Adopted later in life. Had a failed first attempt, my wife didn’t show much enthusiasm or being “into” the process. I think this is more protective in nature, sometimes we brace ourselves for failure and anything past that is a win. Best of luck on your journey! Was interested in living in Lake Las Vegas about 10-ish years ago. Place was a depressing ghost town at the time. I can remember the golf course there how was basically closed down with dead grass. Granted this was around the time real estate in LV bottomed out. Sounds like making a comeback, good to hear!

When I was in school, I would have loved to learn about saving and managing money; like you said Daniel, we were taught about topics that a lot of us would never use. Completely agree about UBI! I work in a government call centre, so my job will eventually be taken over for by AI! Dexter’s brother was an ice truck driver AND a serial killer! So you’re right Amanda, it is a perfect job for a serial killer! I like to know the why behind a lot of things too and how serial killers think! Probably why I’m fascinated with true crime! I’ve used the CBD drops (on my tongue) in the past when I’ve had endometriosis pain! It really helped! Definitely looking forward to the OJ episode with your first guest! Wife and I fight all the time when comes to food. I always take the risk and get something never had before while she gets same old stuff UNLESS i talk her into trying something new and most times she loves it

Chess is great for kids outside of the obvious things such as logic and reason, strategy, problem solving, etc.. Teaching kids to focus on a singular task (longer time controls) offers lessons on patience, focus, sitting still, so on, and so forth. Exceptionally useful in the day of limited attention spans and immediate gratification. I've long been a believer that schools should teach chess or similar games. I believe there was a school in NY that Kasparov was involved with in the past that included chess as part of the curriculum. Don't hold me to that, though.

One thing that almost all schools, both public and private, haven't taught, is the study of criminal law. Criminal law is the body of law that: (1) defines criminal offenses, (2) regulates the apprehension, charging, and trial of suspected persons, and (3) fixes penalties and modes of treatment applicable to convicted offenders. So many young people get into criminal activities, but for most of them, no person ever taught them about the law, and why various activities are illegal. Before people can respect the law, they need to know what the law says, and what the penalties are for disobeying it.

Raising a child is the hardest human act other than facing death. But there’s tiny interludes of cuteness that gives you the facade that you made the right decision. Then the teen years come along and another level of torture takes place and you learn the meaning of hopelessness. Then they become young adults and a whole new level of parent/Child interaction emerges and you finally realize it was all worth it. Then grand children arrive and you experience heaven on earth. ❤

My Uncle taught me chess and poker from the age of 5/6. He was only 4 years older than me because of a 12-year age gap between him and my mom. Chess does help you strategize and i used to play to a high level but gave it up. All the top competitors i played against went on to be unmarried and not in great jobs as they were terrible socially. I would guess a very high percentage of the best chess players are like this. Just be careful i suppose but all the very best.
