The INSANE Endings of Marvel vs Capcom

Marvel vs Capcom is a series I love, but I'm bad at fighting games so I've rarely ever beaten it. For the first time I get to see what insane shit Capcom was cookin up in the late 90's for the arcade endings for each game in the Marvel vs Capcom franchise. X-Men: Children of the Atom, Marvel Super Heroes, X-Men vs Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter, Marvel vs Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, Marvel vs Capcom 2 (not actually cus that one doesn't have any endings), Marvel vs Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds (and Ultimate ofc), and Marvel vs Capcom Infinite (kinda). It's a journey of a lot of laughs, a lot feminism, and a lot of editing. Enjoy!

Btw Shadow Lady IS Chun Li who was transformed by Bison. Also Sakura's whole deal from the beginning is that she is an admirer of Ryu and has a never-ending crush on him 😊 the ending might imply that she and Ryu had a kid together

*Spiral isn't strictly the media person herself. She is just a flunky for Mojo, who is an intergalactic TV producer, basically. *Thor had been turned to stone by Thanos. He can be seen in the background in Thanos' stage and can be seen being de-stoned upon his defeat. *Chun Li being hit on by Beast Iceman and Archangel is a reference to X-Men #1 where all 3 plus Cyclops hit on Jean the moment she arrived as The School. They even put Cyclops in the back to reference it but you know he's got his girl he can't join in this time. *Akuma is supposed to be like 200 years old. It's TECHNICALLY possible he would know something about Wolverine's past. *Charlie doesn't die, he gets transformed into the evil Shadow, a shady cyborg. Of note, Charlie kinda died in every ending he had because he had to. He IS the (thought) dead friend Guile is avenging so every appearance in the Alpha games is meant to explain how he died because he's supposed to be dead in the future. Of course in Street Fighter 5 they reveal he was not dead and had just been turned into a cyborg...but like a different, less interesting one. (it seems this was all mostly covered in the video. I'm doing these in real time you know?) *Re: Spider-Man's Baby. I think they lost it, but then there was a what if that was like "What If Mary Jane didn't Have a Miscarriage" and in that comic the baby grew up to be Spider-Girl. And then they made a series of comics set in Earth No Miscarriage (It wasn't called that it was called MC2). It was kinda good. Dan's MSH vs SF ending: Dan is supposed to be a parody of Robert from Art of Fighting and overall parody of rival fighting game company SNK. This ending is a nod to an ending to one of them games where the same scene plays out but with their characters. Dan's sister here wasn't even a real character normally they just made her up for this bit. Re: All the GRIEF in MvC: The Onslaught Saga in the comics involved a villain so powerful and evil he killed a bunch of heroes for totally real and not for fake, so I guess that probably bled over into the game. Hey, at least they didn't send Captain Commando into The Rob Liefeld Dimension. That's right the horrible memeable Big Chest Cap you've seen? That happened after this, as a RESULT to this! Re: Venom ending. The Venom ending changes who Venom is talking to depending on who your second character was. The character changes their sprite to their time over sprite to show dismay at Venom's cringe idea of eating brains, but Ryu's Time over Pose is pretty subdued so it's harder to make out that that's the joke.. Shadow Lady can't save Chun Li. They're not two different people. Shadow Lady is just Chun Li Cybernised. Re: Zangief MVC ending: The Robot is Bloodia from Cyberbots(and Armored Warriors but we dont need to talk about that.), the mech canonically assigned to Jin Saotome. You can see his fist show up onscreen i f you play as Jin, and even have a look in his cockpit in one of the Supers. I'm gonna be honest I don't know what it's doing here fighting Zangief. Onslaught is hard enough to beat without picking a grappler. Anyway good video.

Morrigan in Darkstalkers canon is a special type of succubus. She doesn’t typically kill people and steal souls. Her main ways of feeding are through eating dreams which causes no harm and by secreting a liquid that keeps her alive as long as she’s mentally or physically stimulated, which is why she likes to explore the human world to have fun and fight (so yeah she can literally die of boredom). There are a few exceptions to this such as when she consumed Pyron in her Darkstalkers 1 ending and how some of her victory quotes have her say she’ll give her kiss of death to whoever she’s fighting (a kiss from her or having sex with her automatically results in death) but we’re not sure what’s her moral selections with eating souls. It’s possible she only does so to other Darkstalkers who are actively hostile to her and did it to Pyron because of the threat he posed to Earth. Overall, canonically she is more of a thrill seeker and doesn’t usually feed on souls. Apart from some win quotes, she’s never stated in any lore source to be having sex with people and killing them, just feeding on dreams and finding stuff to kill her boredom. She just speaks in a lot of inuendos.

Dan's MSH vs SF ending rules. It's a parody of Ryo's Art of Fighting ending, where Yuri exclaims that Mr. Karate is their father, but the scene cuts off early as cheap sequel bait. It's a hilarious non sequitur here because this is never followed up on, and that girl was invented specifically for this scene as Dan's sister. It's even funnier realizing that Dan's entire gimmick is getting revenge for his dad, and him not recognizing who is supposedly the reason he fights.

I hate when strong characters are made seem weak in general, especially if it was done to set up a new character/threat. One of the biggest examples I would give would be Galactus, who essentially became a power scaler for other Marvel characters rather than being his own thing at this point.

Imma be honest with you big dog, your severe lack of knowledge of both Marvel AND especialy Capcom (and the wider FGC) is holding you back from appreciating some of these endings as they are FILLED with easter eggs and references. 1-Dan's ending is a spoof of Art of Fighting's Ryo 2-The Zangief ending doesn't feature a "Random robot" that's Bloodia from Cyberbots... Jin's robot 3-Chun-li's ending in XvsSF is an ironic twist on her motivation to find a cute boyfriend as she is now surrounded by creeps (its unfunny, but it isn't rooted in some shadow sexism) 4-Sakura's ending implies that the kid is her's and Ryu's... Sakura's main motivation as a character is her relationship with Ryu, again you can inject any feminism ramble here... but it is a wink-wink-nudge-nudge moment for Sakura fans there are plenty more things I could point out but at this point you get the jist. also "Akuma is just Ryu but Evil" seriously?

Venom IS a good guy. Sorta. His heart is in the right place but his methods are morbid, he just really despises Spider-Man but he is also perfectly fine with teaming up with Spidey when a bigger threat arrives. Plus in the ps1 game, Spidey and Venom become friends! Also his ending depends on the other character you have in your team. If you beat Onslaught with Venom and the other character is, idk, Megaman, he will do his speech in front of Megaman. Same with Spidey, he takes a pic with the other chosen character

In the case of Marvel vs Capcom 1, Shadow/Charlie is a secret assist character in the game. Sentinel is also a secret assist character. With Spider-Man's & Venom's endings, they're different depending on your partner character. Of course, the only difference is the cool poses or funny reaction poses for Spidey or Venom.

The reason why Ryu doesn't say anything In Venom's ending Is because In Venom's ending, he becomes partners with the second character the player chose. So it could be anyone there. iirc, Spider-Man has a special animation that plays when Venom mentions he'll eat villains' skulls. Edit: Same thing with Spider-Man's ending

Sprial is the Producer For Mojo. Mojo runs a world where everything is on TV and everything is reserved from the normal world. Like in X-Men 2 for Sega Gen. you need to press the RESET button at one point within a time limit to control the game. and there so no dialog that tells you to press reset.. you just have to take a guess.

Okay so I was looking if someone told you who that robot was from Zangief ending, but nobody is bringing it up, so here I come. The robot is the one Jin pilots, as he is from a fighting game, but you don't technically use Jin, you use a robot. In fact, while that robot, Bloodria I think is called or something similar, is his default robot, you can use other robots models, including a Mecha Akuma robot. So they didn't make up that robot, but I really don't know why is he bent on destroying the damn thing to the point of becoming Mecha-Zangief.

1:00:54 Hulk's ending is actually based off the ending of the Onslaught Arc from the comics of the time, which led directly into the Heroes Reborn Arc. That, to me, makes Hulk's Ending the canon ending of the game. And yes, Heroes Reborn is EXACTLY where THAT piece of Captain America art comes from. You know the one.

The dialogue in Wolverines X-men vs SF ending is definitely pretty bad, but Logan telling one of his many mentee's about a man he considers to be better than himself is absolutely in character. In multiple era's of X-men comics he is an amazing mentor defined by his belief that he does not deserve to be a mentor. He doesnt deserve the happiness others do. And Ryu in a lot of ways is kind of the man Wolverine always wanted to be but doesnt think he deserves to be.
