honestly i think he mostly got it. The only thing he really missed was that the reason the sun explodes is because it's at the end of its natural life cycle. Other than that, I think he understood it pretty well

@@snarpkingthe word “past” is kind of inaccurate here, they’re both from the past depending on your perspective. Self may come from the future, but they come from a prior loop. the player is the “current” hatchling for our purposes, since we follow the memories back to the campsite through the ash twin project. since, from the hatchling’s perspective, they JUST WERE Self, they were just nestled into the transmitter in ATP, it would be totally fair for them to see Self as a “past” version of them, and themselves as the “current” version. in fact, it would be difficult for Self to make their own argument in the other direction. certainly the Hatchling just woke up, in the same place you did 22 minutes ago, in the same exact place and way. but they have ALL of your memories! they are just as “current” as you are…. HOWEVER, given that the existence of Self is predicated on the player traveling back in time physically through the black hole, meaning that the Player is ‘cause’ and Self is ‘effect…’ so the Hatchling is OBVIOUSLY materially from the past (or at least the present), while Self is materially from the future. they are both their own past present, and future selves, as well as being divergent individuals with one single 22-minute memory block (including the microsecond at the beginning where all prior loops are downloaded) made artificially common between you.

honestly, going planet to planet is literally a single button press with the autopilot, Jerma just decided to give up on it after falling into the Sun like a gazillion times, and the exploration gets a little complicated sometimes, yes, but everything is extremely easy to track and piece together once you've gone and read the texts/discovered the objects etc. How Mr. 985 understood everything so horribly is beyond me. I guess he didn't want to spend time looking at the rumor map cuz it'd be boring or something
