The Isuzu Amigo Collection Caper

My friends decided they wanted to buy an Isuzu Amigo to carry their dogs around in...and they're getting pretty hard to find! So when they found this 4x4 manual '98 2 door for sale on Florida's Gulf Coast, I went along to help with the deal. Mainly because I can drive stick...so I made sure they heard the Millennial Anti-Theft Device joke.

I noticed that battery looks undersized, I also have a 98 2.2L 5spd 4x4 and it's really quite capable. Its so light it doesn't feel too slow, drawbacks are road noise and rattles. Great for around town, a bit of a compromise on the highway. My is ABS not working either. Soft top makes this the ultimate summer car and makes every trip more fun! Enjoy it!

That sucks, Jack the price on me after I drive all over the place and he can expect a trip to the dentist for a little repair work and I would get a hot meal and a shower at the local Police Station. Sorry you had to deal with that crap. On a happier note, I like the Amigo, I have always supported the little guy,...Americans Love Underdog.

My Dad had a 98 Rodeo which I drove quite a bit. He sold it in 2003. Ours had a V-6.

If the seller had agreed on the price at 4k before you drove all that way to buy it, I think that I would have walked away when he changed the price to 4.5k just on principle. I'll bet if you started to leave, he would have accepted 4k.

We did start to leave. It wasn’t my deal, so I just went along with the buyer’s decision.

Anyone buying these have to really get under the vehicle and check all the rear link brackets on the frame. Isuzu had factory recall to check link brackets. Known to rust/rot and break off. Main reason you don’t see many of these on the road anymore.
