So, a little bit of backstory on the names "Trip", "Tripp", and "Trey". In the USA, in the South, there is a cultural tradition of people being called "Tripp" or "Trey", but that's not actually their names. In reality, they are the third generation with specific name in their family. For example, let's say there is a guy named James Morgan Smith. Then, his son is named James Morgan Smith as well, so he is James Morgan Smith Jr. or James Morgan Smith II. In the South, he was traditionally just be called "Junior". Then, Junior has a son, and his name is also James Morgan Smith. That son is now James Morgan Smith III, but in the South, he would just be called "Trip", "Tripp", or "Trey". Trip comes from the shortening of "triple", and Trey comes from the Latin "tres" (probably). This tradition may be dying out, but I still see it happening, so I guess it's still relevant. For example, Philip DeFranco's first child is actually also named Philip, but because he is the third Philip, he is usually just called "Trey". Though the family lives in California now, Philip DeFranco is from the South. I think his wife is too, but I can't remember. Eventually, some people didn't realize that "Trip" and "Trey" were not actually names, and now there are some people legitimately with those names.
