Honestly, as an MMO GW2 is a very very good and solid game, in my opinion what gw2 needs now, is not more ccontent, it needs visual and sound rework, it needs to update the asset it uses to 2020+ standards, there are things in this game that were designed before 2010 when they first developed the game and it didn't age well at all, i believe that anyone who first time try the game, they really don't like the graphics, and sound effect also, if what they said is true about them having the most new player jumps since 2016/2017, can you imagine how many players would join the game if it was visually reworked ? I believe a lot. Content wise if someone wants to play everything in this game (story, dungeons, fractales, raids, wvw, mastery point, legendarries etc) we are talking about more 3 000 hours of content easily especially if one want to try to play different proffession. Someone tell this to Anet, the game is absolutely great, work on your visual and sound effect.

This discussion is always interesting to me because different things matter to different people. For example I had an identical comment on another video asking for less visual updates & more content. For me, I'm a balance nutjob. So I'd love more Balance Patches more frequently. But I also recognize this applies to sub < 1% of People. Imo Guild Wars 2's greatest strength is that I has so many strong-suits. But that also can be it's greatest weakness. Still going strong tho! 😄

I would pay money for the ability to customise my UI. Right now, I am either staring at the bottom of the screen and ignoring whatever's on the actual game or I'm doing substandard dps because I either miss stuff coming off cd or I don't know when my buffs are aligned. Like surely it wouldn't kill people to allow just me to move some icons around to the middle of the screen so that my eyes don't have to move 2 miles every time I get *that* feeling. I would in fact pay 20 dollars for the ability to have a gimpy Weakauras that doesn't allow you to track external things on my GW2 and nothing else.

There are a lot of games that are incredible visually but have the gameplay depth of a puddle. There are also games that look awful visually but have amazing gameplay. I don't think spending a ton of time and money to revamp the entire game in 4K would add much appeal to attract/retain players. The gameplay systems need the overhaul more than the graphics and sound. Don't get me wrong I'd love a modern rehaul of the game but I don't think it would be a wise investment

Considering how truly massive GW2 is as a game, I don't think a visual overhaul is a realistic thing to expect. RuneScape did a visual overhaul of their game once around 2008 and it took them more than a year + outsourcing to visually overhaul their entire game. And while RuneScape is also a massive game in its own right, its assets were way more 'plug and play' and less diverse than GW2's are. Also maybe I'm blinded by growing up with GW2's graphics but I really do not think they're as bad as some are making them out to be. GW2 needs to focus on aspects that are truly painful by modern standards. Like why are there still no character specific keybinds. The only two games that notably do not have this feature are GW2 and League of Legends, which is absolutely mind-boggling. Why is the bank-size so tiny and why does it cost so much real money to buy additional bank tab slots. It's actually insane how much of a pain item storage is in this game, combined with just how many items you're spammed to death with. It turns the game into an item management simulator at some point which just feels shit. Why's the camera still got that annoying acceleration/slown down effect of sorts. It felt shit back when the game released and it still feels shit to have such an odd camera movement dynamic.

GW2 is all about Elder Dragons, human gods and The Mists. In my opinion, after almost 12 years the main story has already been told, now it's just side stories and clichés. See those new maps full of old monsters with new skins. Achievement rewards become a joke after 42k. With the exception of HoT, all the expansions before SoTO talk about humans, but none of them talk about the origin of the human race (humans are aliens in Tyria), like HoT did to Silvary. There are lots of rooms for improvement, for example, a decent housing system, a perfect system would have the excellent houses of The Elders Scrolls Online and the customization capacity of Final Fantasy XIV (except for the monthly payment to maintain your house). Another thing that frustrates me is the absence of thousands of achievement points that were removed from the game due to events that happened once and never returned, as an example I mention the appearance of Tequatl and Karka Queen, apart from the achievements referring to several Festivals that had an "X" festival tag, such as "Shadow of the Mad King 2012" or "A Very Merry Wintersday '13".

With the game's industry the way it is now I'm not sure there's too much room for big epic's arcs anymore. Unless they finally dig into what Guild Wars "Utopia" was going to be and dig into Guild Wars 1 nostalgia.

The canthan and soto story about demons from alternate universes just didn't appeal to me at all. What was great about og gw2 was heroes vs elder dragons to save tyria. Once that wrapped up I think going back to more of a faction/civil war type story would've been more interesting

Not to mention ANet's one of like 2 studios that's actually up' rn under NC Soft -- So who knows what that'll mean for their funding corporate structure. Could mean more development dollars, or that any future expansions are outright canceled altogether. Either way, I'm personally hoping for a different release structure.

Commenting here since it’s your newest video and thus better for the algo for you, but: Do you have a video where you go over your controller set up specifically? I’ve tried searching your channel name + controller in a bunch of variations and I’m finding lots of videos of you doing various content, on a controller, but ofc you didn’t spend your life going over your controller set up from scratch dozens of times. It looks like you have a lot of abilities on face buttons, which blows my mind. As a controller PC player I’m always loathe to come off the sticks in combat if I can help it, and I’ve been working on a setup to minimize coming off the sticks. (I only have 300 hours so far).

It's in shorts' format which is why it may not have come up: kzbin.infodvPOy4WfD7w?si=bFV8szHyxMpiDnJM | I use a combination of XPadder (shown in the bottom right for most mappings) + REWASD for the XBox Elite controller's extra bottom paddles. The XPadder mappings are shown in that video & the file should be downloadable from the GDrive link in the description! I'd back up your GW2.config file first tho because w/o the context of XPadder remappings the bindings are pretty random. 😄 Hope this helps, and if you have any questions just ask!!

At present I’m crutching the Steam Controller’s dual stage triggers, but I’m just not sure if I can get consistently precise enough to deliver a solid ration or pvp responsiveness. Ordered a Vader 3 and that’ll necessitate setting up rewasd. Will def look into your set up!

@@piedpiper1172 REWASD should be free (or at least the base was) if you had anything with an AMD CPU - which I believe included the steam deck! Gyro might help with the static mouse acceleration issue (which is the only thing that XPadder doesn't do well.) But I hope it helps & am glad you're enjoying the game!! @@GW2Pseudo I have a 5800x3D, so I’ll see if I can get some sort of discount. Like I said, my main thing is wanting all core actions to not require giving up movement and camera control. Atm I’m using a Steam Controller. Right pad is mouse, click for 1. LT Soft Pull 2, Full Pull 7, hold F1 RT Soft 3, Full 8, hold F2 LB 4, double 6, Hold F3 RB 5, Hold F4 L Back Button Weapon Swap, Hold 9 R Back Button Dodge, Hold 0 Various other things like tab, take target, map, etc are placed on d pad and face buttons. Just not happy with speed and consistency. Vader 3 has a 6 button ABXYCZ cluster and 4 back buttons. Gyro mouse would make the face super reliable, not sure yet. My current set up also restricts me to action camera since I can’t comfortably use the mouse buttons while moving. Would like to remove that ceiling if possible. I’m sure with enough refinement I’ll get it figured out. Assuming I ever sit down to set it up and start working on it.

But seriously, where was the offhand focus or even OH axe that could have bolstered existing support(where there are certainly still gaps), condi, and maybe even power builds across ALL specialisations? Solid to know, thanks!! & Yeah I have 0 earthly clue why Thief didn't get a MH + an OffHand or, at least failing that, just an off-hand. Other than "If we just add an off-hand people will riot." Same with engi honestly. That way ANet could have added more customization' to both Professions in terms of what they can do / play like. Maybe even added some more Support' to Scepter. Ele got 19 new skills with Pistol alone, Necro got 11. It's not too much of a stretch to do 14 including ambushes and dual skills on Thief. But words are easy, work's hard, etc. Nonetheless glad you liked it! 😄

By "Skewed toward PvP" they mean ease of completion. A person who only does PvP can currently finish their weekly within about 30 minutes to an hour due to the ease of completion of the PvP objectives compared to the PvE and WvW objectives which typically take much longer.

I wanted to verify and I see what you mean. The starts need to align* basically on the weeklies, or you need to set up a custom arena for it. But around a half an hour is definitely possible. Perhaps they'll give a bit of QoL love to the wizard vault then. It's a pretty good system but there's a few tweaks they could add to make it even better.

I'm seeing tons of new players all the time ingame. It's quite strange considering how GW2 has been ignored by so much of the MMO playerbase for so long. But it seems during this lul of content downtime for WoW and FFXIV, many players are trying GW2 and hitting level cap to discover the huge amount of content for a new player on offer. Whether they will stick around once Dawntrail and The War Within are launched remains to be seen.

As Grouch said, the Steam Release helps. But imo. it's also kinda huge that the base game is (actually) free not "free but we wall you off" in 2024 and you can still play across all of these types no matter who owns what XPac. ^^ It ebbs and flows, as with everything. But I think GW2 carved out a pretty nice little mmo marketing niche in a non-predatory way. 😄

Pretty much. I do always find it funny when people (even my friends) go: "X Content is so easy!" (i.e. WvW Dailies, Skyscale collections, etc.) Followed by something like: Me: "Then why don't you do them?" Person X: "Because they're not fun." Me: "So you mean they're not easy for you to do...?" Person X: "Uhhh, Gremlins, Look over there! Bye!" Me: "Uh, huh..." Different things are "easy" for different people. Mostly because different people enjoy different things and are different. Yes the WvW and PvP dailies *usually* take about 5m less to complete. That doesn't make people who wanted to do them want to do them any more than they already did. And that's OK.

I think i might want to mention that axe for thief only "sucks" in pvp/wvw. In PvE is a actually hughe quality of life change since you now are not needed to stay right in the enemy and eat every mechanic of him to do good dmg. So in this case axe is actually realy good done xd

That's solid to know. I always appreciate when people who can main other classes I don't can point out the nuances of it! From an outside perspective it just looked & played like "more complicated pistol." So I'm glad it brings something somewhere. Altho imo, this still could have been accomplished (and more) with a clever off-hand weapon or both main + off. Since that way they could have bolstered the rather mediocre Support' that Scepter provides as well.

I don't understand why ncsoft is letting gw2 die in favor of its failed throne & liberty game. Especially when gw2 did so well in quarterly earnings last year

It is insanely apparent that they lack direction with this whole "new" way of doing x pacs, etc. I'll help (for free)- it's time for GW3, GW2 has run its course and there is nothing really more to do with it...... If they decide to keep GW2- this game needs massive quality of life updates to bring it up to 2024 standards for gaming. That is what is holding this game back, more content will just add to the current mess. Not only that, but they are trying to force people into more group content and they just do not have the quality of life systems in game to support it. If they want an "end game" there needs to be support systems behind that (look the the other group games)- GW2 has none of those systems. You are falling down in your planning (as in there doesn't really seem to be one).

Respectfully, I disagree. That's kind of how the game's industry is right now. Much is uncertain and you can't really just "bang out Guild Wars 3 in like 1-2 years an have it be quality. Not with their team size. Moving to what is essentially a "battle pas but healthy" model is both good for the game (that's where the profits are instead of in things like rng loot boxes - which everyone hated anyway) and for the game + it's community. If you want to help instead of offering free criticism on KZbin videos perhaps let them know what you like / they could do better on larger channels that get more eyeballs, reddit, or their forums! 😄

If you read my post, it suggests that they should focus on quality of life improvements to bring the game up to modern standards. GW2's turn towards group content is curious at a moment when most mmo's are turning towards offering more solo content to be more inclusive- even WOW (the classic group content game). Not sure if that is the right move unless you have the systems to support it (GW2 doesn't really). My original post also suggest on working on GW3....... so don't know why you feel suggestions weren't offered...... GW3 doesn't have to be developed in isolation. They can keep offering patches, updates and items in GW2 to keep the momentum going then use the BG3 model of early access and plenty of feedback response. That game was in early access for like three years? GW2 doesn't have to end at that time, it can be parallel development. They also haven't added much new playable races or new classes so there is also that route. The real strength in this game (besides the build customization) is the WvWvW. That experience is almost unique to this game and it is good when it is working right. Why in the world they haven't poured more development into that and highlighted it is a mystery as well. @@GW2Pseudo

I would've preferred a GW3 as well. GW2 ran its course story and content wise. The game has become too bloated with mixing of old and new systems. Balances are too out of whack and the availability of boons/heals/dps trivializes almost all content now. There's also just too much in the game that it overwhelms new players. Unfortunately ncsoft went all in on a failed new MMO called throne & liberty so I'm unsure how willing they are to make such an investment into another new MMO because risk/reward is too high. Milking GW2 for all its worth is much cheaper and more profitable, just look at their quarterly earnings reports and you'll see why they'll drag it until death. I do agree though these mini expansions and mini content drops aren't enough for me to log in

Are you guys aware how much work and time an MMO needs to be made? As pseudo mentioned above ArenaNet is not a huge team. I think it's borderline impossible for them to even think of such an endeavor, while maintaining gw2, especially with ncsoft releasing another mmo in the foreseeable future for better or worse. What bothers me is that I've seen quite a few people of hyping up/asking for gw3 when it's the furthest thing from possible in reality. It's very much possible on the other hand, to rework things in the current game so do your best to offer your suggestions and feedback in places where developers might view them. Slowly updating assets, graphical changes, gameplay system changes and all sorts of other things are doable.

Is it dead? No. Is it in an amazing state? No. They laid off a bunch of people to raise their profits temporarily by 15% but overall people are still buying stuff in the gem store at a high rate so they can basically put the game in maint mode and milk the dedicated players until it dies. That's basically what bungie did to destiny 2.
