Yeahhh it really is riding on the devs to show that yes they can get what they’ve promised out in less than a decade and get it out in a reasonable time frame! The devs currentl plan for dinosaurs is to release them in waves with the first being 7 troodon, beipi, cerato, galli, dibble, dilo, n herra! And update 6.5 is already bringing three of them in already! So for the devs to show that they will be able to get out there 70 something playables sooner than later! They will need to release the other half or at least 3 more by the end of the year!

It’s already a bigger success than any of its competitors. These guys (including dondi) literally invented the entire genre. It’s been dondi pushing the game forward. He was the one who decided to do the rework and make the isle the best it could be. They could’ve dropped it with legacy as that was a fulfillment of the go fund me. They released the game with all the dinosaurs and mechanics they said they would. They could’ve took the cash and moved on guilt free. But they decided they could do way better so started from scratch. Im thankful. The games dope AF and blows POT and BOB out of the water. There’s deep complex mechanics and behaviors you can do in the isle. Literally nothing even remotely similar on BOB or POT. POT literally has a croc that can’t grab anything and instead has to mash bite a dozen times to drain the health bar of its prey till the prey tips over dead with a bad animation. The isle has true-to-life full on gators snatching prey from the river banks like a real gator then drowning it and now with gore, shredding the prey. The raptors in TI pounce and bleed their prey. Animals actually break bones with location accurate damage. Animals have complex diets and herbivores have to dig up roots, knock down coconuts etc.. animals can get impaled on spikes, theyr bodies slowly rot leaving behind bones, there’s the most complex and detailed nesting mechanics with feeding mechanics, the best skin customization by far that keeps the skins realistic whilst still having tons of complexity, there’s actually free roaming AI, a unique skimming fishing mechanic for pteranodon, there’s spitting attacks, venoms coming next etc… BOB and POT has none of this. Their raptors just mash bite over and over until the other model tips over dead. Their herbivores just chew the air around generic bushes. Theyr pteranodon just swims around in the ocean grabbing stiff fish the size of trucks, there’s no proper venom mechanics and it’s just an adjusted savage stat etc.. It’s insane people try comparing these games. The isle is on another level entirely. Maybe BOB and POT will catch up at some point in the future. But they aren’t even in the sane universe, currently. And I don’t say this to attack the other games. I own them all. But facts are facts. The isle is undeniably their superior in almost every way besides number of playables. But just having a bunch of skin-swap playables with no unique mechanics isn’t exactly great.

all 3 dinos seem like great additions. troodon seems to be a very good opportunistic hunter that could take on smaller dinos like bepi solo, and big ones like maybe cerato in a group. cerato would be a fear-inspiring bruiser, capapble of taking on some tough creatures, and bepi would be a great addition to the river life.

@@hpjive Fatal errors could happen and sometimes if you think the code or the whole colums are fix you may see some issues with it and when you try to test it, sometimes just does not work and makes other stuff bugged too. The problem with game development is you need to do something, figure it, then figure it how to add to the puzzle without break an existing puzzle. I am not defending them for being slow in the process and I know certain developers from other game studios whom tend to ignore problems but those devs are not as talented or just have no time to fix because sheldues exists.

While i am so excited to see 3 new playables enter the game, its not because i am going to play them, but because the servers i play on wont be jampacked with everyone playing Deino anymore. As someone who exclusively plays Deinosuchus, i could never enjoy the thing because there is 50+ other people also playing Deino all over the riverways, side by side. Deino and Isla Spiro were NOT designed with an overabundance of players using them in mind, but because the majority of casuals pick it due to it being the strongest carnivore in the game, you are forced to see every server packed with them. Deinos whole playstyle relies on fooling prey into thinking no-one is there under the water, and with so many deinos constantly being played, other species just expect all water sources to be occupied, therefor ruining the chances of a successful hunt. Finally because of the lack of success eating land based prey, the Deinos then have to result to an overwhelming amount of cannibalism to survive, which ultimately makes for a very unfun experience when its all Deinos can do. While TI is supposed to be scary and tough on you, it does this for all the wrong reasons, and overplaying a single species is just one way of this happening. Anyways my point to all this is, these 3 playables literally change the entire game around. They improve everything about what was stale with TI, and it finally gives me some breathing room to enjoy doing what i do best. The meta for the Stego and Carno dilemma also gets altered because now, cause Carno and Stego have worthwhile foes to fight against finally. Even at the core, more playables adds more life to the game literally about life. I believe we are on the turning point of TI becoming something truly special and engaging, starting with these 3 bois. We just need to hold out a few more months. We got this lads.

Once Gigas and T-Rex appears possible the current meta will change forever but the amount of dinos the legacy had (more as an AI) could indicate the game should be more balanced because there are many choices. Design wise the devs need to see what is their most popular picks and try to balance it otherwise one choice will be always the best one. I see two option here, either increase the server population to 300-500 on each server, add +10 more too for each region (once the game become more popular) or add different dinos to the waterside like other croc species or spinosaurus even some kind of shark and sea lizards to make the deinos as a forced choice. The Deino is with all good diet grows slow and need a lot of time to get those tons to be a fearful option, once I tried to play on eu5 with it and 3 youngster deino attacked me on sight just right after I spawned. Managed to survive but it was a painful experience and needed to go to a deadwater area to avoid them. The main source of food for young age is the fish but there need more type of food sources that a Deino can eat without eat the other one. Deer-Boars are not often cross the water unless some player aggro them into. In my opinion a larger server and addition of other animals could solve the diet issues to Deinos but still it will be a popular choice because it is strong and unrivalled in water. Until some creature appears there and have the same size and strength.

I play a deino aswell, just not for the reasons you mention, i play it because my food meter doesnt drain empty every 10 minutes, plus its nice and casual since your the only thing that can survive in water, while if you play a landbased creature your always on the run carefull not to get hunted by the big groups or older things around

The three new playables will definitely change the games ecosystem and I hope for the better. Honestly either the devs optimize the game and increase the server pop to 150 to 200. Or we might need a cap for some dinos on the severs like only 20 Deinos allowed in a server although this should be an option for server owners to make. Cause same I see too many deinos in one river alone. 100 people in 1 server is not enough. honestly 250 should be the new universal server pop just because I don't see anyone for hours at times.

It could help a bit and probably makes the annoyed and angry fans a bit happier. I would say the only game changer thing would be if they fix the engine by upgrading, making the netcode better and increase the server population too. Any new mechanics and dino addition is a good sign from the devs to show they care about their fans and not overpromising things. I am not defend or bash them here because I know developing a game can be a mess, communication is a key factor to tell the fans that you work on the game but often larger studios have very weak communication and the fans often get mad cuz of this. I waited so many years for a lot of games so I know what means wait for a game and not too rare I waited 10-15 year for a game or a sequel and the end roughly 40-60% was okay or bad experiences. This still not mean they have an excuse for not speed up the progress but what is happening in the office (if they work in an office) is the usual like in every work place just they sit front of a monitor and type codes, debug, making animations textures and trying to put things into the game while they have their social issues and issues with the leadership.

Don't hold your hopes up for more then 100/120 players, UE5 might help with graphical performance (potatos rip) but making a game with more then 100 players seams to be down to server performance and bandwidth that "one server" can handle. In the future server technology might change, but that will more likely be a big engine upgrade, then a small team developing the new needed technology. For reference Star Citizen with 100x the money and 100x developers have the same player count.

@@kichmadev Partly agree with you but the server technology what needs for this is exists also constantly improved but the real issue beyond the lag is the quality of the servers and what kind of servers they rent. For instance WoW have 1000-2000 people servers and EVE online have few great servers with lot of players but they invested time, money and effort to make it viable and these games are close to 20 year in the EVE's case it is 20. The more server and increased server capacity is depends on the provider too because it is costly. Simply because it is 24 hour run time and maintaince time to time needed and it costs a lot especially when we have this global energy situation but otherwise there are affordable servers but I guess Valve could provide them more server slots (if they rent from Valve) if not then they have either an inhouse server park with few servers or rent from other provider. The technology constantly improving and 25 years ago also dreamed for 100+ players in video games and each 5 year got this similar answer what you wrote to me. Well, time is passed and the lag for me in the Isle is not drastical because I play anyway in local servers. The major issue for me currently the fps because too many greens exist in the same time on the screen and hopefully UE5.1 will handle well. The server side is more or less is about how strong server they use and how many. Star Citizen is a long project and not seem to be too useful right now however some people said it is playable on that level where the game is now.

I don't think comparing it to WOW is fair or changes my argument, here's why: 1. 1000-2000 people per server is a gimmick its not a real thing, if you dig a bit deeper that means 200 people "per shard". These "shards" are how many people can be on the screen at the same time. Other way of calling it what it is, its 200 players per server. 2. How can they have 200 and we can have only 100 one might ask, well that is because WOW sends less data per action. It doesn't send position of the player and rotation of their camera as often as the isle does and thus can they have more players. This type of reduction of data is only possible because its an MMO, the same thing can't be done for this game. 3. WOW is a powerhouse of best coders in the world, the isle is 2-3 coders. Wow can afford to have a "lag specialist" is all that I am saying, the isle devs have to first invest time to learn why its happening and do that in between other pressing tasks. Don't know anything about how EVE does it, but I suspect something similar. Of course I agree with you that the Isle is laggy and can be better in any given aspect. Hopefully it can improve on the lag front, but again that wouldn't mean 200 players are now possible, it would mean 100 players can play more smoothly.

I just hope the tech level will be able to represent massive battles and populations on servers otherwise the game is deadboring without some action. This might sound like a silly question, but how will the new effects (lighting or otherwise) added in UE5 affect performance? The Isle already runs like a snail in molasses, and if UE5 is adding all these effects I worry about another performance drop which is what would kill the game for me personally. I can tolerate most things that happen to this game because I enjoy messing around as a dinosaur but if the game doesn't run well that's a big gameplay detractor.

Im pretty sure we will get UE5 with Gateway. It makes no sense for them to transition a map to a new engine when it gets dumped one update later. I also feel like I remember the devs stating something along those lines but I´m not sure on that. So I doubt we will see UE5 before U7. And yea, I am excited for the new playables, but at the same time Im wary of the isles update history. Sure playables are nice, doesn´t help when half the game is a broken mess though. And since they for some reason refuse to do patches or hotfixes we would be stuck with the game in that state for half a year or longer. So I really REALLY hope they get proper stresstesting done and deliver an update that leaves the game in a playable state.

If you are struggling to run the game now, you might actually get better performance with UE5, UE5 is supposed to not only look better, but PERFORM better without sacrificing graphics. You should see better fps when it releases.

IMO some older systems will have problems running it, yes nanite and lumen work on older setups, but how well will it work on older systems comes down to a lot things. Possible bottlenecks - weaker CPUs might struggle with new tech, and your VRAM will determine how much texture resolution can you run. The new map might actually help the most there, from what I've seen it seams to be optimized in terms of scene complexity.
