An organization’s board of directors provides critical oversight and a strategic vision. But what does it take to become a part of this influential group? Whether you’re well on your way to board membership or just getting started, Professor Victoria Medvec will explain how you can prepare yourself to become “board-ready,” pitch yourself to others, and evaluate opportunities that come your way. She also offers specific tips for women and others who have historically been underrepresented on boards.
Victoria Medvec is the Adeline Barry Davee Professor of Management and Organizations at Kellogg, as well as the Co-founder and Executive Director of the Center for Executive Women and the best-selling author of Negotiate Without Fear. She leads the Kellogg Women’s Director Development Program, which has helped prepare more than 800 women for board opportunities. More than one-third of these women have been offered a board role, with many of them now serving on multiple boards.
