Cynical Lawman But he might not remember all that he's had to drink, or when he's had them so he would just say he doesn't know. He might not know how much alcohol content is in the drinks either. A breathalyzer is just a tool to see how much blood alcohol content there is in his system at that exact moment. He couldn't just know that and neither could the cop, so he has to see if he is in fact over the legal limit at that particular time, so it would still be necessary.

@TheSquareOnes2 жыл бұрын
I don't think the writers "missed" that, it's just clear that there's more going on in the setting than just "people can't lie." Where the line is drawn is extremely fuzzy but you don't need the precise details any more than you need to know exactly how magic works in order to accept a wizard throwing fireballs around, it's a fictional setting that mostly exists to portray something cool or interesting for entertainment rather than to explore the implications of a very carefully constructed thought experiment. People volunteering sensitive information works much better in a comedy than everyone being as terse as possible all the time so they don't accidentally say too much.
