I mean, I don't read much comics but killing off a long standing beloved "white male" character to replace him with a black teenage version of him does seem the kind of moves "SJW" would pull. Now I can't claim for a certainty that that was the reason for the character's genesis but I can see why some people would see it that way and I've heard some pretty well constructed arguments about it. The way you present those complaints seem very defensive and disingenuous to me. Your kind of behaving like you accused them of behaving. That said, I'd love to hear your more elaborated take on those arguments. Like I said, I don't read much comics, I mostly just watch the Comics Explained channel, so I have no way to know how informed those opinions are. She did kind of in Black Panther 2 but I won't hold that against her, everyone kinda sucked in that movie. I'm so sorry Namor, you deserved better.

@@h0ll0w0ne Tony did not die. She was even introduced before he entered a coma. She did replace Iron Man in the main Iron Man comic run for about a year and a half but this isn’t anything new. As mentioned in the video Rhode took over as Iron Man and replaced Tony for two entire years in the 80s and again for a few months. Hell Tony didn’t even really go away, again as mentioned, his AI counterpart was a regular part of the series. Ironheart isn’t Tony Stark or a replacement for him. She never was. Did they introduce her in a poor way? Yeah I’d argue they did. Regardless of all of this if you hate a character because “she woke” you’re dumb

One small thing you got wrong on the Civil War bit is that you don’t actually need to reveal you identity to the public just register to the government. Spider-Man only did that to show his initial support for the act. But it is a very common misconception on the internet.

I think a Daredevil iceberg would be fun (and if you do end up making one please include Death-Stalker, he's a forgotten villain from the 70s but he has such a cool design and powers that I'm shocked he hasn't been revived in the almost 45 years since he was killed off, outside of a brief return in a one-shot crossover with Captain America and a female version only appearing in the Villains For Hire miniseries), also as someone who grew up with my dad's Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe issues from the 80s it's fun already knowing about some of these obscure characters.

A possible alternative to the Iron Man nose is that Stan was critiquing a newer artist's profile of Iron Man. Saying his face was way too close to the face plate which would not leave room for a nose or anything..or at least that's what he intended to say when asking "where's his nose?" Implying this new faceplate would be cutting it off

I really hope the MCU incorporates Iron Lad soon since they’ve already introduced Rama-Tut, Scarlet Centurion and Immortus. He’s one of my favorite characters in Marvel and actually a really tragic and sympathetic one at that. He’s just an adolescent who just trying to advert his fate, but has to accept it.

3:36 I loved this version of crimson dynamo as it was one of the first opponents tony had to push his only armour to its limits as he had to protect the Pegasus leader who caused dynamo to go lunatic and Demented in the first place by stranding him on the surface of the sun for years . If dynamos wife and child didn’t show up at the end then tony would have died. I still remember that scene where the dynamo crushed Ironman to the ground. The choreography was crazy

I'm surprised you didn't talk about the time Iron Man's armor was hacked, taking over his mind & morphed Tony's body into Ultron-19 in the form of Janet for a few issues. Pretty crazy story with a fun gag they did with him after he was returned to normal. Or that time during the Darkhold run where it explored a dark alternate universe where Tony turns mad & his flesh is literally consumed & replaced with his suit. That was some heavy nightmare fuel.

I had no idea Rhodey wears 3 different suits in Endgame, the dark colouring of that final battle rlly does mute a lot of the colours which kinda sucks, I understand it from a VFX standpoint but if the just gave them an extra few months to make that fight look like its actually set during the day that would've been nice hell I'd even take a special edition Star Wars style if it meant the vfx artists get to go back and spend time polishing up the CGI, lighting etc

Alright, I’ve seen these comments before, and although I was born in 2003, can you put this “Iron Man’s lack of popularity” into perspective? I mean, from what I can gather, he had a two-season cartoon hosted on Fox Kids, a 2007 animated movie, the Civil War storyline, a decent rogues gallery, and some of the coolest brains and tech in all of comic book fiction. Sadly, by the time I was fully aware of Iron Man, the movie had already been a hit, so I could never experience any Iron Man stuff before 2008, his breakout year. But yeah, I’d like to know how barren he really was in the grand scheme of things regarding his popularity and how Marvel used him.

The thing about Ironheart is she could be so much more. So much of a stronger character...but the writers pissed away so much of her potential. There was no real vision for her as a character and how she could fit into the world of Iron man. This could be Tony's actual apprentice...which would be a very cool direction. She could be the ONE person Tony ends up trusting with his tech and effectively the technological bleeding edge of the future should anything happen to him. There was always tons of story potential there and I just don't think they quite see it.

I'm just waiting for Tony in a comic line to build a Universe Buster armor that acts as a vacuum and sucks everything up in the universe into his suit and afterwards he just standing in a white nothing background like Bugs Bunny or Daffy Duck in those Looney Tunes shorts and he's like "Finally, Peace" and just sits in the nothing white background. While there were a small subset of people that probably hated riri Williams because she was black, that's not the main reason she was so hated, if that's true, then miles morales should be just as hated, anyway it's most likely because they flat out replaced Tony stark with some random new character they created only roughly a year earlier who was far less popular, they gave her his series, his role, his armour, tbh I fully understand why those people were mad, I personally feel they should have just given her a solo title of her own, that way she can build a story for herself instead of just hijacking someone else's. After all they did the same thing when the classic ironman was replaced by his younger self when Tony turned evil, just think about it, tony stark was basically changed drastically and so a far younger child prodigy character with a very weird armour design of their own was brought in to replace them as the new ironman, and that wasnt popular either, although at least with the teenage ironman, it was just a younger version of himself replacing him, and not random character with mo affiliation to tony stark, so no, most of the criticism levied again riri Williams was not from racism, it's because people have a pretty emotional attachment to ironman and didn't like seeing them replaced. Also before anyone tries call this a hate comment, it's not, it's just me expressing my opinion on the whole iron heart situation, I feel a lot of people were labeled racist for not liking iron heart simply because that's what the media usually does when a diverse character isn't warmly recieved

2:18:42 this was an experiment in using POSER®️ software to make comics; POSER®️ was first OTC 3D software that could be easily used create and pose 3D figures/characters; it’s been popular with hobbyists for over 2 decades; for the first few issues, it was used to create character models and panel layouts, which were then drawn over; for the last few issues, it was used almost exclusively to create fully rendered panels; this is why the books look so radically different; as someone who has been using the software regularly since before the books were published, I have to agree that the work looks rushed, even by the standards of the time…
