Yes, if you hook the speakers up backwards you will get less bass so what happens when neither terminal is marked and both terminals are the same size which normally is? You take a small double AA battery and touch the power wires to the speakers using 2 wires, if the speaker pushes outwards, you have the plus and neg correct and mark them with a marker or scatch them with the correct symbol and if it pulls in, the positive of on the battery is really the neg so mark it. On larger speakers use a 9v

@pmaly78

Thanks for the tutorial! Is it possible to replace the power source with a battery? If so, how do you determine which battery to use? Would you only look for a battery that can generate enough amps or other factors too?
@Toid
@Toid 7 жыл бұрын
It is. I usually use this battery if you want good life out of it. You typically need one that will push 12v, however that is completely up to the amp you use. You can also get a smaller one if this one is too big. This Lepai would be 12v. smile.amazon.com/Talentcell-Rechargeable-6000mAh-Battery-Portable/dp/B00MF70BPU/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1501128664&sr=8-4&keywords=talentcell+12v If you use a 5v board, you can use thebattery I used in this build kzbin.info/www/bejne/a3W4qoqtgZpkjas

@Toid
@Toid 8 жыл бұрын
+jorge palomera Thanks! You absolutely could use any 4 ohm or 8 ohm speaker. So as long as your 6" speakers are 4 or 8 ohms, you are fine. You would just make an enclosure that would fit your speakers. The bluetoth amp is a Sure Electronics AA-AB41136. I got it from Parts Express. I use this bluetooth whenever I can, it really is impressive!

Could you have powered the Amp 1st followed by the BlueTooth in order to shut off power to the BlueTooth with the Amp power switch?
@Toid
@Toid 6 жыл бұрын
SPAMP no. However you could open up the amplifier and solder wires directly onto the board to the power switch. That's how you could get it to turn on and off by that power switch

The small board is only a bluetooth receiver. You still need an amplifier. www.parts-express.com/sure-electronics-aa-ab41136-bluetooth-40-audio-receiver-board-aptx--edr-12-vdc--320-351

hey, me and my father are making a similar build and are about to buy the amplifier and Bluetooth module and i was wondering whats the difference between a bluetooth receiver and an amplifier and which one to get
@Toid
@Toid 8 жыл бұрын
You can buy an amplifier with the bluetooth on board if you want. The biggest difference will be sound quality. Bluetooth has a few different versions. The most typical are 3.0 and 4.0. If you want he best sound quality from todays electronics, you'd want to o with 4.0. That is why I use the Sure Bluetooth Amplifier. But if you are using older electronics that do not support 4.0, you can save some money and buy a bluetooth 3.0. As far as the amplifier, I would try to buy something with pretty decent reviews. Check out the distortion ratings. The higher the rating, the worse the sound quality. I hope this helps.

If you hook the wires up wrong (for the power) you are risking blowing up both the Bluetooth receiver and the amp

Yes, in the long run, but if you don't have a multi tester, you can plug it in, for couple of seconds just to check polarity. I have a multi tester, but i still do this.👍😁✌️

Question, say I was building a Bluetooth speaker with that same lepai amplifier and wanted it to operate off of a 12v battery. How would you go about charging that battery without removal of the battery from the speaker box?
@Toid
@Toid 7 жыл бұрын
There's many ways of doing this. I am assuming you are talking about an SLA battery. Honestly it is better to use a Lipo battery for this. It is lighter, takes up less space and you can use a regular 2.5 or 2.1 x 5.5 charging port. And they typically come with the charging cable. I used this in both my Dewalt Build and my Ultimate Ammo Box build: smile.amazon.com/Talentcell-Rechargeable-6000mAh-Battery-Portable/dp/B00MF70BPU/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1506491050&sr=8-1&keywords=talentcell+6000

Now would that same linked battery pack be able to power something with say 200 watts? out of curiosity
@Toid
@Toid 7 жыл бұрын
Not without the use of a boost converter. (aka step up the voltage). It is rare you will ever need anything near 200 watts in a portable unit, unless you are powering a sub or another big speaker that lacks sensitivity.
@seanguilloud3472
@seanguilloud3472 7 жыл бұрын
I guess what im looking to do is make a large bluetooth speaker using a (Lepai LP7498E 200W) and the only part im really having an issue understanding is what i need to do to be able to run this amplifier. as well as charge the battery, so i would be able to say take it tailgating. I appreciate your replies!
@Toid
@Toid 7 жыл бұрын
That helps clarify quite a few things. First, that amp uses a 36v power supply. In that case, you would need to run three 12v batteries in series to get the required voltage to run that amplifier. Or run a dc boost converter to boost a 12v signal to 36v. This will power the amp to it's full capacity. A boost converter will shorten your charge rate on your batteries (ie it won't play as long). So your second problem will be figuring out how to maintain that power. Charging on this type of setup, would almost certainly need an external balanced charger.

I'm trying too find a cheaper Bluetooth board but cannot find one that has all the outputs that you have on yours including the vcc/grd one any suggestions would be great
@Toid
@Toid 8 жыл бұрын
If you want a less expensive bluetooth adapter, your best bet is to buy an amp with one already built in. You can buy them off ali express for about $10-$20. This is for both the amplifier and bluetooth module, so quite a bit less expensive. Something like this would work www.aliexpress.com/item/TPA3116-LM1036-Class-D-DC18V-24V-50W-50W-CSR4-0-Bluetooth-Amplifier-Board-Treble-Bass-Adjustment/32711899351.html?ws_ab_test=searchweb201556_0,searchweb201602_2_10057_10056_10065_10068_10055_10067_10054_10069_10059_10058_418_10073_10017_10070_10060_10061_10052_10062_10053_10050_10051,searchweb201603_6&btsid=30a852e9-22bb-4235-a883-e54369b648ba Just remember 2 things. First, the cheaper you go, typically the less sound quality and secondly this board would need at least an 18v power supply. I could probably just get a 19 or 20 volt. Just do not overpower the speakers you are getting. If this helped, please help me out by liking the video! Thanks! Feel free to ask any other questions.
