You know, I see this trope so many times, the old chestnut of 'Oh, you're blowing things out of proportion, you're just being paranoid!' and it's one of those story things that if it's done with a solid explanation, it feels genuinely good, and increases the tension of the already tense situation, but if it has literally no explanation, it's one of the most annoying things ever. Like this example here, without an explanation, it is one of the worst parts of the movie, that she won't even try to listen to her husband's concerns, no matter how far they escalate, but with an explanation, it could've been fantastic. For example, say we have the movie, for the most part, flow the same way it does, with her constantly blowing off her husband's concerns and constantly being friendly to the insane man in question. But near the end, we have a scene of the husband finally giving up on convincing his wife and trying to call the police, and she violently bashes him over the head, perhaps over and over and over again. Have the reveal that she was on the crazy guys side the entire time and that's why she couldn't be convinced, maybe cause she knew him in the past, or maybe that his insanity sparked her own violent tendencies that she'd mitigated up to this point with therapy and meds. Just anything other than the basics, really.

One of the most exasperating things in this movie was that she didn't immediately call her husband and the police after she charmed Charlie into leaving the house after he initially jumped on her during that kitchen scene. Nope...she thought it better to wander upstairs, fall down the trap door, etc...

I really wish this movie had done a turn at the end with Korey's transformation idea. I would have been out the door asap to see this movie on an appropriately gigantic screen. As it is full of tropes and people who do not believe in walking away from real estate, I will wait until it hits Netflix. I will have the capability of fast-forwarding to the parts where Dennis Quaid is emoting gloriously.

First time i saw the trailer, the plot was very familiar. This is a loose remake of Cold Creek Manor(2003), which also starred Dennis Quaid and was taken more seriously. This new version seems more outlandish than the original. Looks like Dennis Quaid is just having fun being crazy.

It's so weird seeing Dennis Quaid like this, I saw Dreamscape recently and you'd think that was an early role for Harrison Ford, he's charismatic, really likeable, and was fucking hot as hell. What happened man. I get he's older but still. The wife in these suburban thrillers are always either so clueless and gullible she's dumber than a child and pissing the husband off constantly, or so instantly paranoid and high strung the husband thinks she's a complete lunatic and won't listen to her. The couples are always ridiculous.
