Met up with Erdem from Junique Design in Istanbul for an initial exploration of Turkey’s car culture. In this first episode I spend some time at his shop checking out some of his builds as well as customer cars he’s created.

Really respect Erdem's work to bring legitimate products and tuning culture into Turkey. I've lived in Turkey for the last 3 years and can say people really love their cars here however, the majority of modified cars are only done on a superficial level. The engines are left stock and the they seem to love making the exhausts as loud as possible without going any faster. Turks love Tofaş more than you can imagine and in more rural parts you see them everywhere in all kinds of states. Erdem's mentality and shop are awesome! Good luck to him 😄

Very cool guy and very cool shop. I only know tuner culture in Tukey from getting overtaken by a Tofas Sahin going 300 on the bumpy Turkish highway while barely holding together. Oh and superstanced civics.

for any rotary guys that are gonna be pissed at the 2jz FC, Turkish Mazda services themselves were swapping 626/323 engines in FCs at the time becouse 13B was hard to maintain and owners were keep blowing the rotary engines up, rotary engines themselves are very VERY Rare in Turkey apart from RX-8s and there are like only 3-4 RX7s with rotary engines

came to say this, erdem says they swapped the engine for more power which is technically not a lie but he should have said that he didnt get it with 13B anyway, it was already swapped a mazda 4 banger by the dealer :D
