Thanks bro! Yeah I took it on a first drive today to do some road tuning. It feels way better than with the FIC! Night and day. Still making the same boost as before but I swear this sucker is strong! It’s far more smoother and the computer reacts much quicker to my throttle inputs and it holds rock solid AFR/lambda targets. Can’t wait to go manual to get rid of the electronic TB. I need to install a throttle lock though. Do you have one?

This made me re-think of my plan to use a piggyback first (CC and Traction are important to me) and later go full standalone. Ill probably go standalone immediately and figure out the CC and TRC later.
@Knownworldwide
@Knownworldwide 11 ай бұрын
Well really what it comes down to is cost. I paid $250 for my piggyback when I first installed the turbo kit. It worked ok for the overall picture. However after some time it starts doing odd things and needs to be reset. Fuel trims start to get out of hand and it can be frustrating to deal with. If you car is automatic, I would definitely suggest going with the EMU black or the Link setup for sure. A pit pricey but you can find used units sometimes for a good deal. Thanks for watching! I hope you decide to stick around for the long run!

@@Knownworldwide I have a manual swap done already and on the stock ATM ECU (I got CC working too). The kit I am starting to install already came with a piggy(DET 3). I also already have an EMU Black(that I might use on anohter car too). So I was initially thinking that for the ease of setup to go with the piggy (to retain the factory stuff without majour issues) It is my winter beater lol. But yea, seems to make sense to go with emu from the get go even though Ill have to get something else for the other car later on($$$).

@@mardicas A buddy of mine was trying to get his DET3 up and running on his is300. He has been running the FIC for 3 years and while it has been working. He hates that he has to basically reset the thing every 4 months because it starts acting weird. He also has a EMU black that he picked up for cheap. He tried the DET3 but he told me he was gonna go with the emu due to ease of operation. Either should work fine I would think.

@@Knownworldwide It really seems EMU Black has it figured out. I wish the plug n play harness was cheaper. With shipping and import tax it will cost the same as an emu black itself lol. And it seems to be an US product only.

@@husband_thingsThey are based in Texas. I would say that you could look into the Link setup but that setup is usually around $500 more on average. My buddy picked up a used EMU black for around $750 and it came with the PNP harness too. If you're not in a rush then maybe that would be the best option.

Nice video! The fic6 was on my car when I bought it and I kept messing around with it and it would revert back as you were saying. I'm more familiar with haltech and autronic engine managements, I've never liked anything aem. I've got haltech on mine and I made my own parallel harness. Good job on keeping that aem wideband away from your engine management lol, the signal is slow from the sensor to the gauge and then to the ECU, there's too much processing between the sensor and the ECU for it to be a usable signal. Aem is horrible, most of their products are low grade. They're great for gauges, but I'd never let it control my engine

I just have mine tucked up behind the shock tower near the brake master cylinder. I posted it up on the forum. It’s not ideal but it zip tied up and it’s pretty damn durable if you ask me. There is also an ECU temp monitor within the software. I will move it but it won’t be for awhile. I wish the made the wiring harness longer to at least reach into the cabin but oh well. The plug and play adapter does fit in the ECU box but with some creativity. Also there is no way you can fully screw the bolts back down. Mine are like halfway screwed down. The adapter is just too big.

Thats odd. I wonder if the throttle blade/cable is dirty with carbon or something and if you let off quick it pushes past it if that makes sense. I know these have weird throttle bodies but I'm sure you'll know what I mean. Picking one up Saturday and wanna put a turbo on potentially but saw people doing the stock ECU and/or piggy back fuel/spark controller route and from someone with a Holley dominator on my 04 TT cobra it seemed very risky in my opinion with stock ecu. Then the piggy back seemed iffy because I really don't want a bunch of lights on on the dash. The black seems sick. Plug in and you got a standalone that retains all stock functions. At least I assume, unless you've noticed something else. @@Knownworldwide

@@landonphillips7013 Nope doesn’t stick or anything. I double checked that. Not sure if you have checked out the channel in full yet but I did come from an AEM FIC/6 which is a piggyback fuel and ignition controller. It worked majority of the time and it’s what people have been using on these cars since they came out in the early 2000s, the Greddy emanage was also used. Stock computers actually worked when going WOT since it is just open loop pre determined amount of fueling and for the 4-5psi of boost most would run, AFRs would stay around 12-12.3 which is fine. I have never run this thing with the stock computer. Coming from the dominator, you should feel right at home with the emu black. Only difference maybe the VE table tuning instead of AFR targets. I also am familiar with the Dominator. Have just installed and tuned one on my buddies camaro. You may also want to look into Link ECU. That and the EMU are the only comps with stand alones that allow full factory gauge and HVAC functionality.

What exactly did you do with your o2 sensors and MAF sensor. I fitted my o2 sensors back into my downpipe except one, the bank 1 sensor 2. And as for my MAF sensor with it plugged in my car idles for about 2 seconds then shuts off, without it, it idles perfectly but starts to back fire at 3k rpms. Any help on this? Keep up the videos man, very helpful.

@Knownworldwide
@Knownworldwide 11 ай бұрын
@craziidevil4641 so if you are on the stock ECU you are going to have to clamp the MAF to a certain voltage. Otherwise you will continue to get MAF codes out of range and the car won’t rev past 3k As far as the O2 sensors, just put bank 1 and bank 2 UPSTREAM sensors into the CX down pipe. Leave the down stream sensors plugged in and zip tied up somewhere OR just unplug them completely OR buy O2 emulators (Karl long on FB used to make them) Your main problem is going to be the MAF sensor. You need to use a zener diode to clamp the MAF signal going to the ECU so that it doesn’t see voltage past 5v
