With the benefit of getting to re-experience this conversation, I can now remember why I started talking about that health NHI project situation 😂 It was because I was trying to demonstrate that the department I worked for at the CSIR wasn't an R&D type of place; it was very much a "Let's build stuff that will be used by communities, for communities," but I sadly didn't get to see those projects reach the people they were intended for. As a result, teaching seemed to call my name even more strongly because I thought that would be a space where I would get to see the impact of my work in something close to real-time 🌚 (ha ha haaaaa what a joke of a dream that was 😂)
