrelevant. It also makes sense for their character who has experience in commanding large armies. Also allows for advice as they take over the mentor role after Varric so it stings more when they leave with Solas. Ameridan's Inquisitor armor was also the perfect macguffin since his armor is universal to all classes. So it would've made sense for the Inky to wear that armor despite not being able to pick their class in CC. It was also distinct enough for the Inky to stand out without overshadowing Rook.

I think it is in character for Solas, unfortunately. Remember how he burned the mages in a fit of rage after his spirit-friend in the Inquisition died? Or how he killed his old friend and agent Fellasan at the end of the Masked Empire for seeing people of the modern world as people? At the end of the Trespasser he says to romanced Lavellan "I would not have you see what I become." Here he disarmed Varric first, but after he saw Varric tricked him, and Rook destroyed the ritual years in planning, where Solas is hardened and tired, and then on top of that Varric jumping at him and attacking him to take the dagger that fact that he stabbed him in a fit of rage makes complete sense to me. And you can see he instantly regrets it.

And at the end, he is willing to walk away without looking at her, without properly apologizing, without any closure, without saying goodbye, and it is her having to chase him and abandon all her life and friends in a span of seconds, where he hurt her in so many ways. Like she does all the chasing, and he does not show any real want, or any real love, or any real sacrifice to Lavellan. She chases him, she pulls him into kiss, she sacrifices everything, Oh right, he wrote her one letter.

Well, if you are watching the spoilers, let me - Solas kills Varric at the beginning of the game, and then uses blood magic to manipulate Rook into thinking he is still alive. Lavellan doesn't even acknowledge what Solas has done to their dear friend. Solas doesn't even properly apologizes or shows regret for that. Nor does he really shows that he is willing to do something or anything for Lavellan. It is her chasing him and sacrificing everything. And Varric has no means to be taken aback by this whole thing.

I don't agree. While the idea is decent, the execution is poor, and just constantly shows Lavellan sacrificing everything for him, and chasing him. It would be nice for a change to see him showing some interest and the "love" he claims to have for her.

It has been 8 years since he betrayed her, has been lying to her, she lost her hand, he killed Varric, and she has been chasing him over all these past years trying to save him, worrying about him trying to end the world. In both conversations she has with Rook she mentions Solas lovingly and stumbles on her words trying to express her feelings and is unsure of him. While Solas mention her in the whole game once, though I don't know what he says - I know that on unromanced path all he says about Inky that "They were useful.". So in a whole game all we have is a letter. After 8 years of her enduring suffering it is not enough for him to just start walking to the Fade without saying anything to her, or a goodbye, or a closure - he doesn't even look at her, he just starts walking, and it is Lavellan chasing after him. Again. After everything. She is sacrificing her whole life and leaving all her friends and loved ones, for him to barely acknowledge it. It's just not enough when we are looking at their whole story. Compare it to their last meeting in Trespasser where he kneels in front of her, and is devastated because she accepts him and he has to leave her.

If I was solas, I would essentially think I'm not worthy of her love and would have gone on to spare her from the fade. There also was dialouge before that's different from the non romanced version. Regardless of the games flaws, I’m quite happy with the story and gameplay. Though there are some things I’m disappointed with, such as no mention of Hawke or the Hero of Ferelden. But I’m happy the Inquisitor appears in this and they get a happy ending with Solas if he and her are together. My main reason for buying this game is because I wanted to see if Solas can be redeemed and it makes happy that he can and seeing this gives me the motivation to keep playing it.

I don't know it exactly, but from the little I know it goes something like: Lavellan: You don't have to go alone. Solas: We may be going to nothing [our ends]? Lavellan: Not an end. We journey [something about hope, together] for eternity. Her last word means "forever". Basically, he is saying he wants to protect her by not taking her with. They could be going to their end. She reassures him its not the end, and that she will be by his side for eternity. That is my rough attempt at translating.

Luckily for you I can actually speak Dalish thanks to Project Elvhen. It's not gonna be word for word cause then elves would sound like 4 year olds. but it'll be better than the "in game translation" Come on Bioware, it's bad when your fan base knows the damn language better than you do. When Mythal Frees Solas from servitude the inquisitor kneels at his feet and says: Inquisitor: Banal nadas ar lath'ma vehn'an (This is echoing what he said to her in inquisition, at least the last part is.) The game translates it to "There is no fate but the love we share" (No clue where they got this cause it's only vaguely close) What it ACTUALLY translates closer to is "Nothing is certain. I love you, my heart." If they wanted to mention fate then they SHOULD have said something more like " Ghilanas tel nadas ar lath'ma vehn'an" Lit: "Fate is uncertain. I love you, my heart." Anyway, next part. when she tells Solas he doesn't have to go alone he says: Solas: "Ar ghilas vir banal." The game translates this to "Where I am going is terrible." Lit translated it's closer to "The path I'm following goes to nothingness, destruction, emptiness, void, abyss, darkness, take your pick of any of these words. If they wanted to say it is "terrible" then they could have used "telamaan" which is lit "horrible" or "telam'ala" lit "worst" so "Ar ghilas telamaan" Lit : "Where I go is horrible" Inquisitor: "Tel banal ara'ma vir shiral ma'lasa belanaras" The game translates her response as "It won't be terrible if you're with me. We make this journey together, always." Which isn't bad, but the prefix "ara" is "Mine" possessive and the word "ma" is "you" she's essentially telling him "you are mine" A BETTER word to use would have been "saron" as it means "together as one" so "Tel banal saron vir shiral ma'lasa belanaras" would be the more ROMANTIC way to say she wanted to go with him. "shiral" is a lifelong, important, journey or adventure vs "vas" which is a brief journey. "ghilas" is "to go" such as: on a path, but "dara" is "to go" as in : to go through or pierce something; and "ghi'las" is "you guide" because "ghi'lan" is the word for "a guide" so at the end of trespasser when the inquisitor originally asks to go with Solas she tells him "Ma ghi'lana vehn'an" She literally tells him "you Guide me, my heart" "Vir" is "a path but can also mean a journey in the metaphysical sense" thus why "vir" and "vas" are similar but in this case "vir" is being used in the metaphysical sense and that's why you see "vir shiral" side by side because if you translated that to english it would LIT be journey journey or path lifelong adventure which neither one makes sense so in the inquisitor's sentence vir is being used to emphasize that their journey is just as much a physical one as it is a metaphysical one. and "ma'lasa" is actually "you grant" so here she is asking him to grant her permission to go with him because the "me" is implied by the earlier use of either the words "ara'ma" or "saron" So a more Literal translation is actually more like: "Not nothingness if we are together as one. Allow me to journey this path with you, forever." TLDR; Game translation: Inquisitor: "There is no fate but the love we share" Solas: Where I am going is terrible. Inquisitor: It won't be terrible if you're with me. We make this journey together, always." Actual translation: Inquisitor: Nothing is inevitable. I love you, my heart. Solas: The path I'm following leads to nothing. Inquisitor: Not nothing if we are together. Allow me to take this journey with you, forever.

And there also Solas’ unsent letter to Lavellan. Actually, solavellan content in this game is much better than I thought.

Inquisitor's decision has no impact on the ending, only on conversations with Rook. If Lavellan romanced Solas, she expresses this in her conversation with Rook, but it is Rook's decision that choses if she will go with him, or will give up on him. Solas mentions Inquisitor to Rook in the whole game once, and says that they was useful - though I'm not sure if he says something different on romance.
