A couple ways to identify those fake rescue channels: - They don't take the animals to a vet (or if they say they did, don't film it) or back to their own rehab center. - No social media presence/website outside of KZbin. - The channel isn't based in America (biggest one, these guys can get away with this because there are very few legal protections for animals in their countries). - They just stumble upon the animals in need rather than get calls from the public - Frequent dramatic and unlikely rescue situations. Crazy rescues do happen for real, but not every day. Hope for Paws and Wildlife Aid are both great real rescue channels for comparison.

I'm a part-time wheelchair user, meaning that I can walk under certain circumstances, but the wheelchair is often extremely helpful. People seem to think that you either use a wheelchair at all times, or you're lying about being disabled. The ZillionOP story really hurts, because it adds to the narrative that those of us who aren't 100% wheelchair bound are just trying to trick people.

Yup I agree I'm in my 30s and have extreme back problems I've been having trouble walking even around the block I get dizzy when I stand too long so I have to off and lean on things or sit down and take a break when I go into stores I grab a cart Even if I don't need to because it makes it easier to walk it can be very embarrassing and 1 day I know I'll need a wheelchair and it's ridiculous that you have to be paralyzed to use a wheelchair I can't be sitting down on people's porches every time I gotta go around the block I can't even walk downtown or anything now It is ridiculous at my age and it really sucks Sorry for your situation and I completely agree with you I noticed that too if someone is in a wheelchair say in a movie and they stand up everybody's just shocked like somebody who can walk at times for certain distances can't use a wheelchair when they cannot walk it's ridiculous

For the r/quit one it's probably rooted in a lot of American culture. Minimum wage jobs here are not just bad, they're subhuman in a way. Long hours for not enough pay and no benefits (tho each company is different) and customers that see you as less than human sometimes, Karen is a stereotype for a reason, and bosses having a bad hierarchy. @205ken4 Yea actually it was likely a combination of propaganda and racism as it would have always been a low barrier entry for workers, those who were not permitted to gain further education were likely to have these entry jobs. The lazy thing has ALWAYS been levied against the poor/POC/underprivileged populations as a way to divide the classes by making it look like they are poor by their own choice rather than economic systems being in place that actively prevent the poor from even raising to the middle class, let alone upper class

What is the income cut-off where it goes from not okay to steal to becoming ok to steal? If a man starts making bricks and selling them, makes enough to quit his day job, and after many years is able to open a second location, is it ok at that point? Is it when he opens a third or fourth? It's still just people creating a service in order to make a living and most money a company brings in doesn't even go to the owner. @@davidschmidt2081 I don’t know if this applies to the intent of the original post but I think for most people who are in the brick wall making business and rely on the brick maker to get their bricks, especially in the case where the brick maker is the sole avenue for getting bricks there is no alternative. The brickmaker one day decides, he no longer sells bricks, he sells blocks of mud hay and chicken shit now and all future business will be conducted concerning his poop blocks you are to forget about the beautiful red bricks of the past. So you start using his poop blocks for a while and yes technically they’re a substitute for the bricks but you know he still has bricks and really all you want are the bricks and all of your brick wall customers are complaining that their walls are made out of poop blocks now and not bricks. So one day you go to the brick maker and tell him you’ll do whatever you can to make it worthwhile for him to start selling his bricks again but he tells you that you are a fool to want bricks his poop blocks are much better and much more suited to the new poop block aesthetic he has envisioned for the future. So you steal them, it doesn’t make it right but you don’t really care anymore because finally you have bricks again bricks are all you ever wanted. You can’t make brick walls out in the open for people anymore but you take them home and make some nice brick walls in your garden and enjoy them alone in obscurity, just you and your bricks and your eventual inescapable death which you await with open arms because you have no regrets, you got your bricks back, everyone can move on without you in poop block world.

I live in christchurch New Zealand, and it never fails to suprise and make my gut turn over when people celebrate or agree with what happened here. People don't know our city had just already been through trauma from a massive quake disaster and was only just starting to heal when someone from another country decided to do that to our people. Okay, as an actual wheelchair user, banning a wheelchair user for standing is absolute bullshit. 80% of us are ambulatory aka not only can we 'miraculously' stand, but we can walk a little too! 80% is the vast majority and we often receive harassment in the public and ESPECIALLY online because of the misconception that every wheelchair user is paralysed. For many years i was terrified to move my legs in public after seeing memes along the lines of 'it's a miracle!' mocking and harrassing ambulatory wheelchair users online. I am in receipt of disability benefits in the UK and in this country the govt agency (the DWP) that deals with awarding these has become increasingly belligerent, stringent, poorly informed on disability and quick to ban people from receiving benefits around the time and public culture had become incredibly hostile to the idea of supposed benefit cheats and fraudsters and would report their own neighbours to the DWP. This wasn't helped by the fact that they had downright become a panopticon, gaining access to supermarket and gym CCTV recordings and filming people outside their house. So given these things and the fact this misconception is so widespread, i would refuse to move my legs even though doing so was actively painful for me to do. Obviously the fact he lied about having a fall and pretending he needed to continue using is his chair is bad, but the fact he stood does not preclude him being a wheelchair user or a 'miracle' is all i wanted to say.

The amount of neo nazis and hate crimes happening in our country as of late the problems arising within our country while we play it off to the rest of the world like we’re doing great since the shooting, we’re not, aotearoa may be a nice country compared to others, but it comes with many faults just like every other country the only difference is that our country likes to hide it, one being those shooters were supported in their community before they went through with the shootings and the support slowly rising for that mindset since, those who support or supported it, are just as bad and are STILL there and freely roaming, spreading their ideals to anyone who’ll listen

I'd love to read that essay you wrote about "Algorithmic Radicalization". As for banning radical groups, the effect is more mundane: a) they already have platforms, print media, social groups, fundraisers, and lobbyists at their service. "Radicalization" is not a consequence of their banning. Mainstream access = free media just like you and any other KZbinrs don't have to shell out for servers and software serving thousands of people. Kicking them out means they need to go into their own pockets to do so (I hear Truth Social hasn't paid its bills in a while). They need to get specialized advertisers that are already stretched for their dollars in these high-interest days or need to hold a store to peddle food supplements and T-shirts to survive. Ban them to irrelevancy and poverty.

I may be mistaken: Parents didn't/don't spread chicken pox around to others kids because it allegedly lowers the risk of shingles as an adult. Once you have chicken pox, at ANY age, you have the potential for shingles. Age is no factor. They made sure chicken pox were spread to every kid to allow them to get it out of the way in their youth, as chicken pox as an adult apparently sucks waaaaay more.

Fun fact. The first (knowingly) racist person I knew was actually born on 4/20 and as we grew up you could see more and more her anger towards others. At one point we were on the same cheer squad and drastically different people but she was always on my ass at practice and shit... cause I was a blonde hair blue eyed girl and everyone else was racially ambiguous. I assumed it was a family trait but nah I met and got along well with them. Her sisters fiance wasnt from here and I was there before during and after many times of their visits and everyone except my "friend" adored him.
