I think Marty had problems finding funding for the movie , because of the age of the main actors. They're way too old. This is a movie that should have been made 25years ago.

Spike Lee is great friends with Scorsese. Scorsese was one of Spike's teachers and a mentor to him over the years. They worked together on "Clockers", with Scorsese producing and Spike directing and Harvey Keitel starring. Spike has always spoken of being a massive Scorsese fan. Nothing 'PC' about it. He knows all those guys.
