The internet is a wondrous thing in many ways. Back in the early '70s Hallmark Hall of Fame had a program on TV that was set in Ireland. I only saw it once, but this song was in it. I could remember the melody and only the lyrics "fair colleen...the County Down". That's it. Couldn't remember what the Hall of Fame story was about anymore, but the song was stuck in my head for the last 45 years. Tonight, for whatever reason, I decided to do yet another search to try and pin down that song. And I found it :-). Now it is an "ear worm" and I probably won't be able to get it out of my head for the next two weeks. But that's okay. I have loved this song for almost a half century - when I didn't even know what song it was!

The music in here in Ireland is great I will admit that, even Metallica likes it. But the places here are actually quite nice as when you go to the curragh seeing all of the green hills especially in the evening when the sun goes down it is a sight to behold. When the sun descends it's a really beautiful thing to see. Be the same in glendalough as well.

@ryanknowstecmobowl 1. It's funny you mention that because I'm Orthodox, the original church Rome broke from, and Ireland was free and Orthodox before the Norman invasion enforced Papal control. It's true! The Schism didn't affect the British Isles until 1066. 2. Being a tributary of the EU, a foreign bureaucracy, is not quite freedom as forefathers imagined it. Not to mention now women can kill their unborn children. St. Patrick pray for us!
