8:50 YOU DIDN'T RESET BETWEEN GAMES. Press the ACL(AllCLear) button. Should reset. It detects what game is inserted on powerup and switches to that gamemode. The CPU still believes Submarine is playing when the screen/cartridge is detached. This won't make the games any more fun however.
@CRC.Mismatch6 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same... There's probably some jumper contacts in the "games" that the IC uses to detect what game it should "run".
@andrewpinedo18836 ай бұрын
How do you know that?
@CRC.Mismatch6 ай бұрын
@@andrewpinedo1883 easy... If you swap the "game" while running and the screen shows everything mixed up, but if you swap back everything works again, the "game" is actually just a screen with something to tell the "console" what 'code' to execute. Considering the price tag, it's improbable that there's anything actually different inside the "game", thus what remains is that there are extra contacts just jumped (or not) that the console checks upon start to tell what game it should run... Otherwise, everything would be garbled even worse when switching back, since the "console" would be running code from the "game" that is completely different from the actual in-play one, and still would start out-of-place for the intermediate one. Wow, that was a whiff of nostalgia I probably didn’t need. I actually HAD an Interchangeable Game Child! I reckon it was 1995 and I was in hospital having my appendix out. My Mum said she would buy me a present to cheer me up while I recovered. She asked what I wanted and I hinted that I’d like a Game Boy, knowing that might have been a stretch money wise but remaining hopeful anyway. Imagine my disappointment when she returned to the hospital with… the Game Child! I think it worked as well when it was new as yours does a couple of decades later. James has definitely spent more time and effort on it than it ever deserved but it was worth it for the hilarious teardown!
