I absolutely love my 48v i2000. Baby is pumping serious power. Max is little over 43. Amps on a midnite classic 250v. Absolutely love my wind curve for this now. Word of advice 16 segments in the classic all first 8 is lower amps and the next higher amps for low and high winds speeds and set to a maximum voltage of 152.2 start by subtracting 51 volts and then divide by 16 and this is how you get a very good wind curve. I found this is what insta breeze starts testing at based on full battery. Also found that at 7 to 9 mph straight winds this turbine starts up and my 48v system voltage full is 56.5 so this is why for the late response. But noticed at 10 mph 1 amp 12 mph 2 amps so on until 15 mph straight wind hit 16 to 18 amps and this is where the ista breeze begins to show it's true color of power. At 34 to 45 straight wind hit pretty straight 43 amps. Have my turbine to start slow before 44 so begins brake a little and anything beyond that it can't do because my second dump comes in and then it's dumping on the ac side with a 3 pole solid state relay to a diy wound to spec to slow the turbine back down to about 35 mph max and if that doesn't slow it down my 3 Rd brake comes in dumping 2500 watts ac side. As far as my batts ever over charging good luck 😂 I now have over 70 kwh. So no worries their. Just the speed was my worry 🙂 Hope this helps for mppt guys out their.

Hey! be careful with this windsafe i2000 i have one like it! it can handle absolutely no more than a maximum of 16 m / s then it blew apart. the blades are too close to the tube so they blew apart, 2 sets of blades have broken in this way. I had to rebuild it! has moved the generator more from the center.

Hey I REALLY appreciate the warning! I'll have the thing on a mock pole for testing and I'll definitely check clearance before it goes up into real use.

also heres something interesting,,,,, i saw a video of a guy running a ista in puller mode. i had a custom 12ft rotor chinese 48v running at 24v did great in low wind. so i had winch problems and ended up dropping the turbine and destroying it. my gin pole was 6" diamiter 2.5" pipe with 2" cap strips welded on for strength. so while running in strong winds it looked like the flexible blades would hit my wide pole so i took off tail reversed the blades and thats how ive been running for last 3 months. only issue is more noise from blade bounceing off pole. could put more wear on bearings but for now its good.
@ToysforWatts
@ToysforWatts 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah that guy is on a couple of the forums I surf...he's got the blades flipped and is running them with some extensions. I can't imagine he's getting full power out of the turbine but I know it's been running that way for a few years now.

@@ToysforWatts no difference just noisy,, could sound cool like exhast on a car. tracks very well, but your pole needs to be straight up and down to start tracking wind from opposite direction. learned the hard way my big turbine,,, like your heavy one,,,, bent the tower when it hit so now i have to keep it slightly crooked. fell off a ladder and wiped out my foot so that put a end to me playing with my toys. ,,,,, i was thinking about when you climbed your heavy turbine,,,, we think nothing will ever happen to us until were on the ground wind knocked out of us and cant walk or work.... please be careful my friend.

Good job I have The 2000. 3 blade with no furling it looks like that one uses a 2 inch pipe which is better than this little inch and a quarter thing they come with very small for a 7 foot rotor so far no problems with mine been running good makes a lot of power have a nice day keep up the great videos I’ve been watching for the last year

Going to be putting up a couple wind gens at my property near Homer Alaska, ergo watching your channel. Do you have or could make videos with whiteboard design for a DIY build, showing "how to and what" from the turbine to the wall board to the battery? The exact same setup you are using for 48v with component makes and models would be awesome!

@ToysforWatts
@ToysforWatts 2 жыл бұрын
You have an i2000 and it's only making 1250 watts? Is it in rated wind when this is happening? I would seriously suggest you check out that modular connector I point out in this video and make sure you have equal output across all three phases.
@carlossousa3285
@carlossousa3285 2 жыл бұрын
@@ToysforWatts it's actually down as I have sold my house. I did measure at the rectifier equal voltages across the three phases. I have read the same output from someone else on this thread as well. My old 1500 at 24v outputting to the 48v system reached 1500w. Of course at low wind, the I2000 puts out 200 and 300 watts easier.

Your keeping us in suspense with this one, so this one is rated the same as the Heli just made cheaper and lighter I just don’t like the way the springs are attached to the chassis I think it would of been better to fit a peg and attach to that so when the springs wear through the peg the peg can be replaced, Are you going to do a bench test if you are could you do a test with a Spring balance on how much force it takes on the shaft to make it lean back
@ToysforWatts
@ToysforWatts 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I'm going to do assembly and the same bench tests I generally do...just haven't had much time this week (plus the wind's been blowing 70+...can't do anything when it's like that outside). I'm hoping to have a couple videos done by the weekend...might even have the i2000 up!

Where is the best place to buy a i2000 are dealers all the same ? We have wind at my place in. Oklahoma at 10 mph all the time .. and I’m sure if I get it 65ft in the air it be even better. Thank you for the videos
@ToysforWatts
@ToysforWatts 2 жыл бұрын
Hi! What part of Oklahoma! I'm from the Texas Panhandle originally and we always had to "cross the border" to go buy booze haha. iSta Breeze has eBay and Amazon stores as well as an online store on their site. Best prices are somewhat of a toss up between the three. Their eBay store is almost always free shipping, Amazon almost always has the best price, but their own online store has stuff not listed elsewhere. If you can buy it from their online store I think it's the best even if it's a bit more pricey. You might email them, tell them you're looking at an i2000 after watching my videos, they might hook you up with a discount!

I’m curious to see if your springs are a little weak like mine. Not a big deal, but mine peaks at 1200w. Maybe this spring I’ll pull it down and mess with it.
@ToysforWatts
@ToysforWatts 2 жыл бұрын
It feels pretty stiff trying to exercise it by hand but that won't translate to real life very well. Getting stiffer springs won't be a huge ordeal if it comes to it...or just locking the thing down if need be. It should still be making power when laid back. Something that I've noticed with my Heli is that when heavy winds hit it suddenly it'll lay back before it has a chance to spool up. It can really mess with it's power production when it's doing that.

What is the best wind turbine for the money?
@ToysforWatts
@ToysforWatts 2 жыл бұрын
Hands down the best watt/dollar ratio you can get is the i1500 and i2000. You can do better if you build it yourself, but if you're buying it off a shelf it's the i1500/2000.

These self furling turbines are a waste of time if you are using an advanced controller such as a boost/buck unit with built in dump load and brake, these self furling turbines are old school tech for direct charging where you don't have a smart or automatic brake, looks impressive though but a lot of extra weight in that furling system, I was talking to my contact at Ista Breeze last week and these self furling turbines are not selling much nowadays, the controllers are getting advanced and can do all the speed and brake controlling electronically.

Don't do it their not as good as a classic at all I don't think. Returned it after I seen how much of a difference a true mppt classic did. It was so much of a difference I stopped comparing and unhooked the ista charger. I don't think their chargers are nearly as good as their turbines.

@@easylawncare I used a classic on a Missouri and it went from 0 production to ok production but it was crapy freedom turbine. I set the curve but didn't get to do much trial with differant curve's. It was a client's experiment that we fixed with a midnight classic 200.

I honestly can't comment on the controllers that iSta sells in their kits, I haven't had an opportunity to play with any of them. Up until now I've been working with so many different voltages at one time that dealing with a single fancy controller hasn't been an option.
