Super happy I found The Interrupters, went to a random Flogging Molly concert in Lewiston, NY a week ago and these guys came on before Flogging Molly. They were wayyyyy better than Flogging Molly. Made a fan out of me that night.

Well the 2 genres are closely linked on at least a base level. Once people figured out they could pick up an instrument and play literally anything though the 60's and 70's the ethos of "We do what we want, not what were told" birthed punk. It's where sooo many got their start before they learned more than 4 chords and actually got good. Many "metal" bands like Metallica, Pantera, and Motorhead cover a variety of punk songs. Hell Slayer did an entire album of punk covers. It's like any genre: there's some good punk, some bad, but we all have different taste and there's something for everyone

The Interrupters have a phenomenal track record of great songs, uplifting songs, rallying songs, etc... this might be their most important song. For a ska band to do a serious take on mental health has the potential to be a game changer for a lot of lives, even beyond the ska/punk scene. I had a feeling that we would have a ton of epic music coming out from the pandemic, I'm glad that we have bands like the Interrupters to help steer those songs in a postive way.

@deancosens57102 жыл бұрын
@@JustinLesamiz that's a weird take on a very personal song. Yes, there has been a history of taking on mental health issues within punk music for a long time, but not always with such an explicit explanation from its writers. If you feel it's very generic I'd recommend checking out some of the interviews surrounding the release and also the documentary about the band which will fill you in on some of the history behind it. Hope that helps :)
