Excellent video! Do you know if anything has changed since 2021?
@housefindersnorthernitaly

Thanks! Nothing changed as far as I know. The application form is still exactly the same. But I did not include in the video that you need to submit with the application details of your autonomous income and your housing (either rental agreement or deed).

Buongiorno Susan........that is a fantastic video !!!!!!! My wife and I will be there soon.........Feb 2024.........any changes that you are aware of in the process? I have read before that we need to have our (US) marriage certificate translated.........if true, can you recommend someone near Salo? Grazie........Mark

Thanks Mark. No major changes that I know of but the website of the Italian Consulate that serves the area where you live will always be the ultimate resource. I’m not sure but i think you have to have documents translated in your country of residence.

Hi Susan, thank you for the video. I am from Costa Rica married to an Italian-American by descent, he has dual citizenship, we want to move to Italy, are these requirements for my case the same? Thank you 🙏🏽

No. You can move here and once here, you can apply for residency as a family member.

Thank you so much for this!!! Do you know if at 6:34 Number 50 for the Visa Number- is it okay if the last digit is not within a box, as yours was here? I have the same amount of digits and wanted to ask if you encountered a problem here. Subscribed because you're so helpful! (:

It's not a problem. One of the digits won't have a box...

For box 49, “Frontiera,” would one still enter “Italy” if one flew from USA then connected in Amsterdam, then flew (same day) to Italy? This is around the 6:30 mark in the video. Thanks again!

Wonderful video, thank you!! We have received our ERV and will be in Italy next month. Regarding applying for Permanent Residency after 5 years we were told you can only do this if you have been paying taxes in Italy? What do you think? This video is very helpful - we also have help from someone in our city that has been helping others through this process for many years but we like knowing all the steps. Thanks again - definitely subscribing now ;o))

hi Anna. Residents of Italy are required to file and pay taxes in Italy. The long term permesso (the permesso you apply for after five years - it used to be called the Carta di Soggiorno) requirements include a copy of the most recently filed return.
@teacherzzzz

@@housefindersnorthernitaly I See so in order to apply for Permanent Residency you must have paid taxes at least one year and include that tax form in your application. The nature of the ERV are people who will not be working in Italy so I'm guessing you pay taxes on your passive income that you're getting from the US? Sounds like you pay taxes twice then? Grazie Mille!!!

Very helpful video, Thanks! I have my ERV. After I arrive and have applied for my Permesso di Soggiorno, can I travel to England (outside EU) and return to Italy with just my Passport/Visa and the receipt that is given when one applies for the Permesso? I want to travel to England about a month after we apply for Permesso, but am concerned I won't have received it by the time I travel.

Thanks! I am not an expert in PdS regulations but I think there should be no problem. The ERV gives you permission to stay in the EU for one year, I know of no restrictions for then leaving the EU.

Hi Lisa, My appointment at the Questura is 5 November. Will I receive my Permesso on the same day or will I need to wait days or weeks? Thanks!

Probably weeks or months. But your appointment receipt will show that you applied so you might carry that with you until you get your card.

Thank you for doing this video! I have 2 questions, if you don't mind answering. I applied for Permesso in 2019-2020, was interviewed and fingerprinted, but moved back to the US, due to Covid, before I received my Permesso Card. I have returned on a student visa again. Do l still check box 8 as new issue, or is this considered a renewal? I do not have the card in my possession although my previous landlord may have it. Also, #38 asks for City of Birth; however on my passport, it says place of birth and gives the state only. Should I put city and State on the application, or just the State as it is written on the passport?
@housefindersnorthernitaly
@housefindersnorthernitaly 2 жыл бұрын
I am no expert but I would think it is a renewal and I would put city and state.

How do you move to Italy without an elective visa but thru buying a property, then applying for a temporary, then permanent visa? if one wants to work remotely from Italy and Elective visa does not permit any work, must have only passive income. Sp how apply for visa, then permesso di soggiorno when arrive?
@housefindersnorthernitaly
@housefindersnorthernitaly 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mary. You will need to visit the website of the Italian Consulate that serves your state in order to see the different types of long term visas. If you want to move here with Italy as your primary residence, and you are not a student or military, or you haven't been hired by an Italian employer, the Elective Residence Visa is probably the only visa that applies. I'm not sure what a temporary visa is, at least not from the United States. You can come to Italy and stay up to 90 days without a visa. If you want to work "remotely", usually this is only accepted for an ERV if you are self-employed and you have a steady history of self-employment with substantial earnings. If you are not self-employed but are an employee of a company that allows remote work - this is still a grey area. As of this writing, I haven't seen any consensus on Italian Consulates allowing this as a rule for the ERV.

Nothing major - they might have some questions about your paperwork, they might ask for additional documents, they might ask how you want your submission returned to you...
