This is probably the single most important website in history, 200 years from now this will be used to archive pretty much everything. It's important to protect it otherwise we lose an important part of our history.

I bet in 80 centuries from now the internet archive will be 10 times bigger than the internet itself today and all of the songs in this age will be archived, I think the internet archive is a very important piece of the internet that must not be taken down, I believe it's very important to archive as much history as possible

I hope it survives the many lawsuits that will be aimed at it due to copyright issues. A truly democratic library? Streaming and reading (and so much more) for free? Unacceptable to those who'd prefer everyone to have to pay. It's a noble and necessary effort. I sincerely hope that it will stay afloat.

@@charmanater this is America. Freedom of speech is the foundation of our nation. I understand your concerns but there's a way around this. You simply host a request to ping to the API upload to be sent in 100 years. By then the person who owned or posted it will be dead and the future generation can learn. The videos of controversy (ex: Logan paul) is a video when uploaded, effected the happiness and liberty of that person but if it was uploaded 100 years later he's dead then and people can learn while the souls of those depicted rest in peace . This is so conflict of interest to abuse is obviously gone since all parties are dead.
@charmanater

@@oxnard_audit9923 In a case like logan paul this wouldn’t matter because the video was saved by numerous people, but in a case with smaller channels what if they accidentally uploaded something they didn’t mean to? or perhaps an old video that they no longer feel comfortable having uploaded, its nothing to do with free speech buddy and this isn’t america.

@@charmanater you can ask to remove it by contacting internet archive. Internet archive is in fact is in America, in San Franscico , what more American can you get there? All officers take an oath to the constitution, including military , to defend the freedoms our grandfather of our nation approved.

The data is most likely stored on persistent drives which will keep storing the data for a significant period after power shuts down, and there would also likely be backups on mediums like tapes or other drives. The servers might also be using uninterrupted power supplies, allowing them to persist for a while after power cuts off, allowing them to safely shut down or persist.

Does is interfere or rob someones ability to earn off the book that he/she has written though, Yes or NO? Do people lose out on their hard work and what are the correct moral steps in current times where moral seems to be disappearing... do we take a breath and think a bit before we answer such questions? Books are a fortune especially purchasing from my country and goodness knows I can do with a library that has everything but is it right though and am I stealing to a degree someones income?
