Umajunkcollector, The correct meaning of CED is CAPACITANCE ELECTRONIC DISC, not CAPACITIVE ELECTROSTATIC DISCHARGE. Because it is the trademark of RCA, known as SelectaVision.

+Andy Pandy cool. I bought about 50 disks at a garage sale for a few dollars about 4 yrs. ago. Just yesterday a guy on CL was giving this first selectavision away. I got it with a new stylus and a stylus in the unit plus about 10 more disks! FREE! Sometimes waiting does pay off. :0 It works to. I think a little cleaning and it will be perfect. Finally get to watch all these disks on my 48" lcd. Do you have any tips on what to watch out for with these units?

CED Players were only manufactured from 1981 - 1984. The first model they are talking about was the first ever CED player, Model SFT 100 W
