I've been using the Ironmaster Super Bench Pro in my garage gym for the last 3 months. As always, I've used it for the typical movements like bench press, and rows, but this bench is unique in that it has attachments allowing for many other movements.
In fact, there are 7 different accessories that allow you to do anything from dips to pull-ups, and you have one of, if not the most versatile benches on the market.
There is a ton to like about the Super Bench Pro from Ironmaster, particularly it's smart design. however, there are some things that leave a bit to be desired when compared to it's name, the "SUPER Bench PRO." Let's discuss...

But did they address the sturdiness issue by using a heavier metal frame? Not sure but it looks like they overlooked that issue and made no improvement to it unfortunately...

Do you have the Pro V2? I just ordered one with the seat back, dip and situp attachment. I eventually will get the pulley system because it adds so many more exercises that are only at the gym and not having to buy a full cage with one. Plus it’s more compact and easier to store.

Hey man, I love my Super Bench Pro! Try the feet the other way around, with the smaller foot where your feet go makes it much better IMO and also the hybrid pad that you can buy additionally is a nice upgrade from the standard pad. 😎

This is how you're supposed to do it, but here's the problem. When youre doing flat bench, then the feet are too wide (you're supposed to bench above the vertical support - i.e., reverse of incline). But also, with it flipped the way Coop has it, I'm not certain that I'm okay with the stability of the leg extension with heavier weights. Just not sure how to fix this.

@@mattc2141 Ironmaster have stated it doesn’t matter what orientation you have the feet or where you load from it’s the same rating. In commercial gyms the wide foot with wheels is usually at the back where your head would be and smaller foot at the front. No problems with stability in any orientation including turning around with the crunch attachment for decline press 💪🏻

Update6 months and I'm still loving this bench. kzbin.infoUgkxo_64lVTGMk7y4aXTPxPOcQ3YTLyQ6kYV I use it almost daily. I've gotten used to the small wobble and it's no problem at all. Love the storage, it folds right next to my weight set in the garage and hardly takes any space. I wish the covering material was a little bit tougher. I have a feeling that in a couple years it'll tear, but the bench is very well priced that I would just buy a new one.3 month usage review. Awesome bench for someone looking for compactness and storage. I did have to drill a couple holes to adjust my preferred seating position and leg bar position but that's only due to my personal preference. It's very sturdy for normal workouts, but for anyone going above 100# dumbbell press it wobbles ever so slightly. I would probably go with a fixed bench if that's the case. That being said i can accomplish 99% of my normal gym workout with this setup. Very happy with the purchase.

I have the super bench for 10 years now and also have the rep ab5000. I am a big fan of Ironmaster as a company. This bench actually the super bench has been around longer than rogue and rep benches. IM is known for their im2000, dumbbells , super bench and attachments. Thier niche has always been for home gyms since like the 70s... to add to they have phenomenal customer service , they keep adding to thier ecosystem of attachments. Most importantly they don't really abandoned thier compatibility with thier older models like other brands do. They make virtually everything compatible (new or old). They are a role model fitness company. If they were to number the adjustments they would most likely make that part available separately instead of abandoning previous owners and leaving them in the dark. They did that with the v1 converted to v2 tower which I own as well. I totally agree with your points . I wish the adjustments were numbered. The foam rollers they use on say thier decline/attachment and other attachments is very cheap. Other than that always great reviews Coop!

For flat bench, I believe you’re supposed to flip the bench around so your back is over the column. That gives it the higher 1,000 pound rating for flat bench (vs 600 pounds for inclines), and also puts the narrower side of the bench by your feet. That helps with tucking your legs a little. I also cut down the non wheels side of my bench. It’s still very stable and I can tuck my feet no problem.
@IronmasterPro
@IronmasterPro 2 жыл бұрын
The 1000lbs is rated across the pad, not specifically over the column. We load-tested higher than 1000 lbs; but let's be honest, the world record bench press is still quite lower, we're confident it'll support the work being done on it.

My fav thing about this bench is how light it is. I sold my rep bench for this because of how portable this is. I would definitely not want them to make this heavier. Sure they could refine it in other ways (welds, numbers on position marks, padding, etc) but they def should not change the weight. My only other issue is that the pro should have more seat height options.
@airgordo4

Recently got this bench myself and honestly I was blown away. Looking at pictures and other videos I was skeptical of the quality but honestly I think the quality for the price is among the best you can buy. I like the stiff pad it's not uncomfortable and feels solid to press against almost like the commercial style DB benches, don't find the material slippery at all when laying on it, and have no issues with my feet on bench (put them on the other end of how you demonstrated). The versatility is next level, the decline attachment with the handle (I bought the pad covers too) is probably the best available at that price point. I stuck a Thompson Fat Pad on mine and it gives me a perfect flat and decline bench. From a purely flat bench, decline bench perspective I don't think any of the thousand + dollar commercial benches top it. I do miss out on some of the functionality and currently I am torn between buying a flat bench for my fat pad instead, or just buying a second Super Bench Pro because I'm truly that impressed by it. To me the only downside is the seat is always at 90 degrees. You do lose some fine tuning adjustments because of that. I think before the pricing increases the bench was like $399. At that price given the quality, feel, versatility, attachments, etc I don't think anything really came close to the value.. At the current price it becomes more of a toss up between this bench and Reps benches (and the copycats) depending on what the user wants.

Seems to me "quality" today is often judged by how much something weighs or how overbuilt it is. This bench is well designed and well made, as well as sturdier than a lot of supposedly "better" ladder style benches I've used.

I'm 55 and bought the Super Bench Pro two years ago and it's the best bench i've owned. I've had a fantastic HD adjustable bench (that weighs 85lbs) for the last 10+ years and wanted an adjustable bench with more incline angle adjustments but without the ladder so I can do incline dumbbell and barbell rows (I need the support due to back injuries from heavy squats, deadlifts, and lifting some things I should never have lifted over the decades). The attachment options were a big plus and bought the dip and leg extension ad-ons right after I received the bench. Very happy with those too. To me, the only improvement of the Pro v2 over the Pro is the higher seat insertion point but i'm content with the Pro's layout.

I love this bench... I have my gym in a small single car garage, and i need stuff thats good and compact. I managed to fit near commercial gym amount of options thanx to gear like this, that's excellent and also versatile. I have a tonal as a cable machine, a prx as a squat rack, a somewhat compact powertec leg press machine, powerblocks as dumbells and this as the main bench (giving me a compact dip station, leg extension machine and inverted ab workout statio ). That combination fits nicely and leaves most of the garage's space open and free to actually move around safely.

The welds on mine are actually quite well done in comparison to some that I've seen on the Rep benches. The Pro also has a screw pin to lock in attachments and wider/thicker base compared to the original for more stability. I agree, numbers on the adjustment arc would be a huge improvement along with better casters, a stand on one end for vertical storage and beefier steel (there is some flex on incline/decline movements).

Also Coop with the decline sit up attachment you can do decline bench presses and most importantly on a flat setting you can do the most badass hamstring exercise in existence, the Nordic hamstring curl with an easy set up which is huge in my eyes. Home gym owners and most commercial gyms don’t need a 200 pound bench that can hold 1500 pounds that costs $800 dollars I watch every review that coop does but also when he says things about making the equipment more expensive to manufacture I take that with a grain of salt. Just use a Sharpie to add adjustment numbers!!! It’s that simple unless you want to charge your customers more to achieve the same thing. Very awesome bench though for the price! In order to add numbers to the existing U piece they have 3 options: 1. Laser cut into the exhausting U piece which would probably take away too much material so they would then have to make it bigger which would then make the bench taller. 2. A separate stainless steel overlay that’s bolted of riveted onto the U piece resulting in an additional $50 to the customer. 3. Laser engraved 4. A sticker which Coop will complain about. Want more grip on the foot pedal, add some anti-slip trailer tape for $0.50

Great review. I also have this bench with the dip, pull up bar, and crunch attachment. I really like it. Honestly, some of the fit and finish issues pointed out in the video didn't really catch my attention and doesn't really bother me for how great the bench is overall. The two that do are the lack of labeling of degrees on the hinge and the casters aren't great for close turning. I don't know if the wheels are too close together or too small or too soft but maneuvering could be better. My other issues is how low the seat is, the angle/feel of the seat itself is a bit uncomfortable for the under regions and I wish the seat could snap in place instead of just sliding in with nothing to really hold it in place. But overall, this bench had been a joy to use.

The review was great as far as it goes. However by not including all the attachments you have sold this bench short. Perhaps you could do a follow up review featuring the remaining options. I use the tower option regularly, meaning I no longer feel like I am missing out by not going to a commercial gym. So too, the back extension device, which is pretty solid. (BTW, I have found this attachment can be set to do preacher curls too.) I have never been into leg extensions, but the same attachment provides a reasonable lying leg curl - something else you wouldn’t expect to find in a small home gym. All up, after nearly two years of solid use, I simply love my Super Bench Pro. The fact that I can add further attachments should I wish is also great. We all know the itch that needs scratching from time to time in getting extra equipment for our home gym. What this device enables you to do is simply add another option, without taking up any more floor space. The other aspect I’d like to mention is that my wife (who is not mechanically minded) is perfectly capable of moving the bench around, including hooking up the bench to the tower attachment, all when I am not at home. This is a big deal, as this gives her the confidence to use the gym without me, whilst I have the peace of mind she won’t come to grief in my absence. Oh yes, I can get all of this stuff in Australia (even if it might take a while), whereas a lot of equipment you review (e.g. Titan) simply isn’t available here. Finally, I have just ordered the head extension option. Taller people will find this useful for incline benching. Love your work Coop. Keep it up.

I guess I never used a Rogue or Rep Bench so I’m not able to compare the difference but it is more than adequate for what I was looking for in a home bench. I added the wheels on both sides of the bench for easy transportation as well. I also like that there are so many different settings for incline adjustments. Another positive I like is how it is truly a flat bench with no gap and to use it as an include you simply attach the seat which feels sturdy.

Ironmaster is my favorite home gym company. I have the Ironmaster Dumbbells with the heavy handle kit and expansion, the Superbench, leg attachment, curl attachment, cable tower, ultimate back attachment. Everything they come out with is well thought out and is commercial grade quality. Their customer service is excellent. I cannot say enough great things about them. Shipping will cost extra if not located in continental US but its well worth it. I forgot to add, you can order a wider bench pad which helps when bench pressing for added support for your back/wing support.

I have both the pro and the first model, first model is much taller, but with the attachments that can be added these benches saved my PT business during lockdown because of what you can do with them. I do fault the leg extension though, but I didn't hold onto that attachment for long. But other amazing benches. Defiantly worth it. I used both bench's 12 hours a day during lock down for work. Although they aren't commercial they held out fine.

Got this when it launched on sale for $319-ish then added the hybrid pad and a couple attachments. At current prices I'd have a hard time recommending it over the CAP+ Commercial bench (Legend 3103 clone from WF Athletic Supply) or REP's offerings, but it's the best 'All-Around' bench you are going to find in terms of specs. True zero gap without needing to adjust like REP's zero gap, easy adjustments, can stand upright, lightweight and easy to move around, plus more attachment options than any other bench on the market if you are short on space.

I have a regular super bench and love it. If I had to have only one bench it would be it, but it is best as a secondary bench to be used on accessory movements. As coop noted, the super bench pro is the right height, but its feet position make it not great for the actual bench press, which is the goal of that height. However, I will also note that as a tall person (6’2”), that height would make the leg curl/extension attachement useless, as I only have maybe a cm of space between my feet and the floor on the regular super bench. I’ll also note the regular super bench stands straight with the wheels (not standard) and the hybrid bench top makes the experience much better. Additionally the sit-up attachment works super good for holding your legs down in a rack mounted pulley system. I use a fb5000 for bench press and flat work and the iron master super bench for everything else, and for that it’s perfect

I used to have that bench and almost all the attachments. Coop, it’s really meant to compliment the im2000. I have owned an im2000 with and without it and I gotta say I sometimes regret not having it around. My regular rep fitness AB3100 has a hard time fitting in any ways around and in the IM2000 workout area space. That being said the awkwardness of not having a back pad for seated leg ext is an issue as well as the lack of comfy padding. Again if you are going to be using an IM2000 it’s probably a good idea to get one unless you want to compromise on some lifts.

@Paul LeClaire, I also have the IM1000 with all available attachments and the original bench (not SB or SB pro). Thinking of adding a SB or SB Pro though and wondering if you use any IM1000 accessories with your SB, for example leg curl, crunch sit-up, preacher curl, etc? I think some such as original leg curl may work with SB only and not SB pro due to shorter height? Also, do you remove your IM1000’s low row cross member to slide the SB in place? It appears a bench design like the REP 5200 could straddle the cross member so perhaps no need to remove it in this case? Thanks.

Can we get a review of the Get RX’d FIDAB-2 Adjustable Bench! I'm also interested in the weight across the front feet of each bench you have to understand the lifting force needed to move these around. I had a look at the Rep Zero-gap and damn was that thing heavy to pick up! Probably due to the mechanisms under the seat.

It was called most versatile in the title, but I did not get that feeling from this video. I looked into the bench more and I don't think there was enough emphasis on the large amount of attachment options they offer. However, for the cost/price/storage space (and storage difficulty, being awkward shapes) of some of the attachments, I think one can argue that in certain cases another piece of equipment might be better. But for those with a smaller space and the desire to hide attachments away in another location such as a closet, this bench could be very beneficial.

I've watched many of your reviews but I thought you were a little unfair on this one Coop. First, you put the legs on backwards. The wide one goes on back. Maybe not a big difference but still would make some difference. You didn't mention the hybrid pad available that supposedly has a better cover. You knock it because the quality isn't quite as good as benches that cost more and aren't as versatile. There is no mention about how well the add-on seat works. In my opinion, the light weight is a benefit. My wife doesn't want to be moving around a 100+ pound bench. This is also made in Taiwan instead of China, which is a significant difference to me. All in all, I think they are upfront that this isn't commercial quality but then it isn't priced like it either. This is still at the top of my list, just due to needing something that the entire family will enjoy using. If it were just me, it would be the Rogue all day long. I also would like to see a true "pro" version of this.

I bought this bench and the IM2000 and I can honestly say it's better than most of the equipment ive used in commercial gyms whilst being crazy versatile. @@Hammerhead1986 I ended up buying this bench. Every bench is has compromises and this one is no exception. But I was impressed with how stable it is considering what it weighs. Have had the Super Bench for years, and overtime picked up almost all of the accessories. One of which is the hybrid pad, I bought it for the wider end, hoping to provide more stability, but have found it too thin and way too hard to be comfortable. My other dissatisfaction was the pad surface arrived scuffed. When I spoke to their C.S., I was told to live with it and if and when it tears they would take care of it. Was not thrilled.

I just got my super bench Pro yesterday. I'm looking forward to using it. I've been using the Titan FID max for about a year and it is a decent bench. It's kind of clunky to move around and the Gap pad does get annoying. I figured switching to this bench I could finally do chest supported rows and a few other things I can't do on the Titan. The pad definitely seems extremely firm on the iron master. Almost feels like there's no padding at all on it. The seat set at 90° is also a little awkward at lower incline positions, but I knew that going into this purchase from other review videos. I'm sure it just takes some getting used to.

@@hmuziq0781 I think I made the correct choice. It took some time getting used to incline and seated military but after a few uses, it feels completely natural. Definitely buy the extra wheel addon so you can roll it from either side. I prefer decline situps with the Ironmaster Pro over Titan too. On the Titan your legs are in a straight line with your torso so it's like doing a straight leg situp which is pretty bad on the lower back. On the iron master your legs at the hips are slightly bent which feels more natural.

I have the older version for about 5 years now. I love it. As far as the number system on the pins. I bought cheap sticker numbers and placed them on. Also, the older version does have a leg curl and extension. The padding on my bench is still in really good shape. I am 275lbs and 6’2”. I have had the "Super Bench" along with most of the attachments except leg attachment for close to 15 years - great bench. Would like to buy the leg attachment. Recently wondering if should switch to the SB Pro and bkz leg attachment is the only piece that is bench specific, it is forcing a decision...stay with current SB or make the change now to the SB Pro. I'm not really bothered by regular Super Bench's extra height (I'm 6'4") but is the SB Pro leg attachment better (notice SB Pro must be in decline position as opposed to basic SB which remains flat). Is the SB Pro more stable or "better"...are the attributes of the newer Super Bench Pro worth making the change over? Thanks.
