@@torzhentorzhen344 I completely understand your point, I’ll even add to it, why would someone hit it, considering it is so farther back into to board; because it’s practically useless in a pinch in the late and middle game my friend, you’re a turn away from it being useful, and it’s highest utility in the late and middle game is a fortify off it, to prepare your next turn, that said, no good player ever opens this cap, because on a board deploying a ridiculous amount of troops it’s like 90 something a turn if you hold it, ( a cap in a plus 2 ultimately is not only small fucking potatoes, and your fighting over 2 Pennies out of a dollar, hence the noob corner, I think of it as two bums fighting over a penny lol)

@@torzhentorzhen344 a cap that is hard to hit is also hard to use. all that cap really does is get you +4 troops per turn (+2 for having the cap and +2 for holding iceland). You'd be crazy to take +4 troops per turn but you don't get to play with a cap. That's essentially what an iceland cap is.

@@torzhentorzhen344 I feel like a lot of people think this way and Pete has never properly explained why doing this is bad. The cap doesn't just generate 2 extra troops, it also gives you a +1 defense die. This makes the most ideal place for a cap in the early game to be a defensive border, somewhere where you'd ideally already be stacking troops. In the early game this gives you an advantage in holding territory, which is especially useful in fixed. This also makes cap stacking extra efficient, so when you reach the late game, you can attack of your stacked cap. If you put your cap in a corner, you are only utilizing one of the two benefits it provides, and you're also less likely to cap stack, which also makes you easier to kill.

spoiler alert: Yellow probably knows what they're doing. identifying good player (or players with a very lucky spawn / good early game is quite important for mid-range players. I'm playing in expert tier (level 16 at the moment, so still pretty new to risk online, but in no way not new to strategy games, psychology and risk in itself) And in order to climb, i do not have to get first. getting second to a good player is still enough, so I tend to try and identify good players, whom I like to enable as well and take second to them, even gifting the the win in a situation where I might win with perfect play, but knowing my play isn't perfect, I'd rather end the game quickly to simply start the next. I'm also not terribly concerned about my rank, as I play this game for fun, probably I'm never going to reach GM, so I'd much rather use that time on my other games or skills (knowing full well that reaching GM in chess would be an evern more outlandish goal) //edit: yeah, it's obvious that Yellow was the second best player, and probably he knew he was, so he played for second, obviously.

Just wanted to say that I actually enjoyed the after-game question and analysis of your classic game (starting around the 38-minute mark) even more than the actual European Advanced Fixed Capitals game. Seeing you go through bit by bit with the visual analysis from that video really brings home the lesson, especially since that game was a progressive card game with bot(s) from the get-go. I just played a game on the new meta settings.. and then I reverted to classic fixed, but I forgot to change the dice back to balanced blitz... I first spotted this when one of my opponents lost an 8 v 2 🤣 ... but actually it ended up being a quite fun setting. I am pretty sure everyone was like... WTF?! for the first few turns. IMO it made the game a bit faster, and the less aggressive players lasted far longer. Anyone else tried classic fixed with true-random dice?

I think my kitten stepped on my mixer and reduced the gain on my mic slightly. It's subtle but I figure if you noticed it other people did and didn't say anything. I really want to make the best show I can and there shouldn't be a big difference between the mic audio and the game sounds so thanks again for letting me know.

I find it much smarter to not steal a cap early, because that's giving me two things: a guy who hates my guts, trying to break everything and +2 troops for me, whilst -2 for him. Taking a bonus giving me even only +3 seems much smarter as 1) I get more troops. and 2) I don't get a mortal enemy whose only purpose in life in this risk round is to end mine, so I think not taking red's cap turn 1 is actually the correct play here. //edit: the Petemeown agrees, so my comment is futile, except for underlining his statement than to combat his "I could have stolen that." The petemeown knows. He's smarter than my Maine Coon, thus by induction, apparently he's smarter than me.

The trade in he somehow got the 14 trade which doesn't make sense as the maximum is a 10 trade and all of those were placeable troops not card troops so yeah definitely sus.
