One thing I love is that you never fall behind if you take a break, with a game like WoW if you stop playing and come back you will have a ton of WORK to grind through before you can...well grind competitively to stay competitive. GW2 is just way more chill, there is no constant grind, you just do what you want.
@LenKd889 ай бұрын
the only grind in the game is grinding gold for the legendary stuff and some other shinny stuffs. Fashion wars after all.

An amazing game. I started mmos with Runescape (2007). Then I got into World Of Warcraft. Best mmo I thought there ever was and acutally sadly soured my taste for other mmos. (everything had to be the same in quality : dungeons, loots, raid, pvp, open world). It is no wonder why there were so many wow clones which failed to take down this mmo. Guild Wars 2 is the only MMO I have tried which feels like an evolution of MMOs in general. Maybe lack of content back in 2012 and level scaling scared me away but I regret not starting this sooner. You got to have an open mind about what horizontal progression is. Guild Wars 2 is better than WoW at the moment. At least for me.

Gw2's story is outstanding. I've played different mmos before but I've never seen any of them has a good story like gw2

tbh, i regret speedrunning my skyscale in my 15th day on the game. I should have savor the story first (from core to EoD) and talk to all npc inside of the story and accept the fate of getting lost in the world of tyria because of the events that's suddenly popup.

Yep. I have been playing GW2 since beta and, for fun, I just spent the last three hours helping random players with Tier 1 and 2 fractals. Had a great time. :)

This video explains exactly how I feel about gw2, from the design promoting interaction (I still fondly remember the conversations I had with some people more then the usual meta) to the people burned from achieving long term goals in just months, it really has it all, well done. A small note: I think also that gw2 is best appreciated if approached with an open mind and a laid back attitude after playing other more classical mmos, but unfortunately some people just end up "passing" through the game cause they never properly adjust to the horizontal progression and incredibly to interactions with other players.

I got my wife to play guild wars 2 with me after we got married 5 years ago. We played through all the story, enjoyed pvp thoroughly and obtained several legendary gear. It has been 2 years since we stopped playing, yes we sometimes we do miss the world of Tyria. But we know we can always come back whenever we have time and feel like it. Maybe on the next expansion release.
@lostpotato83636 ай бұрын
What you said about long term goals is so true. I had rushed crafting 2 legendaries at the same time outside of everything else I was doing daily including grinding masteries which inevitably resulted in me getting burned out and taking a 5 months break. I since really learned to take my time and enjoy the journey and it’s so much fun this way, just setting up long term goals and getting a nice serotonin buff everytime something ticks off the list organically

This was a very well written review. I couldn't agree more every point you made was spot on. The mmo aspect is the best part of the game. After I got a commander tag, my favourite part of the game was leading meta events as best as I could and making sure everyone was having a good time. The gratitude from people in my squad was very satisfying and the gratefulness made me work harder at it. I have never seen a game bring together a community as good as guild wars 2 does. To top it off the combat is very fluid and incredibly fun. I tried world of warcraft once and the combat felt increibly stiff because you had to stop moving when you performed your skill. In gw2 you can move around while performing your skills, which makes PvP very fun. With all the activities within the game from metas, to fractals, to raids, it's always a fun time.

My suggestion to players considering playing GW2 is, if you are addicted to gear progression, or don’t enjoy exploration, lore and story content, then you probably shouldn’t waste your time trying out GW2. It’s free to try and you can get a lot of hours of gameplay before you need to buy the expansions, so if you’re on the fence and not sure if you will enjoy it or not, it won’t cost anything but some of your time to find out.

Excellent Video. Would recommend GW2 to everyone. It's the MMORPG that respects your time more than any other, It's the easiest pick up and play, there's no sub fees and best of all there's no vertical progression or Fomo. GW2 focuses on the 'MMO' in MMORPG more than anything else, which is why I always have GW2 as one of my main games to always play.

Really like the video! Just respectfully adding my 2 cents, while I want to mention that someone told me, this game has very much changed since it´s beginning. I would very much like a video about these as well as the skills now are different? As for me: I really liked the first part for over 7 years of my childhood, preordered the second part and couldn´t fall in love with it again. The MAIN differentiator between 1 and 2 is (or was?) the game play structure. In Gw1, teamplay was crucial. In Gw2, the focus is much more on individual play. For me personally, GW2 is just too flashy, too complicated with the effects, the items, the skills. GW1 had armor, damage potential and skill cap. In GW2, I was completely lost with the stats in armor, aaaaaalll the lenghty texts, the jewelry, the naming for certain stats which are probably still vague... Also there was nothing that makes me feel like "wow, that was me? Damn, what a nice combo". I just noticed this again in your video when you beam to an enemy, unleash a combo, something flashes, some numbers, fight over. In Boss fights, it´s the exact opposide, there is no real "impact" of the skills that take forever to study. In GW1, you immediately notice when the elementalist casts his meteor, an assassin unsleashes his final attack or a warrior is severely crippling an enemy. One of my most epic and favorite stories is when I was a monk, the whole group was dead and with an absolut crazy run I ressurected one by one, making the run a success. In GW2, there is none of that as I feel it. The conversational part was exactly the same in GW1, there were parties at the Shing Jea Monastery that went for hours. So it´s not exclusive to GW2 I would say. But I really disliked the addition of mountables in the game. I felt like this is really something you "have to" get, if you want to truly share the full experience that GW2 offers. With all this, I really get why people love this game, even more than 10 years after its release. So I´m now definitely watching your video on how you finally enjoyed the game!

Amazing video, made me want to redownload after years. Great analysis of the game, albeit I do disagree on one front. I think GW2 definitely has a competitive side if you seek it out - I spent 4.5k hours on the game, and maybe 3k of those raiding. There were plenty of competitive aspects such as raid league or high level PvP. This furthers what the game already offers, and imo it's genuinely the perfect MMO.

3:30 a suggestion for thext time, show more of the dynamic parts, like when they jump off or lands. These looks very static as a bystander Also, avoid showing the stuff like trails addon without context. a small note for the 5:23 part, many buffs are AoE, and multiple people are required to gain larger stacks of buffs that contributes MASSIVELY to the DPS, defence and health. Great video, that touches on most points of why I have stuck with this one for 12 years

I second ozono27's reply, especially Necromancer as a suggestion for new players. The Reaper (Necro's elite specialization) is really easy and satisfying to play.

Necro is the easiest to just face roll through content. Ranger, in my opinion, is the prefect roleplay choice (mounts/pet collection/general exploration) as well as being relatively easy to get through content. (Pet tanking/ranged builds)

I would normally agree with most of what u said but this latest expan has me feeling different, many "new" enemies from soto are just reskins, combat is just rerolled from previous mechanics we had from the other expan bosses and raid bosses, events are the exact same as the last 2 expan with no innovation; and can be categorized into basically 3 different events, kill all mobs/champ, capture the flag, escort, it absolutely is uninspiring reused boring content with new legendries just remodeled nostalgia locked behind a really rough grind, and i don't mind grinding, I don't even mind the new legendary set is just member berries cause it looks so good. However, when much of said content comes from 1 activity after a brief ok story, that is tedious and incredibly boring (rifts) and nearly every promise that anet has said we were going to get involving new content/maps/mechanics have fallen so short from what was promised its hard to agree that any of it is even worth putting any more time and effort into the game the only things that I can say I am absolutely amazed about this expan are things that have been a problem and complained about on the forums for over decade now and thought would never happen do to how long it took to change (weapons no longer being tied to elite specialization, and warriors finally got a melee staff being the 2 largest ones for me) which is the only reason I'll stick around and hop back in from time to time since it shows they are capable of doing good things, but the ridiculous time gates that have gotten worse absolutely need to stop. That's coming from someone who has put on over 8000 hours and several grand into the game now

@@StickofTrue think about what you just wrote and try to use some logic in your argument instead of just being a stan and going "you no like game, go play worse game", it helps neither the community, the game get better, nor your ability to give constructive criticism, but yes... i am indeed playing a game i feel is currently more enjoyable then the game in the state that it is at the level that i was playing it
@vidya21449 ай бұрын
yea.. but it's a kiddy sandbox the MMO. What's the point of having these awesome big-scale fights if basically you can't fail them? The only one that was close to giving the playerbase actual challenge was Su-won and it got nerfed cause of thin-skinned crybabies that make up the loud majority of this game. The novelty gets old quick. That said, it's one of the only MMOs that respects your time, and the world building is great (minus the story), so I find myself keep playing it.
@FlowerBot9 ай бұрын
PVE bosses are definitely still failable, if you don't end up in a map with a good commander and people who know what they're doing - but its one of the good design elements of the game that there are most often people around who make you think its easier than it is.
@Mars-19959 ай бұрын
And apart from what flower said, open world bosses are really not the hardest content the game has to offer. Meta events, fractals, strikemissions, raids...
