The wildest thing is that they could've pulled from the comics and had them all invade Gemworld, the 5th Dimension, The Dreaming or any other alternate fantasy land that's actually IN the DCU, but they went with the usual anime RPG like setting. I think that was for the best, cause something like Gemworld, from the Amethyst comics, would've been WEIRD AS HELL for any person that isn't aware of DC lore. This makes it easier for people to get into DC stuff without it being overwhelming. Just have a bunch of popular and obscure DC villains all fight each other with orcs, elves and dragons as collateral damage. That's fun.

I would have used a different story. Basically have it be this way, where Harley Quinn, being part of the Suicide Squad, has to find out about the Isekai world, and then disappears. So less known Suicide Squad members have to rescue here. Why was she send there in the first place? The scientists experimenting on parallel worlds got a message through one of their portals, and Harley Quinn was send there to scout, as she is athletic, which means she would be able to climb easily through the foreign terrain and do scouting. That in my mind is a better plot hook than "the criminals disappeared". Why was the message send? Because there is a force in the Isekai, working on portals to conquer other dimensions. But one of the people living there send a warning signal ( ironically saying to not open portals of their own to other dimensions, to not draw the forces´ attention. )
