Why do we care SO MUCH about a name? The all new Integra is coming. And unfortunately, it looks like it's not going to be brewed with the same old recipe that made the car famous. This is the story of the Honda Integra.

I have put 480 miles on the new 2023 Integra and I gotta say, with all the dissing the Integra was getting, I was super excited, but somewhat nervous about the new one. I've driven the 98 GS-R Integra for 20 years and after a few years of ownership decided I'd never get rid of my car because I loved it THAT much ( I still have it). When I saw the design on the reveal and that it didn't look like my GS-R, I was very disappointed, but slowly came around after studying the design more, and harking back to thr original. It made sense more after thinking about it more. Acura was reintroducing to the world one of the most beloved names in automotive history, and as a result, the pressure was on! The anxiety of waiting for the Integra to be released was difficult to endure, but finally it arrived and when I walked up to my new Integra to take delivery of it, I was blown away with how amazing it looked in person! This is such a sweet car and to think I had previously struggled with the design, was amazed with how much I had grown to really love the new design. Seeing the car in person is a whole revelation, the pictures do not do it justice. Then driving this new Integra is another revelation. It's got 200 HP and most will say it's not enough power...but then you drive it and your mind changes and you realize that acura was going for an experience, and not trying to meet a numbers quota to be sporty. This car is a complete joy to drive. It is fast, and acceleration is most definitely fantastic! It's not a drag racer, and if you're looking solely on numbers, the 0-60 won't impress, but the experience is just pure fun! I took it through the canyon in sport mode doing all the twistie bits and it was so fun and I loved it even more! I'm not an automotive expert, but I like to say I have some expertise on what an Integra actually is...and this new one is definitely an Integra. It sounds like one, it drives like one, and Acura has put so many fun details into it that it represents everything about it. One more hint...the original was released as a comfortable, and nicely styled 5D hatch. So has this new one. That old Integra was juuuust the beginning of a legend, and I really believe this 2023 is only the beginning of another legend. Acura has put years of R&D into this car, and I see them doing a lot more with it, but even without a Type-S, this current Integra is a true Integra by every definition. It isn't a power house, and won't compete with them. My 98 GS-R never was a powerhouse, but it was fun anyway. As a canyon carver, that is then your daily driver getting high 30 MPGs, while delivering a ton of fun, I believe Acura has completely nailed this car. EVen for a V1.0, there's only a few things I'd add Driving is believing as one has said 😀 😍 🤩 ☺️ 😃 PS, the interior of this car is just fantastic. Simple, yet high end without being snooty, and keeping with the fun factor. I can see myself driving this car for years to come!

My own JDM DC2 Type R is my pride and joy. Its easily the single most fun car Ive ever driven, its discreet enough that it doesnt turn heads unless they know what it is, its fast enough to even give Skylines a run for their money, and it has never failed to put a big fat smile on my face whenever I drive it. I dont forsee myself ever selling it. Its even in original Factory Milano red which is stupidly rare even in japan. I love it so much.

I have one myself as my daily for over 15 years. 98 Spec JDM DC2, in silver. The rarest of all colours worldwide(it basically wasn't popular a colour. In the 2 door. in the 4 door it was funny enough). Though they're all getting rare enough now. 🙁 And I agree 100%, it's a very fun car, even a trip to the shops to buy milk is an "event". Stupidly reliable too. And is ok on petrol if you drive it easy. I did say IF. 😁 Fantastic seats, decent sized boot, damn near a small van with the back seats down. The same back seats are really only for kids, people missing legs or people who owe you money. 😁

I remember the day that Acura released a teaser of the Integra. I believe we all expect it to be another 2-door coupe but it's actually the other way around... We all know a lot of people did awesome beautiful renders of what the new Integra could be. 2-door coupe with features that almost the same as the teaser of the Integra headlights and also the design elements that are highly influcenced by the legendary Integra predecessor. But it all changed when we saw the real thing...

Exactly. It's outrageous for handa to basically re-badged a civic si. Not only the car is same in power, as well as 100+lbs heavier. Power to weight is worse than an si. Why would anyone pick this over si, is a bit beyond me if they claim themselves to be enthusiasts.

The one car I've had more love and respect for than any other car. I learned to drive in a 91 Integra sedan at the tender age of 8+ (I was a few months away from 9). My dad shortly sold that one and bought the corresponding coupe. We didn't have it for more than 2yrs. That was me hoooooked!!!! My 1st car for the most part had to be an Integra of some sort, whether the old 91 (which I did try to track) or the newer DC. I ended up with a manual DC1 as my 1st car 3yrs ago. For the 2yrs of ownership, I LOVED how it felt on the road. IT was AWESOME AF to drive. A real theatre. I sold it because to keep it running, given that I am in the Caribbean, its more expensive to maintain than a Civic (which I have an EK now), due to the availability of specific parts. Not a day goes by that I don't think of that car and how I felt. But reality is a cold thing. Maybe one day. Side note Trav, your right. The ordinary and the Type R can oversteer if you are in environment that has no grip. I've oversteered slightly, going around a roundabout at about 35mph or more. Regarding the new one, it looks nice and its not like they didn't have 4door Integras- they did. I guess the proof is in the pudding when it goes on the road.

Again, job well done Ideal Media. I was not excited about the reveal of the "new" Acura Integra but what Acura did with the Integra Type S changed all that to the point now where I now want to buy one. The difference between the base Integra and the Integra Type S to me is as striking as the difference between a base Honda Civic to the Honda Civic Type R. If this is what Acura had planned all along, I can forgive them. At the end of the day, Acura has to sell cars and the reality is that car enthusiasts only represent a small part of their sales. I am just glad companies like Acura found a way to still give us cars like the Integra Type S and the fact it only comes in a manual is a gift to all car enthusiasts.

One thing to note about the rsx vs 8th gen civic si. The rsx's k20a2 and k20z1 are considered superior to the civic k20z3 in terms of both power output and reliability. You see Honda got this strange idea to make the K20s smoother by incorporating the K24 balance shaft style oil pump in the k20z3. But this added a huge mass to the engine's rotating assembly which also lowered the redline. Most anyone with an 8th gen si who went much over redline would have oil pump failure, as the balance shafts, already spinning at 2x crank speed, would detonate sometimes as bad to split the block in two. But get this, the 8th gen si had a much better transmission than the rsx, because it had all dual cone carbon synchronizers and factory lsd. All of which is still compatible with the rsx trans case. Which brings me to another point. With k series parts interchangeability is absolutely insane. I have a 97 integra gs recently swapped with a k24a2 08 TSX motor, with parts from literally 20 different cars including accord, element, 8th gen si, tsx, and so on. Anyways thank you for the video, you really hit the nail on the head with your point.

Cool swap. Most people will not use their Acura to drag race but rather just drive it so the Civic SI with balance shafts is perfect and it feels fast. Also I liked my Integra for highway cruising at 120 mph because acceleration sucked. Most Americana just accepted highway speed limits and took to drag racing but when you are going 120 or 135 mph you need stable suspension, good engine to rev, some aero and guts.

You really think the Mach E sells just because it has a Mustang nameplate? People want EVs, and they want crossovers. As much hate as EVs get, they are just so much more convenient if you live in a city, of course they will fly off the showroom floors Ford could've named it anything and it would've sold well. The name might have a small effect on sales(we'll never know since this was Fords first performance oriented-ish EV crossover) but probably not a whole lot. I still hate that thing being called a Mustang, but the name isn't the reason it sells well

Acura needs to bring the 2 door version back and add some extra horsepower similiar to Civic Type R if they were to add a Integra Type R version. They definitely do offer some very good things to the Integra that succeeds the previous generations! Perhaps that would perfect it.

so basically we're not wrong, this is a basic bitch clickbait title to show us a plea to Honda in the hopes we get a type-R of the new integra. let's face it, honda has lost touch with it's roots and is now just another bland sedan company that'll soon do nothing but make electric crossovers, because they're "sensible" and "environmentally conscious". if you want to find the new kid on the block that can deliver on the old formula your best bet is to jump over to Korea and grab a hyundai i-20 N. or if you can find one, a veloster N. those cars are everything Honda used to be.

Yaknow, when people say 'No one buys coupes anymore,' I'm like 'Buys what coupes?' I think people are out of the habit of really expecting a practical, sporty hatchback that a driving enthusiast can live with as a daily/only car, when that was kind of a huge part of the market until options started getting cut back on/going away. A lot of these cars big in tuner culture actually weren't that specialized at the time. You could have your choice of almost anything with a stick and FR or FF if you wanted, even the Type R or etc could be commuted in reasonably-practically, and companies didn't really feel they *had* to homogenize the lowest common denominator and then try to make the market want *that,* unless you happened to want whatever limited options of overpowered (for purpose anyway) performance cars they could mark up ... I mean, I realize a lot of people, especially younger people, are physically-bigger and less likely to each have personal cars, but ...yaknow, I haven't changed, really, don't need to deal with extra doors or a limo-like space in the back seats, rarely carry more than one passenger, so, what would someone like me do, ...maybe get a GR86 and wish it had a hatchback for utility. Anyway, I think the 'popularity' of the homogenous is actually kind of an artifact of closing off options. "More people have to settle for this" doesn't mean people having more chance of selecting/optioning a really good fit for them wouldn't actually make more enthusiasm and maybe sales than trying to hype the controversy. And as much as the tuners modifying the older stuff that's leftto the extreme is a thing, doesn't mean those that can aren't paying pretty ridiculous prices for decent stock things that used to seem to go unappreciated. Kinda like with music when everything supposed to be 'popular' is like homogenied and autotuned and they wonder why nothing much is 'anthemic' or really generates enthusiasm. Cause sales and profits kinda overrode actually making there be something for everyone, instead of 'everyone must be for these specific somethings'

I think it was because it was designed by Acura USA, and not Honda Japan. Its a cushy a car designed for Americans. And I dont think it'll even be sold outside of America and maybe canada? If Honda japan designed it, they would of gone completely different. It would of been a smaller, focused competitor to the Toyota 86 probably. Im hoping they still do, a few japanese companies have completely different USDM and JDM cars with the same name

The ACURA INTERGA (all trim and Body Varients) is like John Wayne or Chuck Norris, you leave it alone! If you want to "recreate it", stick with the original format/formula. 4-door is acceptable, but don't make another SUV/CROSSOVER that we don't need/want. Make it EXCITING, Fuel efficient, but make our Hearts Race (in a good way)...

I think Acura made a mistake when they re released the NSX. It was worth the money but overpriced for the enthusiasts that loved it so much. They could've redeemed themselves with the Integra by making it a sports coupe that's highly tuneable like the supra. This might succeed but it might not.

when you say integra, despite having db8 4 door model, people still will think of the two door dc2 or the dc5. the new integra is very similar with the civic si. same engine, 6mt. And to my knowledge, the previous gen civic si has a coupe model. bottomline, a civic si is more integra than the "new" integra. something's wrong somewhere.
